  • With headphones, this sounds fan-fucking-tastic, if you'll pardon me for saying.

  • Thanks Hyde!

    Keep swinging,

    Rounder

  • I'm plugging in my guitar right now. It's too late to play drums. :)

  • Hi strangersound

Great! Let's do it. Soul jazz organ with Kenny Burell-style jazz guitar will make for a nice duo.

    Take 1:

    - 2 - 4 - 2 (start pickup)

    Keep swinging,

  • @rounder2u Can we get Bernard Purdie to play drums? ;)

  • Hi strangersound

That would be great! Purdie also did, among everything else, a couple of sides with one of the greatest:

    Jimmy McGriff.

'M.G. Blues' and, of course, 'I've Got a Woman', both from McGriff's early production (early '60s) are two jazz organ trio favourites of mine.

    Keep swinging,

  • What I would give to jam with you...

  • Hey now Rounder......

Excellent work - you're getting better all the time!

Also enjoyed your new Green Onions rendition.

    Keep it coming -

Wishing you Good health and everything good in life...

  • Thanks Ron Gang!

Alligator Bogaloo is very enjoyable to play and to improvise over. I recommend the song for every soul jazz groover. I always have a mental note to myself for the left hand when playing this song: Long and full notes, no bouncing, no staccato :-)

About 'Green Onions', I thank you as it was you, Ron, who got me inspired to finally re-analyze the song and record an improved version.

    Keep swinging,

    Rounder

  • Great rendition Rounder! Nice sound, great playing. Thanks for sharing :-) Jeremy Monteiro (Organamix)

  • Hi Jeremy

    Thanks!

It was your great version of this song that inspired me to give it a shot myself :-)

    Keep swinging in Singapore,

    Rounder

  • Hi Nick

If I happened to drop my C1 down a flight of concrete stairs and it was shattered, I'd buy me a C2 (the successor) first thing in the morning. Outstanding piece of equipment.

    Please, check out the website

    soundonsound

and search for Nord C1 or Nord C2 and you'll find in-depth pro reviews of the C1 and C2.

One of very few drawbacks, I havn't seen this been mentioned, is that the control/drawbar LED's might be difficult to see in bright, direct sunshine.

    Keep swinging,

    Rounder

  • As always, great job!

  • Thanks Alex!

    Keep swinging,

  • awesome once again

  • Hi allmetal

  • yay new video :D great playing as always , awesome man

  • Thanks knowthetruth!

    Keep swinging,

  • Rounder2u - Another solid performance! The part often overlooked is your use of registration. A lot of cats(myself included) just pull out 888000000 with perc and go at it. There's way more to Hammond voicing and you're not afraid to explore other areas. I'm going to have to emulate you in this respect.

    Keep at it!

    Jake

  • Hi Jake

    Thanks!

Well, 888000000 with Perc On, Soft, Fast, Third is THE jazz organ sound so nothin' wrong with keeping that. Jimmy Smith kept that for a full record one time :-)

But, yes, I believe that those two choruses at the greater with 800800000 are not too wrong for this arrangement.

If we YouTuber's can inspire each other - that's great!

Check out Dr. Lonnie Smith to see a Master at playing the drawbars, without over-playing them.

    Keep swinging at your C1,

    Rounder

  • Oh how much I love your videos! Your such a great player! Keep it up!

  • Thank you Taneli!

    And keep swinging,

    Rounder

  • Another brilliant arrangement, played by a brilliant musician! I love the ending with the fast leslie... Groove on!

  • Thanks Jesse!

Good to hear that you like my take on 'alligator'. The song, I would say, is a little soul jazz classic and was a hit for Donaldson, and is still often played :-)

If you like fast Leslie 'power endings', you might be interested in checking out the ending of my 'Yellow Fall Blues'. Fast Leslie with a jazz block chord on the upper, while using the lower for an upward palm glissando strecthing from the low lower all the way sliding over to the highest upper.

    Keep swinging,

    Rounder
