  • So yeah, list of whats wrong here...

1: did not use alcohol prep to clean site.

2: had the patient pump his fist, which is known to cause hemoconcentration and incorrect lab results.

3: did not use a waste tube to prime the line on the butterfly set.

4: Left the tube in holder after removing from his arm.

5: did not dispose of butterfly set in sharps container.

Successful stick, but a massive failure in protocol and procedures, not to mention safety.

  • why didnt he use and alcohol pad to clean his arm first? and did he stick himself at 0:34?!

  • he didnt not wipe the site first with alcohol, and he recapped the needle when the sharps container was right their. he didnt even removed the tube from the hub.

  • english marrrron!!!!

  • speek english! cucharachas!!! This WETBACK suuuuuccccckkks at blood draws!! LMFAO

  • thoes hoes in the backround are soo annoying

    /

  • he didnt clean the area and the switched the needles twice. where is the teacher?

  • Horrible horrible example

  • 1) WHY are you setting up a black needle first? Is this guy on blood thinners? 2)When you took the black needle off the hub, WHY didn't you put it in the sharps? 3)Dude, did you even CLEAN the site with alcohol first? OMG!! 4) Is that a blue top you're drawing with a butterfly? Why didn't you draw a discard first? That blue top is going to be QNS. 5) What's the justifable reason for wasting an expensive butterfly on an anticubal vein?

  • So many things wrong with this vid! He didn't even clean the area with alcohol, he kept crossing his hand in front of the needle which is dangerous, he didn't remove the tube from the holder after releasing the tourniquet and he didn't properly discard the used needle and holder into the sharps container that was clearly right next to him. I won't be going to him to get my blood drawn! I know it's a practice video for a school but keeping good habits ensures proper and safe techniques in the wo

  • the one who extracted blood from his aeg didn't disinfect the site... it is an incorrect procedure .. first , you might locate the preferred site for extraction and then apply the tourniquet and disinfect the site after that , thats the time u will extract the bllood...

  • once you wipe the injection site with alcohol prep, you cannot touch the site to feel for a vein, it then increases the risk of infection even if you are wearing gloves. best advice is to feel for the vein first, wipe, then stick.

  • Of course you have them pump their fist, it increases pressure if the vein which makes it easier to find and penetrate, I don't know where you learned, but you learned wrong... As far as cleaning the site before you put the tourniquet on goes that's perfectly acceptable, you know where you're going to puncture well before you do, it's not like you're cleaning that one tiny spot that you pierce, you clean the entire area.

  • do they practice on each other, in class?

  • oh and you never have ur patient pump their fist that is a huge no no

  • I'm doing phlebotomy now.. I only seen a few things wrong... didn't clean the site.. your anchor hand wasn't anchored where it should be.. u almost took the needle out without releasing the tourniquet.. and after you were done u placed the needle on the table without doing the safety first then u kind of improvised and got it on there... i mean nice job there is no doubt you did great you just needed to tweek some things

  • @jwalker1226

yes you are all rigth, but im sorry i didnt record that part of the process, of curse i clean the site and all that staff, im sorry i gona record a gain complete !

    my best regards

    god job !

  • @maouritzioo If you cleaned the site first, you cannot then touch it again. You shouldn't clean before you use a tourniquet to find the site...otherwise, how did you know where to clean?

  • @sskatygirl Heres a little tip from a Phlebotomist / EMT-IV Tech, when you have a hard to find vein I will cleanse the area with my alcohol prep/chlorhexidine and use a clean one and scrub the tip of my non dominant hand and not touch anything and find my site again and then stick.

  • @sskatygirl

deff right, the whole point of applying the tourniquet is to be able to locate an entry site easier. wiping then applying alcohol not only reduces chances of locating your point of entry, but also increses chance of potential infection. then ull have to find worry about locating the vein again lol

  • Orale!!! nice :)

  • bikergirl909;

I do not understand really, why? most people get to my video, to criticize and fight rather than give advice.

I've been thinking hard, that this medium is a relief, mental, because as the opponent does not know, just say what they want.

thank god, I think in this way.

    Greetings

  • He just contaminated the whole site by touching it ,didnt use antiseptic wipes before inserting needle, drew out the needle before releasing the tourniquet, didnt activate safety device and dispose needle in biohazard.Need more practice dude!

  • @maouritzioo- thank u :) best of luck to u to

  • @mauriciofabiani-thank u very much :)

  • Bikergirl;

I wish you the best of luck, phlebotomy career is an excellent opportunity to learn about our blood and delicate handling, I recommend that in your practices, you have no doubt what you're doing.

make your patient feel very confident as if he were your father,

have with the patient a pleasant talk of blood handling.

I see you with the security, reliability and professionalism.

    bury the needle without fear!

    Good luck!

  • idk why people like to talk bs at least he's getting an education right :)

well im gonna be training to be a phlebotomist in january. good luck to me lol.

  • @bikergirl909 Because is the only way they make them selves feel better.! by putting other people down. I can't imagine what that guy with the negative comments feels about a person doing Janitorial work. Good luck with your Phlebotomy training.

  • I don't have credentials for phlebotomy? lmao It is obvious you don't have the slightest idea what a Medical Technologist is. You should look up what a real MT does. You make yourself look very uneducated. lol

Also, in this field, English is important. You may think I need a PSYCHIATRIST because of my comment, but from your comment, I think you need some Ingles Sin Barreras! lol

  • @maouritzioo No, it was not obvious. What is obvious is that you are a beginner and you don't take criticism very well. Good luck PCT. Me, RMT

  • no, not that I do not accept their criticism, I just think fairly, that you do not have either the minimum standard of what is phlebotomy, for your comments I see that a person with psychiatric disorders, the only thing you want in this space, get rid of your bad situation or trauma such as phlebotomy, I recommend you go see a psychiatrist right away, so does not cause emotional damage your life.

    good luck

go to youre Psiquiatric at soon its posible !!

  • Wow 2 secs in and you see an uncapped needle on the table which he is ruffling through...

  • @xjay2kayx

you can see perfectly well that the butterfly est fully closed and locked and do not fill the tube and it was only a test sample and do not let us get more blood than necessary.

Thanks for your feedback, I hope to help you!

  • you are not suppose to use your thumb to papay the vein or put the tube in the needle holder first and you didnt pull the skin tight with your thumb and you didint even put the needle holder in sharp container you just left it on the table

  • @sexybabe3141

in the first instance, you can not use the thumbs because they are not sensorial fingers, in my case I use the left hand to pull the skin, so continuing to insert the butterfly, the team put him at sharp, and I had to turn off the camera hcer and then deposit in the sharp container.

    I appreciate your comments!

    good luck!

  • You didn't even clean the site first! You could have given him an infection!!! You need to practice more because if the others hadn't said to take off the tourniquet, you would have forgotten. Practice on the fake arm more.

  • @howsthisforus

it is obvious that he was given a first disinfecting the arm.

thank you very much for your comments.

  • Not very impressive. Butterfly draws are easy. Anyone can do one.

  • @TheHandSmack

you're right, only to practice legally have to have a state license and prove you NCCT professional.
