Just a pity they cut his song from the film! It was probably because Oliver Reed couldn't sing, but that didn't stop The Who from letting him sing in Tommy. I think everyone who hates John and Edward from X Factor should listen to Oliver Reed's performance in Tommy. :-)
He didn't need to be a decent singer for Oliver! though. His voice would have done nicely for Bill Sykes's song - 'My Name!' In fact, he could have just said the words over the music rather than sing them.
HAha, I really loved it. I also really love the part when they are singing "i'd do anything" and he comes bustin out from the kitchen with the feather in his hair. Kills me everyitme!
What a great movie this was. Ron Moody was great as Fagin, Oliver Reed was perfect as Bill Sykes, Jack Wild, was awesome as the Artful Dodger, Shani Wallis was adequate as Nancy; Mark Lester was not very good as Oliver, and he had a girl's voice, but what can you do? And the songs were first-rate. Too bad that for most of the people involved, this was the peak of their careers.
Fagin is an amazing character. His song's are always fun to listen to. Ron Moody played him excellently. In fact, this is the only version of Oliver! that I'll watch cause it has the best singers/actors in it. Also, the characters look like you'd imagine them. Especially Sikes and Fagin. Dodger too
Ron Moody rules.... this movie is the best, fagin is alive! the angst and the hope is all there, its life in a screenplay, this is the fine art of the performing arts, the actors in this performance were exttraordinary, this is truly entertainment. I only wish contemporary movies could be half this good... I think I better rent this thing again!!!
All the characters in this musical version are much better than in Roman Polanskis version. Sikes for one looks so menacing and actually how i reckon dickens imagined him, maybe im wrong but haydeho

Oh, by the way, another good Fagin part is when he's tossing the potatoes from hand to hand. "I never get burned".
