  • Utterly USELESS review. What did you actually review? Seeing that it has a good "click" into the sheath? Come on, don't waste our time or Ontario's product. You're being given the knife to perform an independant review and then you're being paid for the Youtube channel. How about really evaluating something beyond "it's pretty and feels good." Total waste of my time - confirmed by your summary - "I THINK RC4 would be extremely tough..." Great, thanks for your guess.

  • @TapRackBang72 utterly useless comment. The RC / ESEE is made by ESEE Knives, formerly Rat Cutlery. Do a little homework before you go off making stupid comments.

  • thing about the RC4 (esee 4) is its really thick enough, steel beats wood every time, nearly forever, when you have a knife of esee 4's thickness, im a guy who freaks over durability, and i feel the esee 4 with unmodified spine, and no serations, would last any survivalist a life time, and even a complete moron if he didnt try to baton rocks, i bought this over fallkniven btw, i think nutnfancy should have more videos on the fallkniven as its an intresting knife.

  • although, if you use a magnesium and flint (or so..) striker, you can use the 2nd edge as the abuser blade (like i do) keeping the main part of the blade clear of abuse, and ready to serve a bigger purpose (you know what i mean) this is not a EDC knife, RC3 might be (ask nutnfancy for open carrying) the RC4 is in between the RC3 and RC5, RC5 is a industructible bar of metal, that would only be carryed for special events like a machete, when you need the tool that will last longest.

  • dont buy this knife with double edge.. keep the spine the way it is, i bought it for wilderness bug out, its now kindof a urban survival knife.. dual edge is kinda pointless imo, i dont even sharpen the other edge (the spine is sharpened towards the end of the knife) although they might be cheaper (mine was) on ebay.. spend more for a unsharpened spine, and dont get it with serations, (i didnt, not saying you wouldnt love it) but its wiser not to.

  • 100-160 bucks is not bad for a knife that is very capable and comes with a virtually unquestioned replacement warranty.

  • caan you do a review on the ESEE 5? im not sure if i should buy it

  • You cracked me up with the website model comment. BTW: I agree.

  • "alright I've blabbered enough" lol love TNP keep up the great job

  • I'm right there with you on the desert colors!

  • @nutnfancy i bet mr. scale weighs a variety of things ;)

  • hi guys! im havin to make a tough decision: this esee 4 or the fallkniven f1. they seem to be similarly priced. ill be using it mainly as a camp knife possibly for backpacking. any suggestions which one is better, or is it just personal prefernce at this point? thanks in advance!

  • @TheTobyKing esee 4 its thicker ,carbon steel 1095 full tang ..nuff said

  • You have done a couple other ESEE/ RC Knives... Please do the ESEE 5, i would like to hear your thoughts

  • I like the RAT 7 better even though the RC-3 is good.

  • LMAO!!! thats funny how at 13:28 he makes reference at that noss4 dude and how he tests the crap out of blades by chopping away at sheet metal and cement blocks. It is interesting to watch, but at least it leaves no doubt about what it can handle in a way out there kind of way. but nice touch nutnfancy and very nice and reliable review, thanks man.

  • nice job nutnfancy, as always

  • Nutn just want to let you know esee offers some spectacular discounts for military members

  • @SGCDriver

    No.....Yes; they did.

    Sorry I pulled your leg.

  • did RAT change there name to ESEE????

  • Have you used any Bark River knives? Thanks

  • @ nutnfancy Here's a Data Point on micarta handles.

The rough textured micarta grips on the RC-4 is called canvas micarta whereas the slicker micarta you mentioned on the RC-3 is called linen micarta. (They do use a canvas micarta on the RC-3 MIL version)

Not all manufacturers specify what type of micarta they use, which frustrates me. But if you see canvas micarta listed, will be the rough texture you like.

I do prefer canvas micarta for a knife handle. Great traction w/ wet hands!

  • You forgot the "no questions ask" warranty including in the price of the knife. No other knife company as that.

  • Hey Nutn,

How do you strike a fire steel with that knife? The coating is a problem imo! Either way the knife is Awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • I've got my own criticisms of Nutn's videos, but I think that some of these comments are strangely harsh. If you don't like him fine, no need to act like you're forced to watch.

Sure, I want to see stress tests. But sometimes I just want to see the thing handled up close like this. Maybe I'm just trying to talk myself into a new knife and I want to hear a few opinions. I know the steel, I know the handle, I know the manufacturer, sometimes that's enough.

  • Argh. Use it and THEN make a 15min review. How can you have so much to say when haven't tested anything about it?

  • Crappy review dude. Viewers, please look at the "noss4" 4 part destruction test for a comprehensive review of how the knife holds up against some actual hard use/abuse. Thanks for showing us how pretty the knife is though Nutn!

  • @bmbullman Agreed.

  • Junglas not my first choice for the jungle. Too damn. It would be awesome around here, though.

  • What happened to the Junglas review? It says its private.

  • Radioactive Cock Dust!!!!!!!!

  • it isnt a tac knife, which seems to be the stem of all the complaints here.

  • I love the way Nutnfancy says "smewth" instead of "smooth", I sounds so hysterically funny... ;D

  • Your also paying for the awesome warranty!

  • I got the sog tigershark but the sheath is crappy I need a nice kydex sheath got any ideas?

  • @syrianization Get it custom made. It will run you about 30-50 $.

  • im debating between fallkniven S1 and esee4

i think it'll come down to three letters

    USA

  • Due to youtube being weird, i couldn't send you a messge:(. Anyways if you could give me your opinion on any type of bussekin knife (busse, swamprat, scrapyard). But mainly your opinion on the convex style grind!

  • Which of the RAT knives would you recommend the most? Rat 4, Rat 5, Rat 6, Rat 7?

  • I've watched this video 4 times in the past 2 days. Guess what knife I'm buying next?!

  • @Antrieb530 a ka-bar?

  • Hey Nutn...any chance for a Esee 5 or 6 review?

Great Knife. Thanks for the Video.

  • Now available for around $108,- on ebay

  • I'm planning on buying one of these very soon. Thanks for the great video!

  • Proud owner of an ESEE Izula, sliced myself down to the bone first night I had it. Great knife. Looking for more larger products by same co.

  • @Wabaanimkii I just ordered the Izula online and looking forward to getting it and putting it to use. I'd like to see Nutn's review.

  • 1) Where does Jeff Randall live ? (Alabama or California ?)

    2) How is the handle comfort for hard use ? I've heard it will rub your hand causing blisters ?

  • Wow, really well done Kydex sheath.

    Excellent overall review. Thanks.

  • Shes butters

  • g rated?

  • Why are you "reviewing" a blade without using it?

  • @sendmenosigns After a while you are able to hold a knife and look at it and can pretty much tell if it would be comfortable out in the woods or jungle, desert (etc.) Some things like how the handle scales are fitted with the handle and so forth give you a pretty good idea of the comfort the knife would provide after long use. But...... you are right. It is always better if the reviewer has had good experience with the knife before review. But hey nunt stays busy so he doesnt always have time.

  • @sendmenosigns because he knows what he's talking about.

  • @sendmenosigns Good question indeed!

  • @sendmenosigns because he has enough experience to know how a knife is likely to behave before he used it

  • hey ive seen a version of this knife with cool blaze orange g10 handles. do you think the g10 would be as good as the micarta??

  • ESEE 5 review pleeeeeeeease!

  • if i had a sawvivor and a small lightweight hatchet together with this knife would that be sufficient for camping/wilderness survival

  • That is a HANDSOME knife. I love the look of the handles. One day I will own such a blade.... *plots*

  • I dont understand why the RC3 is well over $100 while the Ontario RD6 is nearly 2 times the size and 40-50 dollars cheaper depending on where you go. And whats up with the RC4 being less expensive than the RC3, I mean shouldn't you pay more money for more blade??

  • @thenorthwoodsFH It does depend where you look - knifeworks has them at the same price (for the standard RC3 and the douple edged RC4) - but that is just due to business. RC3 is smaller, thus lighter, thus better all round edc/heavy use knife. whereas the RC4 is slightly heavier, bigger etc, so perhaps for some, less suited for daily carry. So if the RC3 is more popular than the RC4 - supply and demand, causing the perhaps cheaper to make RC3 to cost the same/more than the less popular RC4.

  • can somebody tell me why i should pay 106$ for a rc4, when i can get a ontario rat3 for 62$ or tak1 for 80$?

i'm not saying a rc4 isn't worth the money, i just don't see what you get for the extra money.

  • does anybody know where i can get this knife in canada

  • @shootr9 Srknives in Etobicoke

  • I'd tap that girl on the website

  • where's the nutnfancy izula review ?!

  • Will you be reviewing the ESEE RC-5? Oh, and do you know where offtopic48 is getting the RC-4 for around $80 dollars?

  • make a rc 5 review pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • will the sheath fit an ontario tak 1?

  • @FlamingFury5

The TAK's blade is a little longer and wider. Handle is also wider.

  • Just got mine yesterday! such a beautiful knife! Fits my hand perfect!

  • I really like this knife, it would be great to have with me for small camping trips. I am so glad the price went down to around $80. I am definitely getting my hands on one of these.

  • What about the ESEE/RC 6?

Thank you in advance for the advice!!!

  • nutnfancy rules !

  • lol every rat review hes like dude check out this smokin' babe lol beastness

  • is this knife good at chopping wood? i wanna get it for camping/bushcraft but i dont want anything bigger than a rc4

  • Just got mine today. I gotta say, I love this knife!

  • (8:09) thrust attacks are definatly one of the most deadly knife attacks

  • that is a nice knife!

  • the handle is alittle too small for someone with big hands. it feels like it will slip out. the finger choil is too small. i cut my finger feathering a stick. i had to remove part of the edge so that wouldnt happen again... overall its too expensive for what you get... the grip for the thumb on top (for lack of the name) should go to at least to the first rivet...

  • what website was that?

  • Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the viewing of hot babes (1:35), however when it comes to knives, I'd rather see a Spec-ops type dude using it. I guess it's 2nd type of cool though, lol. Sweet review as always.

  • @ZpocalypseWarrior Maybe Spec-ops style HOT BABE? THAT would be 2nd type of cool!

  • ordered mine yesterday.....nigga!!!!! im so stoked...lol

  • how much do one of these cost?

  • @FlamingFury5 around 110.00

  • @Evon10000 wut the fk...

  • @FlamingFury5 What?

  • @Evon10000 didnt know a small knife could cost that much

  • @FlamingFury5 They all have unlimited unconditional lifetime warrenties, AKA if you intentionally break it (don't!) send it back and they will give you a brand new one as many times as it breaks.

  • @Evon10000 cool

  • gorgeus ? its ugly omg

  • @MrKristoyaseMr Its gorgeous in its usefulness.

  • Nutn, you should get a contract with a knife company and make a knife line, thats literally THEE PERFECT KNIFE for you, for each of your POUs, like a Knife that you would consider perfect for EDC, then one you would consider perfect for Survival, and Tactical roles, and so forth, that would be AMAZING. - AJ Gonzalez

  • @305Wasabi The Nutnfancy Project Knives, that would be EPIC!!!!

  • @305Wasabi

the recon 1 is made to his specs as far as i care.... yet he only gave it 8/10.

  • @305Wasabi That would be quite an idea! Something perhaps a bit more realistic is just working and consulting with knife designers on materials, designs, dimensions, accessories, purposes, etc. Happy bushcrafting my friend!

    -Braxton

  • @305Wasabi At a good price point too ;)

Also.. do that with a firearms manufacturer :D

  • I think this knife was really more intended for survival than tactical applications. Just the overall design doesn't radiate "tactical." I'm gettin' one for hunting/camping/survival, I've got better knives for self-defense.

  • recommendation towards using this knife to clean game?

  • I need to buy one of these ASAP to go with my Izula...

  • I think that Ontario Knives, QN-TAK1 TAK Knife would be the equivalent to the RC-4.

  • i like this knife but i think i like the orange handle od green blade version

  • love this knife but cant get a edge on the damn thing :(

  • wow :)

  • @LueArts

    sorry this isnt Naruto...try again

  • This is one knife that I NEED to buy. And yeah, it will be in tan too! Love the color. What a cool looking knife.

My one and only quibble is, I wish they would offer these in sterile versions. Maybe put the company info on the handles, but leave off the various engravings on the blade. Less places to rust... ;-)

  • Nice blade shape. Nice handle. Nice finger choil size. Good design all around. If they offered this in a nicer tool steel, I'd pay 50% more for it. Kinda biased against 1095.

    Nice video.

  • I want one so bad.

  • Does the RC4 sheath come in cyote tan also?

  • Nice review as usual. How about a review on the RC5!?

  • i guess is the same just an inch larger

  • Comment removed

  • Thats not a double sided sharp knife with a compass system and a rope in it. It has to be fully compatible in a luxury box which fits in it and can be weared.

  • Comment removed

  • @StrykingHawk rat cutlery rc5 is looking pretty good too in my opinion

  • @StrykingHawk i would go the rc-4:D

  • Tom Brown Tracker is BLECK! If it's a back up survival, RC4 or UMSC but that's my opinion. SRK is nice too.

  • This is a great knife. I've got the RC-6 model, and it never budges from a task.

  • do the molle locks work on leather belts

  • god i love that rc-3 sheath. I make kydex knives and i wish i could make a nilon backing like that

  • Gotta love Rat Cutlery, (now ESEE knives). great review, thanks for posting it.

  • so nutn if you can reply. how do you feel about 1095 in the mountains. Im from colorado and do lots of backpacking and fishing in high country and my kabar does sometimes get rust spots on the edge. so is wd40 a good lubricant for re sharpening.

  • Use actual knife oil. It's made for that. And 1095 is fine up there but it's a high carbon nonstainless steel, it'll rust if you don't maintain it. Take care of it and it'll take care of you.

  • sir you have just sold me this knife, been looking around for a while now and this is just awesome! thanks so much and keep up the great work bud

  • its not too thick for selfdefense by the way.come on.its not that thick.even the RC5 stabs well enough

  • look at blunttruth showing what the Bravo1is able to do making a debris shelter.big blades are not a must.i prefer this or at largest the RC-6

  • nvm about my comment now at knifeworks it is back in stock =)

  • I really like this knife and the best prices i found was on newgraham for about $85 and on knifeworks for $84(but it is out of stock=(

if anybody can find a better price please post the price and website thx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I've been warming up to Rats and things may boil down to exactly this knife. Would be nice to have something different from satin or black as a finish, too. The warranty is -literally- unbeatable, too.

  • It's worth the money guys, I bought a RAT-7 from the USA on eBay before the new law came in. It's a great blade, carry it on every outdoor mission we go on. Feels like a knife should. Find a UK seller and invest!

  • the RAT 7 is made by ontario. the RC-4, and any one with an RC, are made by RAT cutlery. a lot of people think that RC knives are "better". because of the warranty and other things. the knives that use a RAT prefix, like the RAT 7 RTAK 2 are made by ontario. just thought you would like to know.

  • Thanks man, to be honest I'd never noticed! I've got no preference really, they're both surely quality blades. There must be some crossover in design/manufacture given the aesthetic similarities!

  • well they do look similar. but the warranty on the RC knives is superior to the ontario. the RC warranty basically says you can do anything to your knife, and i mean anything, and they will replace it for free regardless of how many times it has changed hands. that in my opinion makes the RC better.

  • @gundude73 RC's warranty is literally the best warranty on any product I have ever seen. In my opinion it make RC's knives superior to any other knife.

  • yeah man. that is why i just bought an izula. the selling point was that i wanted a neck knife but it was the warranty that sold me. it is completely unconditional. you can use, abuse, purposefully destroy and it is still covered. that beats the ontario warranty by a long shot

  • tthat knife is 120 pounds in uk .about 170 dollars, thats the cheapest you can get it in uk,rip off .

  • i cant find a store to buy it in the uk! where did you find it?

  • at ee33 they have all the good knives just google that and go to thir website very good service as well no messing around with deliveries.

  • Awesome! thats a great help, thank you! the site looks pretty good actually!

  • ya total rip off WOW 120 pounds

  • I actually bought this knife (in black, with the gray handle) because of your review. I live in a southern Cali, but was raised just north of Seattle. So I'm starting to get back into the wilderness. I have to say I've been glued to your channel, you do an amazing job man keep it up.

Could you review the Maxpedition Vulture 2 backpack. I'm thinking about picking it up for a light 2 to 3 day hike. Thanks

  • The entrek badger is shorter, thicker, and heavier.

  • This has to be one of the best knife reviews out there. I bought this exact knife about 6 months ago and have used it relentlessly and pounded the crap out of it in the bush. All round a very strong, multi-purpose knife.

  • Would this be good for long bike rides

I live in the desert and ride alot at night and face many threats, people, wild dogs, ect and I have been looking for a good fixed that could serve as a combat and possibly throwing.

  • You have been watching way too many movies.

Knives aren't for stabbing people and dogs with, this is a survival / bush knife.

And why the hell would you throw your knife?

If you were being attacked throwing away your weapon would be the last thing you'd do...

  • it's not made for stabbing, but I'm sure it wouldn't suck at it :)

  • @langdon04

If a dog charged at you in the woods how would you defend your self? If I had a stick I'd use it first, but if I didn't I'd draw my knife without thinking twice. As for stabbing people, same thing. Throwing your knife though? Bad Idea.

  • @langdon04 actualy i know i guy who was in iraq who had to use his knife just once he was eating and a bad guy just walked and his gun was layin down but he was using his knife to open an mre

  • @langdon04 well considering he is ex military, camps, and is doing a review for anyone who may be carrying this knife,( someone in the military) who may need the knife in a situation where stabbing may be necessary, I believe that it is perfectly appropriate to say that this knife may be used to stab someone or something.

  • @langdon04 killing aligators yeah its soooo cool isn't it ? o yeah it is -_-

  • @nigga42 You obviously live in a world of bullshit.

  • that is an awesome knife

  • Awesome review.

  • i heard alligator tastes like chicken, i like chicken, through the transitive property i like alligator through the transitive property alligators babes and rc 4 are in this vid i therefore like rc 4. GOOD ADVERTISING NUTNFANCY, love your vids keepem up man

  • that was funny just had to check her out one more time lol

  • I just bought the RC 6 plain edge. Should arrive any day now.

  • The knife kicks ass and that girl on the website is hot as hell!

Now what I'd like to see is an RC-OVER9000!!!

  • A blade that's over 9000 inches long? That would be a bit cumbersome.

  • ill bet it would make a really good skinning./hunting knife to.

  • beautiful knife, i still prefer stainless steel knives though

  • Stainless steel survival fixed blades are absolute junk.

At the very least it should be D2

  • 1095 isnt stainless steel....

  • Did i say it was?

  • I read your comment wrong then I guess. I thought you were trying to say stainless steel survival blades are junk as in the rc-4...my bad

  • @robotmaniafu he said it isint

  • @robotmaniafu ...by any means!!!

  • it's true that D2 is a good steel, I have my RAT-7 in D2, but this knife is in 1095, which is a awesome blade steel as well :)

  • @tamaplayer22 Never get a stainless steel survival knife, you'll regret it! I love stainless in all my folders, wouldn't go without it but for fixed survivals... 1095 and even D2 is solid.

  • You get what you pay for!

  • thanks Bitfox, i think your right.

  • Anyone? which knife did nuntfancy chip up chopping the tree?

  • the fixed black one? If I recall correctly it was his Cold Steel ... SRK I think was the name.

  • it was the Benchmade CSK II

  • Benchmade CSKII thats the one that chipped cutting the limbs off a tree... POS

  • I would like to keep this G rated, man lets look at this hot babe. ???? WTF
