@ohhhREALY They weren't shy about pulling the plug on this Xbox as early as possible! it wasn't even supported for five years! the last games I remember seeing on the 1st Xbox came out 2006 and after that nothing! its almost as if it was send out to die! The Atari 2600 was produced unil 1991 and Sony always supports older consoles long after the release of the newer machines! being a veteran gamer gives one the benefit of the long view.

When the original Xbox was announced it was a megaton announcement! the idea that Microsoft were going to put all there resources behind a next gen console was amazing! the way the old Xbox performed in the market, never in a million years would I have thought that the 360 would surpass the PS3! it seemed impossible! Wow I really switched around a lot. I went from N64 to Playstation 2/Gamecube to Xbox 360. So that's Nintendo to Sony/Nintendo to Microsoft. I like the 360 the most but the Playstation 2 is a close second. And the N64 and Gamecube are pretty much tied. I had fun with the N64 but I didn't really think it was the "best system of all time"

Sorry microsoft, but people want a console that's reliable and wont break down, that they could actually have a 6 hour+ gaming session on without the nagging thought of their console catching fire, and the ability to actually utilize a memory card (most games wont transfer onto the card, and using a data transfer cable isn't near as efficient nor cost effective as a memory card).

@jbetenbender In all fairness other than the memory card and jewish dvd remote (necessary to watch movies) there's no design flaws. They just should have made sure that they bought better quality HDDs and Optical Drives (mostly the optical drives).

Recently on the ORIGINAL Xbox I played Crimson Sea it wouldn't proceed past one of the last levels even though it was in perfect condition; yet a game I borrowed from my friend (Rachet and Clank) looked like it had sand paper taken to it and the PS2 let me finish it. I take care of my consoles; I keep them well ventilated and clean. You sir got lucky.

@kamakazi1212 FYI I didn't get the RRoD the optical drive took a shit. Just like with the original of which I only have 2 properly working out of 5 (The Samsung drive is the one that works). I have many other disc based consoles that work just fine; playstation (PS One... the small ver), PS2, Gamecube, Saturn, Dreamcast, I play my friends Wii and PS3 all the time he's never had a problem with either. Btw I've played PS2 for 16hrs straight (not idle); lets see that on a PoS Xbox.

kinda ironic how the PS2 was released before the xbox so supposedly had older hardware but then when xbox games started coming, there wasn't really much difference graphically between the two, and games are still being made for PS2! Long live the PS2, it will be 12 years old on March 4th. @kooldaug At the time developers didn't understand the advanced hardware of XBOX therefore not many graphically games came out. Besids PS2 was the lead console developing hardware at the time. But XBOX had better AA in games and higher textures. In 2005 and 2006 some XBOX games where almost HD, many XBOX360 games where ported to XBOX without the high resolution but featured everything else.

Yes, bill gates said the PC was the future of gaming.  Then, his computers and OS were not favored by the PC gamer, because their market availability and customization were inferior to the PC. Developers chose windows and Gates was screwed.
