This video is real, no matter how much people want it not to be. People need to realize that this can happen to anyone. Is it freaky that the camera happened to catch everything? Yes. But it's REAL.
I personally was effected greatly by this video. It just scares me. and well i had a first hand experience with an accident like this. even though no one died. it just shows how careless people can be.
@stealthmarine its not actual footage, you can look it up on imdb and see for yourself, kinda hard for ben chase (greg finley) to be in secret life of the american teenager if he's dead
This is why I never get into a car with people that have been drinking. So many occassions ive been so adamant about 'Im not getting into that car!' people always thought I took it so seriously. This guy is the reason.
Hes such a talented man and this whole situation had such an effect on me.
Everytime Im out with friends, I always get a cab instead of getting into cars with people that have been drinking. Even if they say theyre fine.
does anyone know where I can find the real video to watch?I saw this video and it was really good. It may have been fake idk but if you werent effected by this video your just straight up stupid.
The actual video itself is actually fake. They reinacted something. The Actor who plays Ben in this video (the one falling asleep in the car) is actually on the show.. Secret Life of an American Teenager.
the video graduation day is a real video, those kids were actually killed...if you have seen the full version, which is about 30 minutes long, u would see that these kids actually went through that and the video was no fictional accident...
Wow, even your accident commercials are Hollywood. Should have used real footage to scare people into not drinking and driving, I couldnt take this add seriously, I totally agree with its message though, obviously.
My best friend's (sober) daughter was only 15 when she jumped into the back seat of a car w/two 17-yr. old (drunk) boys, running from a party that the police crashed. She didn't want to get caught being there. Speeding, the driver drove into a telephone pole & was killed, the passenger severely injured & she was brain dead. Her parents had to "pull the plug." For years her entire family suffered. CALL SOMEONE SOBER FOR A RIDE, EVEN IF IT IS YOUR PARENT! THEY LOVE YOU NO MATTER WHAT!
He made a mistake and pays for it the rest of his life. I'm sure every person has done something stupied when they were drunk. Hge Price to pay in life. I know because it happend to me as well
Doesn't matter who's making the PSA as long as the point gets across. At the end of the day, Lane had to sober up and face what he did. He made a bad choice but he's still human.
I've been in a wheelchair since April 5 and I get to learn how to walk all over here soon. At graduation I didn't get to walk, I had to roll across the stage and all because I got in a car with a guy I thought was sober enought to drive. We crashed at 110mph. I spent months in the hospital. He walked away unharmed.
It's not real. There's a much longer video that they show in high schools now (this is basically the trailer) and it has Dan Rather interviewing the victims of the accident. And then if you search for "dan rather drunk driving" on google there's an article that says that its a "pseudo reality" video.
This video is fake, according to our school newspapers. They set this up in order for it to have a bigger impact upon teens that drink and drive. I think it does an effective job.
@theverygooddr i showed at my school. and at first i didn't know it was fake. after i know that , i feel a little bit mad because i really feel sorry for them. but anyway, it is a good video, it change my thought about drunk driving.
@AriesandRae they showed this in drivers ed the other day. i actually thought this footage might have been real, but I looked it up the other day and realized it wasnt. it was an effective job! the girl's acting was truly tremendous
I have no sympathy for this man! I think it is his responsibility to make this kind of announcement. It is simply sad that he had not exercised any responsibility that night.
Oh Lane! You might want to let the little kiddies out there know that they should not drive impaired on any substance. The same tragic results do not only occur alcohol intoxication.
I certainly hope that this message is taken seriously by anyone who is ever faced with this situation.
This video is reality. The punishment should be a lot harsher than they are no matter who you are. It all comes down to our lawmakers who let these people off easy. It is a shame, take responsibilty.
@Wanderplight -lol I know. That makes this whole video an epic fail. The proper message will never get across since the green light totally messed up the entire video. Makes it seem like a totally different message altogether!
glad he did this video. He deserves to do his jailtime but he at least showed some guilt and some passion for what he did. For those of you saying he should be let off because he is a star or he is so guilty for what he did should step back a bit. He does need to do time and should. You and I would have to. He has to take a step back and look at his life to make the next step forward.
If he had not shown so much remorse for what he did I would have been glad that he´s in jail. So many people do stupid mistakes while their drunk, I know that, His mistake just turned out so bad that someone died. He doesn't deserve to go free of course but I just feel so sorry for him and for everybody else who accidentally does something like this, it really eats you up from the inside.
It is wrong to drink and drive, but I believe the guy who died is also guilty, cause he got into a car with someone who was obviously drunk, everyone's too quick to blame Garrison
This is a very emotional video. Anyone who has kids or know anyone who drinks should show this video to them. My kids dad is an alcoholic. I will be showing this video to my kids to show them the dangers of drinking and driving especially since 2 of them are driving age. Thank you Lane.
I am the stunt coordinator of this video...it was not a recreation of his accident. Also, this version seems to have had some of the sound edited out...if you want the whole version, which is more emotional, go to TMZ.
No, according to the latest Yahoo news: "He was recently featured in a public service announcement that encourages viewers not to drink and drive. The PSA re-enacts his crash and he appears to be holding back tears as he talks about what a stupid and costly mistake he made."
I'm with Aidra. He killed someone. Whether or not he is remorseful, they remain dead. He had enough brain cells to know that if he drank and drove, someone could die and he did it anyway. MADD and law inforcement have told us the dangers of DUII for decades. He screwed up and as far as I'm concerned... got off easy
I really really really hope that they let him go. seeing him like this is making me feel horrible. they have to see that he is sorry and deeply regrets what happened. and i know that if he could change it, he would. i am so freaking depressed right now.
Whether it's an accident or not, he took someone's life. He killed someone. Yes, he's sorry and of course he'd take it back if he could, but he can't and he needs to be punished in some way. I'm glad to see he's publicly taking responsibility for this. That'll help him in front of a judge.

Oh Lane.. You must be shattered right now.. I've never imagined to see him like this. I really enjoyed his appearance in Prison Break, and now he is so sad and really regretful about what happened. But he'll go through this, he's got some good friends that got his back, I hope to see him free again soon. I don't know what his sentence will probably be, but the most important thing is that he actually learned and he is completely sorry, even before going to jail (if he goes). Good Luck buddy
Lane really does a great job at being so real while doing the psa. Bless you for being a teacher! A friend has a traumatic brain injury (tbi) and other permanent damage including to the bone marrow (fatty inner lining of the bones) from inhalant use, also called huffing. Please feel free to warn them about inhalants as well.
