Wing Chun is A close range combat art for self defense, it is NOT for sport like wrestling and BJJ or boxing, it's designed to do severe damage in close quarters! If you can stand and fight after getting chopped in the throat, poked in the eyes, then knee'd in the groin, then tell me wing Chun is not effective, we don't try to choke you out, we try to brake your neck. Most fights end up on the ground, but ALL fights start standing up!!!

WSL was the greatest wing chun fighter, second to Bruce Lee, Wing Chun made Bruce Lee what he is Today, A legend! WSL proved Wing Chun owns all by easily defeating ALL figures, just like Bruce Lee. If only people had that determination and dedication, MMA wouldn't be so big. BJJ is useless on the street, you're gonna grapple in the mud? While his friend stomps you out? I don't think so!

And how do you know that Yip Man did the form always the same way? You say that the photos which show an old a very, very ill GM Yip Man are the holy truth!? WSL learnt form Yip Man for years, noone of us discussing about the form here did that! ;)

@Kaybee1000 man you are wise all of guys are talking about it like they were training wing chun for years, but if wsl was learning from yip man for years it means that he was shown a right way ... and it was on him to find the better one which will suite him more byt the way every1 of us is else that means we are better in different aspects and that was the meaning of JKD of bruce lee :) evyrone has his own way of martial arts :)

Actually I meant second section. Even from the beginning: He shifted to do pak sao three times but failed to shift when doing the jut da!!! And the Jut sao is supposed to be on the other dummy hand!!! One can did up Ip Man black and white photos of da MYJ and see the correct movement. One can also see Ip Man do da sip ma before da kick. WSL skipped that!! But of course the blind followers of WSL will say he ‘improved’ it!!! LOL!

@mofotox relax dude, if you do your research YM and WSL changed A LOT of the curriculum based off of experience from WSL's beimo matches. For example, gan sao was never in the SLT form. But from WSL's experience in his fights, he realized that it was a useful hand for low attacks. Therefore it was added into the 3rd section SLT. more traditional styles don't have this because there style isn't based off WSL's experience...moral is: don't get stuck with tradition...change into what works

@mofotox PLUS there is a reason for everything that we do in our training, it is our job to understand those reasons...if you get stuck on the small details between lineages then you'll have negative reactions because of the differences. if you are going to do research (in this case watch youtube videos) on other lineages than you should do it with an open mind. take in what is useful & what makes sense to you & leave the rest alone. no need to kick up dust because of misunderstandings

@mofotox So, the jut on the other arm I've only seen it done by Ip Ching (and most of his direct students.) In fact, he's the only one of the original YM students I know off teaching it like that. This makes me think, is your lineage cleansing based solely on the black&white photo's/film featuring YM or are you a big fan of his youngest son?

Just curious if you are/been a WC student or just watching stuff on the internet after a relaxing day at the beach somewhere in sunny california?

Wow! Da third section: after low bong, one should do a 'sip ma' when doing the da fak sao and kick. He skipped the sip ma and taught da WRONG thang!!! He went on and misinterpreted the whole sequence of moves around 4:00 sec. Sadly, the blind followers think they have such a brand name WSL!!! What a shame!!!
