@TheSuckatash no. His mom taught him how to play guitar at seven cause she played the lap steel guitar and she needed someone to play with her. soooo he learned guitar first. oh yeah and he was poor and didnt have a house so he couldnt have a drum set.

His technique is different but he can keep percussion consistent through soloing, singing, rythm, and even some dancing.

actually, he got sand paper and made those himself, its so he could get all those sounds and stuff...its kinda crazy destroying a guitar thats like 5000 or some shit.. anyway hes pretty much the best guitarist ever

I went to a concert of his last night. He did a percussion solo that lasted over 5 minutes. It was insane.

i think drum skills are extremely complimentary to guitar playing. it helps when you play both! guitar, being a very rhythm and energy driven instrument, sure does feed off of drum skills. i play guitar, and from my experience, drumming has always helped my guitar playing in terms of feel and pocket

He did learn drumming, he used that as a basis to his percussion techniques on guitar :) Plus, if you've ever heard him strum its the cleanest I've ever heard--no buzz or fret noise
