I bought "Locust" on cassette for my brother for his birthday and it didnt work so I took it back to Newbury Comics and they wouldnt exchange it. Dude said that album gets returned a couple times a week "it supposed to sound like that". Funny now but I was pissed at the time, had to get the manager and he said the same thing! He did exchange it eventually but they werent happy about it.
Saw these guys during the LAT tour in '88 at City Gardens, Trenton NJ. A life altering experience: in '89 I was admitted to the psych ward for six weeks.
Just read a really cool book called "Our Band Could Be Your Life". It tells the tales of the independent bands of the 80's. If interested those should really check it out.
I love the them.........but let's face it. You can't take US bands seriously. They always sound like a bunch of students and it's only a phase....see what Gibby and that do now, even Iggy was only in it for the money. It's the hormones!!!!!!!
thanks for posting bartzilla its funny how the posting date for the upload is 4-20-2006 cause i was reading the BHS bio in the book by michael azzerrad our band could be your life scenes from the american independent underground 1981-1991 and i read about the locust abortion technician era that they recorded the album from their home on like a 4-track or 8-track recording equipment and they were under
heavy influence of marijuana what a fucking masterpiece bro
cut-guy? i don't see your point although i wanted to space the last sentence and it separated itself from the paragraph i was writing and went about 3 spaces down but yeah if your big into reading books on alternative & punk or just music bios in general you should really check out that book from michael azzerrad and read every chapter on each band mentioned in that book the butthole's were under the influence of many things recording locust and smoking mad mounds of weed lsd included of course
bro i don't know where your from but where i come from iv'e never been in a conversation with somebody where they used that slang cut-guy i say my dude or my homie to describe as a friend not cut-guy
I first heard this album in high school in 88 or 89... Still stands out as the most unique collection of music I've ever heard. And the way it starts: Soft, soothing violin and strings music, a child speaking to his father, and from out of nowhere, "SATAN! SATAN! SATAN!" That's a Hell of a thing to tell his mom lol This album will always be a 10.
Daddy, What is Regret? Well Son, It's better to regret the things you have done, than the things you havent done, and by the way, if you see your mom this weekend, be sure and tell her SATAN SATAN SATAN.
"Well, son--a funny thing about regret is that it's better to regret something you HAVE done than to regret something you haven't done. And by the way--if you see your mom this weekend, would you be sure and tell her, 'SATAN, SATAN, SATAN!!!!'?"
this is one of the best promo commercials that i have ever seen if i would have saw this and didn't already own the album i would of surely went out and bought it ASAP. its a 4 star album (and im a harsh critic)
From MTV? You serious?! Every now and again I wade through all those dire music channels and all I get is rap and dance shit...Although MTV did do BUZZ...
long time ago, 120 minutes. sadly, mtv has pretty much always been lame. i'm not sure what the M stands for anymore. maybe MALL or MONGOLOID or MORON or MALIGNANT. i'd be surprised if those sphincters would have anything called "locust abortion techno promo" on their channel. the closest thing to something with that name would be BOY GEORGE or CARSON DAILY (he's mostly just the locust abortion part).
this clip is from from MTV's 120 Minutes show from around 1988. I remember seeing this and being shocked, as the buttholes were CERTAINLY NOT the kind of band MTV played back then.
I was at the DC show, at the old 930 Club and skinheads set a dumpster on fire during the show, smoke got in and some people kind of freaked, but the club didn't burn down. Gibby was smoking PCP before the show with a friend of mine, so I can see how he would have made that mistake. Great show.
Me too. I thought it was a kitchen grease fire next door but in any event I recall everyone being pissed that we paid for a full show & saw less than half. They came through at least once a year back then so we didn't have to wait too long for more BS depravity.
I saw them in Dallas in '88 and I thought Gibby was going to burn the place down. One of the best shows I ever went to. I'll never forget it even though I don't remember that much of it.
ah, from mtv when before it was the big coporate monster that it is today... way too bad when viacom bought them and they started with the commercials and the advertisers polluted the channel with the top 40 crap... long live the surfers because corporate heads die everyday ;)
Haha, oh yeah. Nothing quite as frightening as experiencing a live performance of JIMI under those conditions! But I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. :)
Thanks for sharing! I saw them on this tour, and I just screamed and screamed until I blacked out.
