I like satch the best, not just because his music is my biggest influence, and he may not be the absolute best, but look at the dude play! He is laid back and makes it look easy. He backs up his playing without being arrogant(like malmsteen who is incredibly cocky). He has proved himself in his music and with G3. He's also a really cool and nice guy. Satch is the most fluent in music theory. Though Vai and Petrucci both know heaps more than the majority, Satch knows more than them both.

Petrucci concentrates most on technique. He is an extremely clean player, and his chops are enourmous.

Vai is without a doubt the best songwriter. He's the happy medium between the other two, with theory and chops to fit any situation, and is much more creative.

That's how I see it.
