@JohnSmithJR89 - You can legally drive at whatever speed you're comfortable with as long as it isn't significantly slower than the set limit (no less than 40 in a 70MPH zone). However road rules dictate that if you are not passing vehicles that you remain in the slower lane(s) so that you do not impede traffic flow. All states (except for 1 or 2) have adopted this law. Unfortunately many either rarely enforce it or don't at all. I've seen countless accidents caused by blocking traffic.
it is actually against the law to travel in the left lane unless you are passing or are an emergency vehicle en route to a situation. the law is there to avoid traffic problems so i have no issue with what the officer did in this video.

I hate it when someone gets in the fast lane and locks up traffice flow, but I think Troopers should spend more time being productive than worrying about someone staying in the left lane, especially if they arent locking up traffic flow. If they spent as much time investigating real crimes instead of driving around and stuffing doughnuts down their throats, the U.S. would be a lot safer place to live. Get the murderers and rapists off the streets, then focus on people driving in the fast lane.
Where is the line drawn for passing? I'll admit I spend a large amount of my time in the left lane but I consider it passing, as I am going faster than the general flow of traffic. Also, If anyone gets behind me and seems like they want to go any faster at all, I switch over gladly.
The whole "it's illegal to drive in the left lane without passing" is pretty stupid. I think as long as you aren't impeding traffic then it's fine (e.g. moving out of the way of faster moving vehicles) it's fine. If everyone drove in the right lane here no one would be able to do the speed limit because one lane couldn't allow the rate of flow necessary for the traffic. Sadly it's still illegal to drive in the left lane, it's just not enforced (our cops have common sense).

@clickcl0ck3d Highway speed limits are stupid. On the same stretch of the road, depending on traffic density and the condition of the road surface, safe speed can vary greatly. If there is very heavy traffic + ice, doing 30mph is reckless, and will probably cause a crash within seconds. On a practically empty road, dry, daytime (like in this video), going whatever speed the above motorists are going is perfectly safe and reasonable.

@sn9696 Firstly, every state has its own "State Trooper" force who ensure the regulation and safety of intrastate highways, freeways, etc. Secondly, any actual local crimes fall under the local/county police's jurisdiction. In some instances, state troopers are called in for high speed chases but nothing more than that besides their normal job patrol the highways. Moreover, would you really let some guy who could be wasted, high, or just plain stupid and aggressive, keep driving 55-75?

slow traffic needs to move right, at the same time many highways in the U.S. are not big enough to handle all the cars on the roads today, i feel that moving to the right lane on a two lane highway when you are traveling faster than the slower traffic only creates more oportunity for error when switching lanes alot, however drivers seem to lack ability to think logically and assess their situations. there are also alot of older highways with poor on ramps creating jams in the right lane

If someone is traveling in the fast lane (ie. driving slow in the fast lane), but not using it for passing other cars, it causes long traffic jams and even accidents. Not to mention it's highly annoying to get behind one of these assholes. Therefore, Georgia state legislature created a law to make it illegal to travel in the fast lane without passing other cars.

What a dick move. Not ONE of the cars pulled over was obstructing traffic or otherwise breaking the law. What about the truck at 1:44? The 18 wheeler at 1:56 wasn't passing and was moving dangerously slow. I hope every one of these drivers went to court rather than simply paying a fine on a dumb ass charge. I could see giving warnings/informing people but this is just stupid.

I, together with many learned reasonable people, do not believe that speed kills. Unless it's something outrageous, like 90 or more mph. Reckless driving kills. @clickcl0ck3d Highway speed limits are stupid. On the same stretch of the road, depending on traffic density and the condition of the road surface, safe speed can vary greatly. If there is very heavy traffic + ice, doing 30mph is reckless, and will probably cause a crash within seconds. On a practically empty road, dry, daytime (like in this video), going whatever speed the above motorists are going is perfectly safe and reasonable.

@sn9696 Firstly, every state has its own "State Trooper" force who ensure the regulation and safety of intrastate highways, freeways, etc. Secondly, any actual local crimes fall under the local/county police's jurisdiction. In some instances, state troopers are called in for high speed chases but nothing more than that besides their normal job patrol the highways. Moreover, would you really let some guy who could be wasted, high, or just plain stupid and aggressive, keep driving 55-75?

Nothing worse than getting stuck behind some idiot in the left lane who won't move over. I don't know about other states, but in Washington it's THE LAW, and I've seen people get pulled over for it (and rightfully so).

slow traffic needs to move right, at the same time many highways in the U.S. are not big enough to handle all the cars on the roads today, i feel that moving to the right lane on a two lane highway when you are traveling faster than the slower traffic only creates more oportunity for error when switching lanes alot, however drivers seem to lack ability to think logically and assess their situations. there are also alot of older highways with poor on ramps creating jams in the right lane

@MrKaoVue On an interstate there is a slow lane and a fast lane. The slow is on the right, fast on the left. If someone is traveling in the fast lane (ie. driving slow in the fast lane), but not using it for passing other cars, it causes long traffic jams and even accidents. Not to mention it's highly annoying to get behind one of these assholes. Therefore, Georgia state legislature created a law to make it illegal to travel in the fast lane without passing other cars.
