  • I grew up with the disney channel during the 90's, wasn't even born until 89 but I could see a big difference between the 90's disney and the 80's but and even bigger difference between the 90's and today. This channel has gone downhill big time.

  • Wish I was alive to experience this. I was born in 1997 and started watching Disney Channel in 2005 and stopped watching it in 2005. I can only imagine how bad it is today.

  • wow look at this and now look how much disney has changed.....

  • Even though I was born in 96, I can tell that this had a lot more magic than it does today, the only way I can get the magic that it has on this channel is to go on a 12 hour trip to Disney World.

  • @Houstontvnews,

Whoever you are, whoever posted this video ..... I can just kiss the ground you walk upon right now. Thank you SOOOO Much for posting this video. I have been looking for this for a LONG Time. It's like a LONG LOST piece of my childhood. Thank you for giving it back to me. As a Childhood Disney Fan, I wish Today's Disney Channel itself would " resurrect the magic " like you just did right now.

Thank you SOOO Much A TRILLION Times Over !,

    - Dwight

  • after your local news from this station

  • yeah you look at this promo and think nothing but "quality family entertainment"...there's NOTHING like that on disney today....it's just "cool time" for 6 to 12 year olds....

  • @GD29 If I was Stone Cold Steve Austin, I will go to Disney Channel office and GIVE ANNE SWEENEY a BEER BATH AND A A** WHOOPING, AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE CAUSE STONE COLD SAID SO!!!

  • @kimv020887 those references are way over my head....i didn't discover disney til around the late 90's-early 2000's so anything even stevens-lizzie mcguire-old school disney channel original movie- related i can get....

  • @GD29 Thats why i'm saying, Anne Sweeney will get the a** kickin of a lifetime

  • @kimv020887 whos anne sweeney?

  • @GD29 she's the head of Disney/ABC. She's the one responsible for RUINING the Disney Channel.

  • @GD29 you forgot to mention So Weird, MMC, etc. THEY ARE ALSO GOOD DISNEY CHANNEL SHOWS.

  • @GD29 thats what I'm trying to say, thats exactly what disney has become. I heard a kid in my class say "Disney must be rolling in his grave". now I know that is a morbid comment, but there is some truth in it.

  • @aliensamuraipirate That's what I was thinking when I see all the "hip" crapola that they have on it now.

  • Nice video of past programs!!

That Disney Channel Jingle should be rendered into a MIDI. The University I'm in has a music building called Gosser Center, and its Music Tech Lab has a MIDI-composition program called Sibellius installed on most of its computers. Maybe I should work on a rendition of this jingle in midi format.

  • Wow I liked the Disney Channel back then but...that was corny!!

  • But didn't the "sky" look remained on late-afternoon programming (between "Quackertown" and prime time)? I know I've seen a "Next" bump for Fraggle Rock using the sky/rainbow.

  • Could someone tell me why The Disney Channel didn't get Wayne Allwine, the official voice of Mickey, for that line?

I know it is not Mr. Allwine doing Mickey there...

  • OH WOW! I'd never seen that long Disney Channel promo before in my life! This is quite a find! Thanks for uploading it. It made me happy.

  • wow, disney channel was soo diferent back then. now its just a bunch of juvenile entertainment aimed towards preteens. it was way awsomer back then, even though i wasnt alive then, but oh well.

  • lol yeah, i agree but to be honest I actually like some of the shows on it now. They play good movies someimes too. I hate the Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana brainwashing bullshit that is as you said aimed for preteens. I am 14 and I know I should be watching Family Guy I do but I enjoy some shows on it. None our really LOL! funny but enjoyable and fun to watch at the same time. I am probaly the only 14 year old who admits they like some shows on it. XD

  • @aliensamuraipirate

Times change, you should have known that by now. And no, it was not awesome when The Disney Channel was a premium channel. I used to live in the US then and we had to cut the channel because there was never really anything on. I can't say much about Disney Channel today as our Japanese version is different but I'm sure many kids enjoy it.

  • @aliensamuraipirate what happened to them to make their ratings shoot through the floor?

  • @tracemaster100 brainwashing, of course. Its a technique used by most--or all--big corporations.

  • @aliensamuraipirate at least you're learning something. lol

  • This announcer also was the announcer for the 1986 reissue trailer of Lady and the Tramp.

  • The music from the Feature Presentation bumper was also used in The Simpsons episode "Homer Alone".

  • At which part of the episode, near the beginning, the middle, or near the end of the episode?

  • This is a blast from the past! I miss the old Disney Channel.

  • i wish tey still had a channel like that

  • Very neat little presentation touch at the end of that lineup promo where Mickey comes in and says "Thanks, Jerry!"

The reason it's cool is because the Disney Channel announcer's name actually *was* Jerry... full name is Jerry Bishop.

  • I thought Mickey said, "That sounds great!"

  • nope - he clearly says "Thanks, Jerry!" in this one.

I think it was another one posted in which he does say "That sounds great" tho...

  • Do you have any additional Disney Channel stuff from around this time period? If so, can you put it up, please?

  • By the music, the look of the video and general vibe this must have been the early 80s. This was a time period when network were doing long montages to promote their station. BTW my parents were too cheap to subscribe to the Disney channel :(

  • Look up 'looking good CBS' on youtube and notice the similarities of the music.

  • This was definately from 1987, because the sky-themed preview bumpers were introduced a year or two before, and the version of the TDC logo introduced in December 1986 is seen at the end of the image promo.

  • He added the year to the tittle after I posted this, but like I said I never had Disney so it was a guess.
