  • THIS GAME IS SO GODDAMN UNDERRATED! Dear fellow Americans, as a german, i recommend to you: If you will ever have the chance to download this game for the Wii Vrtual Console, DO IT! Or you can play the british version of the game on an emulator of course. Don't miss out one of the best RPG's on the SNES. Even of all time.

  • The development of the story and the ending for this game were beautiful. I think it's one of the best games I've ever played.

  • I have this game, Australian PAL version, super rare title or so I'm to believe - Read about it at my blog (see profile)

  • min 4:00 looks alot like fable 3 weird huh?

  • I love this game, but I got stuck in the airship part and I never got past it...still a wonderful game with good gameplay and a good soundtrack to match.

  • i love youu!!! de veras!!!!

    me encanta LOVE IT!!!

    MEMORIES! TT_TT

    awesome

  • this is a game which is perfect...i played only three..terranigma, secret of mana and illusion of time...all for the snes...it was in a time when the game was in the main aspect and not the grafik or gameplay =)

  • Terranigma is beauty in video game form.

  • This game is a masterpiece in terms of gameplay, soundtrack and plot.

    It puts Zelda to shame.

  • @TheKaiserTheKaiser maybe ocarina of time or twilight princess but zelda alttp and zelda 1 were good X(

  • I dont remember the last song. when was it played?

  • @drecklia I think it was the ending theme, not 100% sure though.

  • @IxMAKExUxGOxLOL yep the ending^^

    i cried xD

but not as hard as to the ending to secret of mana xD xD xD

  • @NoirThing I will forever hate this game's ending. Leaving you with a cliffhanger that will never be resolved to the greatest game ever made is just cruel.

Secret of Mana's ending was amazing though.

  • @IxMAKExUxGOxLOL i fully agree with you^^

  • @IxMAKExUxGOxLOL Cliffhanger? It's not really a cliffhanger, it's just ambiguous is all.

  • Never has a game evoked as many emotions as Terranigma. I have my PAL copy stored away somewhere for safekeeping. Shame I lost the box and manuals lol.

  • every game that makes me laugh & cry is a masterpiece. terranigma is one of them!

  • More SDA footage.

  • Dungeons' themes were awesome as well, too bad none of them are heard on this vid :( I just hope this game gets re-released sometime in the near future, come on Square-Enix, this game could easily rival Zelda: LTTP for the best action/RPG on the SNES

  • I never hope so :] then the value of the cartridge would go to bottom :], Maybe a 3d release if any take care

  • Im sure that everybody agree with me, when i say that we all hated LEIM, he should be put to the Guillotine

  • I love that room at 9:45. What is that room called and what was its purpose?

  • It seemed pointless for this game to have an overworld map since there's not much emphasis on exploration. I mean, in chrono Trigger and FF, it made sense.

I wish this game's traveling system was more like Illusion of Gaia.

  • @gyromancy2 the overworld map was pointless? the game is about underworld and overworld, so how can an overworld map be possibly pointless? why do you need an emphasis on "exploration" to justify a world map? why do you think there is not enough exploration on terranigma? questions over question about your comment.

  • one of the greatest games... EVER

if you try to put only the epic songs in a cd or video, you will realize that you just put in all of them :P

  • my two favorite themes in the game are missing unfortunately. the port theme and the lumina theme. both so beautiful. but nontheless, great video.

  • greatest game i ever played

  • Here is a quick list of great music you left off. Some of the best video game music ever coming from this game you left off. And here is what you left off that is very good:

    Evergreen theme

    Lorie (or Europe) theme

    Freedom theme

    Underground map theme

    Perel theme

But you had the Crysta and overworld map themes in which are a must also.

  • Why isn't this game on Virtual Console yet? Nintendo, I'm looking right at you.

  • This game have the best ending ever created.

  • Terranigma has the best OST ever. (imo)

  • i accidentally thumbs-downed you when i meant to thumbs up. You are right, Terranigma's OST is incredible.

  • In the English European version, the chapters are called:

    1. The Outset

    2. Ressurrection of the World

    3.Ressurrection of the Genius

    4.Ressurrection of the Hero

  • The ending was sad as I recall.

  • @ShohokuAlumni I like sad endings lol

  • @ShohokuAlumni the whole game was sad :(

but the ending was so beatiful and lovely :)

  • I had the pleasure of playing and beating this game last year. A wonderful game with great music and a fine story line. Worth downloading and playing.

  • Greatly underrated and under-appreciated game.

  • man the graphics look awesome for a late snes game awesome use of scrolls on the underworld and excellent music if square-enix wont release this game on the US virtual console then i have no choice but to play it on the snes emulater in fact im going to find the rom of this game right now

  • @heerogunkenobi a very wise desicion... this game is just awesome!

  • I would put Dark Side Field at around 20-25 in my favorites list. It was amazing.

  • in german the chapters named are

    1. sunken continents

    2.fauna and flora

    3. Way of destiny

    4.The true Fighter

  • I've heard nothing but great things about Terranigma, but I never got around to playing it since it was never released in the US. One of these days I'll download the ROM and have a go at it. The least I can say is that it has great music, but I'll definitely have to experience it first hand to see how the soundtrack fits in with the story.

  • Believe me, you won't be disappointed ;) Terranigma is even my favourite rpg on the SNES :)

Not only the music, it's also the story that always makes me replay it again and again...

  • Thanks for the recommendation. I'll definitely get around to playing it sooner or later.

  • True true, you can only love Terranigma, such a perfect game.

  • totally agree with you man, for me terranigma is THE game, i love SOM and FF´s but this one is just epic

  • Definitely do it. I just played it for the first time last June and loved it. It just feels so fresh, and unlike any RPG you've ever played, partly because the story remains a mystery for so long.

  • Gotta love awesome obscure games.

  • I consider myself a video game guy, but why have I never heard of this game?!

  • when you're lving in usa - the game was never was released there. so, that's a pity because terranigma is one of the greatest ever made

  • It wasnt released in the U.S thats why you probably never heard it. just get the rom version. You seriously need to play this game if you want to consider yourself a game guy

  • Uhm I just typed the time, I did not anything else.

  • I love 6:20 =D

  • ¿How can you put a link to a concrete time?

  • just write it in the format mm:ss

    Like 3:20

  • 03:20

  • it does that if you type in any time. youtube lists it as timecode

  • just type the time like this 0:01

  • The theme's called ''Light Side Field'' (AKA Overworld)

  • Thanks garudoh.

I collect video game music from all kind of games and you handing me out this big slice of VGM history gives my joygasms every time i listen to it.

Having your channel on the whole time sometimes reveals really tasty music to me.

Also: Nostalgia feeling kicks in every 2 seconds.

To the game: Terranigma is one of the best, if not THE best game in my eyes, at least story wise.

A friend of mine wrote a book depicting the story of this game, I helped him a bit.

  • Amazing Game!

My top 3 of all times:

    1.Secret of Mana

    2.Terranigma

    3.Zelda

  • i will say no more, THOSE were and ARE the games!

  • my top three till now...

terranigma, breath of fire II,zelda ocarina of time

now i want to find all the ff games from the first one till the last one...currently playing ff7(i wish it would be for nintendo rather than pstation...)they should have maintained their pertnership nintendo and squareshoft that time...

  • I dont know what you think guys. But i think one reason RPG-games of the SNES era are so great is because of the missing voice output. Music stands out more.

And most important you can put yourself (thoughts; feelings) into the game much better. Thats why we love them so much!!!

    Terranigma, Secret of evermore/mana 4ever.

If you dont believe me, ask yourself Y Zelda is still so succesfull. EXACTLY!! ^^

  • This is so true.

    Beautiful!

  • I agree. I like voice acting when done right, but if they have uninspired low-budget voice acting, it kills the feeling of the game. I'd much rather have great music than voice acting. Ever since Chrono Cross, most games have had disappointing soundtracks. I was really disappointed with Suikoden III's for example. They seemed to focus on making the game more cinematic rather than providing many quality songs.

  • Dont Forget Chrono Trigger :D

  • about time someone think same as me! now they say games must have voice acting, but i think that not having it its whats make the so special

  • donde consiges el hilo de diamante?

  • One of the best games every created! Krysta theme touches your soul, so beautiful..

  • I'm playing through Illusion of Gaia again right now and then this one is next!

  • One of the best games EVER!

  • Definitely, one of the greatest ever snes games... The underworld music especially is unbelievable!

  • absolutely agreed with you djalyx :)

  • this is a great rpg for the snes with a really moving ending and an equally awesome soundtrack

  • The overworld theme is so sad.

  • I love it! I remember traveling through europe last year with that song on the mp3... awesome :D

  • wow....I have to do that man.....that would have been such an experience...

  • I never knew of this game until I was much much much older than when I had an SNES, which is perfectly understandable. Even after so many years, it easily earned a very high spot in my list of top SNES games instantly. But hey, it's Enix, what can you expect?

  • I'm not gonna dog this game, because it looks awesome, but I actually kind of hate Enix for ruining Square. Ever since the merger, they've just been milking Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. Some of their other games are good, but Dragon Quest has been stale for ages. I know it is "supposed to be that way," but I just don't enjoy it.

  • Well, it was partly Square's decision right? Enix has had some good games, but after I started onto the PS2, I really didn't seem to care for them at all honestly.

  • Sometimes companies have litte choice during a corporate takeover, but in this situation, I'm sure the Square execs had some part in this decision. It was a huge mistake pressuring Hironobu Sakaguchi to leave though. They lost several talented staff members during the merger. It also squashed innovation and competition in developing RPGs unfortunately.

  • Sad truth. A lot of games I used to enjoy are just stale and completely boring in this age.

  • i liked this game...until it turned into a stair climbling crawl through dungeon problem solver....diversity is nice, but i couldnt stay with it...

  • I dont know what you mean by saying Enix ruined Square.Saying that is not fair I think they ruined each other. Both had better games coming out before the merger, not just Square.

  • What other games did Enix have besides Dragon Quest VII and a couple GBC titles shortly before the merger? I'm familiar with some of their SNES/SFC stuff, but it seemed like they weren't doing much during the Playstation era. I know they published Valkyrie Profile, but that was a Tri-Ace game.

  • Maybe the best SNES game ever? From a personal view, I'd answer yes to that question. Since this video is about the audio, hehe, I start with that one. Great music, touching even. Story line is awesome, makes me shiver. Probably the only game EVER that made me feel for the characters. So many of them got a personalty, one that the creators have made perfect. And the actual gameplay? Flawless I'd say.

Great video, made many memories come back =) Thank you!

  • @EvilSmiskfisk While I wholeheartedly agree that this game rules beyond belief, I'm surprised that you felt for the characters. This game has a pretty iffy english translation, and the characters' personality suffered for it, assuming they had a good personality in the original version. However, I do agree that the gameplay was very well handled, and the story was very cool and interesting, even if it was badly translated.

  • @EvilSmiskfisk

The overworld felt "tacked on" since it was still a pretty linear game. I bet the director played FF 6 and Chrono Trigger and then thought "Gosh, I need to make an overworld like that too." And there was Too much spearing gameplay for my taste. Sometimes the game never told you what to do or go to next, which caused me to get lost. But I LOVED THE MUSIC. This soundtrack easily rivals Chrono & Final Fantasy 5-6. And The visuals are breathtakingly good

  • @EvilSmiskfisk They wanted to end the SNES-era with a big bang! The last RPG on SNES and it was a very good one!

  • @EvilSmiskfisk I really love this game. One of my favorites. My other favorite games are Soul Blazer, and Illusion of Gaia (basically the Gaia Trilogy) and Chrono Trigger. Maybe I have something for "time-traveling" games, or RPGs with good story in general, if you include Secret of Mana

  • @EvilSmiskfisk it was the best that the snes had to give and it was awesome! better than some newer games ;-)

  • @EvilSmiskfisk It's very hard to say that it's the best SNES game ever made since it has Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6/3, Earthbound, Super Mario World, Contra 3, Super Castlevania, Super Metroid, Mario Kart, Actraiser, Lufia 2, TLoZ: A Link To The Past and Secret of Mana to compete with for the title.

Personally, I say that this is the greatest game ever made, and the opening theme is one of the greatest compositions of all time.

  • Wow! i really need to find this game!

  • I Like that this game can be played on a Nintendo DS, because, it's really, a Jewel

  • it can be played on nintendo DS?!

  • ooooh i love this game *-*

the characters...music... all is so nice :D

  • this should be 1st grade on VGM :D

  • any recommendations what to play next.. this or star ocean ?!

  • Danstar82, I started playing Star Ocean for the SNES, I'm liking it so far.

  • Along with shadowrun the best game of the SNES, and I mean the good shadowrun. The one where you play Jake Armitage

  • great game, great music

  • God i love this game!

underworld theme is one of the best songs i've ever heard in a video game

  • my fav is overworld ;-)

  • overworld is godlike.

  • This game is one of the very best I ever played. I hated the first part then, once you're through it, I got to LOVE the game and cried whole-heartily at the end of it. Such a classic, wonderful game.

  • everyone cries at the end of good games

  • My favorite are Overworld and Resurrection

  • What is the second to last song?

  • been a while since I've played it, but I think it's the song from Liam's quest.

  • It is Leim's quest

  • Never played it, but the style definently makes me think of Chrono Trigger. Music's really well done, too.

  • By far one of my favorite RPGs. The Underworld, Overworld, and Tower themes are my favorites.

  • Spank you very much, helpy helper :) It doesn't get much better than this, music-wise. Well, MAYBE, final fantasy...

  • thank you alex

  • spank you very much for putting terranigma ost up :)

  • listen to dragon quest music

  • Thank you for hosting the music of my favorite video game theme.

  • i love melinas theme

  • underworld theme rocks

    (4:00)

  • crysta and resurrection best videogame music ever !!

  • awesome! those are some of the best songs in terranigma! but i wish fyda's theme was in there though. am i the only one who liked it?

  • Always tricky to pick the right track for RPG's with the ten minute limit. Consider it a small sampling of Terranigma awesomeness.

  • I also think Fyda's theme was one of the best from Terranigma. It has a really interesting start to it.

  • One of the best SNES games EVER.

  • w0rd!

  • <3 terranigma

  • Terranigma! :D

  • YYYEEEEESSSSSSS!!!! Terranigma rocks :D And it has some AWESOME musical bits.

  • greaat plz moreee^^
