  • Great historical document-thanks for posting this. By the way: New Idria, abandoned for decades now, has recently been designated an EPA Superfund site.

  • @mrsahonima it has been back and forth for years, I find it interesting that in a time where most government agency's are scrambling to stay afloat, they finally make idra a superfund. Oh how I hate the EPA.

  • MERCURY yeah is one of the most toxic substance on earth -.-

  • GREAT FOOTAGE!

  • Great video, thanks for uploading

  • juswt went up today apparently the creek belongs to the riders again

  • This is awesome to see what the mine looked like during operation, great find. Man I miss Clear Creek, kiss my ass Cooper and BLM.

  • I guess these miners weren't well read in Ancient Roman history. During that period, convicts and criminals were sentenced to work in the cinnebar mines of Spain. This was known as the equivilant to a death sentence given the high mortality rate of the miners. Cool video!

  • I miss you clear creek. I miss my mystery mountian.

  • @greatdestroyer1 FUCKIN AYE. FUCKIT, JUST GO RIDE AT WILL.

  • great documentary!!! GRAZIIEEE...thanks a lot!!!

  • Mercury is highly toxic and carcinogenic which is very very bad for health -_-

  • Mercury? They use sodium metal these days as the heat transfer in nuclear pants (but not all of them). I think water is more common.

  • @vmelkon Very few use sodium. Vast majority uses water (regular or heavy).

  • ah man i was there last year dicking around in the mines and the ghost town before the freaking EPA shut it down....... LOL quicksilver and you, welcome to the future of atomic power! HAHA what a simpler time of life 1950 was.

  • lol "pharmaceuticals"

  • 1944 a Nazi sub "U-859" carrying 34 tons of this substance was found on the ocean floor. At the time the main known uses were thermometers and thermostats. So why did Hitler need this metal? To create and anti-gravity machine that would help them turn the war. Well it went down to late and the info was found by the US through interagation. U-859 Look it up!

  • Mercury can also be used for antigravity...

  • It won't help your trade deficit. And frankly, who cares about that. Mercury is a global pollutant, toxic in all forms. In Japan, they are currently eating mercury contaminated dolphin meat.

  • toxic in all forms? even cavity fillings?

  • Short answer to your two questions is .....What is the definition of "toxic"?

Longer answer.....the "species" of mercury as they are often called, are; 1) metal mercury or quicksilver , 2) inorganic mercury, and 3) organic mercury. And yes, all three are officially classed as highly toxic. Dimethyl mercury is "super toxic" - one drop went through a rubber glove and killed professor Wetterhahn. One drop in the metal form killed two elderly people who vaporized it accidentally.

  • @philjquitt pay back is a all to common, whats ironic is we are the one who are doing the payback to ourselves...sad indeed,. to all life. STUPID HUMANS,....

  • The naivety of the fifties. The Obama sponsored mercury export ban just signed into law will prevent USA from exporting mercury. So, all the recycled mercury from USA industries will stay in USA.

  • And this helps America's trade deficit how?

  • Can I breath the mercury ore dust and kiln vapors with no protection too?
