Saw the original ARC angels tour in Seattle. Great show, great album, miss it. Was floored seeing Doyle work with Roger Waters, never would have guessed that. Doyle did a great job playing David Gilmour style. I'd be excited to find out that Sexton and Bramhall were collaborating again on new material. I sense some boredom with their revisiting their old material.
Holy hell, what a great band they were!!! Anyone who disagrees may you please kindly leave the planet, we need the space for Doyle, Tommy, Charlie, and Chris to store their talent. Please put out some more music!!!!!
Why would a major label want em? They don't do a mish-mosh of Sweet Home Alabama & Werewolves of London. They don't shout in rhythmic monotone, grab their crotches and brag about how great they are while constantly telling everybody what their name is. Major labels know talent when they see it.
I can't believe that labels rejected this guy over and over. Shows how useless these major labels are these days. Good thing Clapton came along. This guy is as authentic as they come!
This is arc angels, I saw them twice at Lafayette La, forget when, but they were freaking awesome both times, tommy shannon on bass guitar, and chris layton on drums/double trouble band, and I do like doyle jr, as well as doyle sr/srv ^5 all ya'll rock...Wynn
Clint....go have fun with yourself in a room with no mirrors. Nobody gives a big ugly hairy rat's ass. Will you enjoy dying of a sexually transmitted disease in the prime of your life? Move on and become somebody you respect, k?
You can buy it on DVD, it's official DVD material from Austin City Limits. It's called "Double Truble and friends" or something like that. This is material from Duoble Troble CD "Been a long time" feat: Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Doyle Bramhall, Charlie sexton, Susan Tedeski and more...
I know they were awesome...thank goodness for the occasional shows but it is all about geography and whether you are fortunate to be at the right place at the right time!:)
shit these guys are good... they really go well together - The Arc Angels are touring around in a couple of smaller venues across the states these days, aparently more something like casual gigs.
The Houston show was great!! Loved it. The only thing was, they DIDN'T play this song, which is my favorite. I hope they keep doing this "reunion" tours, so I\we can see them again.
Great video and even better song. I saw these guys in Omaha - at a venue attached to a bowling alley of all places - must have been 1994 or 1995. Awesome band...lived up to everything you've ever heard or read. Love to see them hit the road again.
I know they were great live act and I really miss them. Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton got together with singer, Malford Milligan and formed band Storeyville. I saw them a lot in Austin/Houston. . .unfortunately due to lack of commercial success and who knows what all the behind scenes stuff was, they weren't around long but they were still a phenomenal live act. Thanks for this post dbfan!
Please someone post Doyle Bramhall II & Charlie Sexton performing their otherworldly duet, "Turn Toward The Mirror" from this same 2001 Austin City Limits broadcast! It reunites the 2 along with Double Trouble to showcase the 2, (Doyle Bramhall II & Charlie Sexton) amazing singer/songwriter/musicians at their most incredible talents & chemistry!
There's just one way that you can stand, too many ways to fall . . .
. . . It's just a job, that's all.

He also forgot the first line of the song. I don't care...Charlie sings like no other!

A very rare song in that it actually ENDS with a guitar solo.
Just ripped a solo and left it like a deformed baby on the steps of a firehouse.

One thing's for sure, not many people can say"I play like Doyle". Upside down and backwards!!!!!!

Yeah, this is cool. The closest I've ever got to seeing this song live was by a bar band at a bowling ally in waterloo Iowa. They werent bad.

Thank you for posting this Amazing Video!!!! Why did the Arc Angels never make it big? The album was amazing!!!!
mrjimmy123456 5 years ago
They never got the chance to really blossom. Doyle and Charlie didn't get along and that really tore the band apart. They were amazing!
SpectorRay1 5 years ago
I believe it was more due to DBII rampant drug abuse. They get along fine nowadays that DBII is clean.
asolognier 4 years ago
Yeah, that can't be good for a group. I wish they'd get back together.
