I think it's perfectly natural to have this "morbid fascination" with Tim's death - people have it because we're thinking of our future death. I agree that Herzog should not have included the audio but I'm also glad that it still exists (Tim's friend says she doesn't understand why she can't destroy it, but I do). I know I would regret it if I heard the audio, and yet a part of me wants to, and I think that's why they discussed it in the film, to air their complicated feelings about it.

I don't wish to speak ill of the departed (if they're, in fact, gone- and I don't want to get into THAT debate), but it seems that every time this guy opened his mouth all that you'd hear is hunger for attention disguised as mock humility and a baffling incomprehension of the harm (rather than good) that he was actually doing these animals. Herzog himself used the word "tragedy", but in the classical sense, I think "comedy" would better sum up the whole story.

the reason he talked the way he did with the bears is because a bear has a human mental age of about 3 years at the most.he uses his voice tone to sound friendly or aggressive to the bears,and you can also notice how he uses hand and gestures to dominate the bears,lets face it ,to survive that long with wild bears he understoud them very well.

Treadwell was a lunatic. A seriously disturbed person who was a nuisance towards bears. I have little sympathy for his girlfriend either since she should have been smart enough to not trust her moron of a boyfriend. The audio tape of their deaths should indeed be released, to demonstrate to any other would-be-morons not to follow the idiotic actions of Treadwell. The reasons for not releasing the tape stated in this film are quite frankly pretentious bollocks.

No-one said Steve Irwin "deserved" to die. Motorsport is extremely dangerous but when someone dies they dont "deserve" it also. I think it was inevitable that he was going to get turned on doing what hes doing but he didnt give up on what he loved doing because of the fear of getting killed.

This all "adventure" is a lie. Treadwell didn't care more about the bears than anything. He just couldn't solve his own problems. Look at him, he's just an urban guy who passed on the other side of the barrier at the city zoo. He wrote a myth to cover his suicide. And Herzog missed it, or maybe not. But anyway, there, Nature is taken as a cover to hide human suffering and failure...

This dumass & his GF went to a known Grizzly feeding area at a time when the bears are desperately looking for food, they intruded on the bears natural environment, unlike the Bears who were later killed by the authorities they had a choice and made a a really stupid one.

The truth is that the bear that killed him was old, slow and had lost most of its teeth and as such was unable to hunt its normal prey.............bears will eat vegetation but also need meat and timothy presented an easy meal. Unfortunate for the guy, a little crazy but a man to be admired

I think alot of people who say "He got what he deserved" are actually referring to the consequences of his actions. He chose to accept the consequences and inevitably suffered from them. He was never accepted by the bears, he was merely tolerated. Nature does not recognize your intentions, nor does it mourn our decisions to ignore it's balance.

I think it's perfectly natural to have this "morbid fascination" with Tim's death - people have it because we're thinking of our future death. I agree that Herzog should not have included the audio but I'm also glad that it still exists (Tim's friend says she doesn't understand why she can't destroy it, but I do). I know I would regret it if I heard the audio, and yet a part of me wants to, and I think that's why they discussed it in the film, to air their complicated feelings about it.

Christian the lion is a great story about two men who cared for, raised and released their lion into the African wilderness. The reunion has been viewed by millions. But its sad that Timothy didn't realize that you can work for these bears by being involved in conservationist work (two men who owned Christian are involved in animal conservationism in Africa) and not try to be their best friend.

I'd say this is the best video on this subject that I've come across so far. I agree that there is a morbid fascination with his death. Hence that's why I and the rest of the commentors' and all those that didn't leave a comment watched it. The fact that the last moments of his and Amys' life were NOT released showed moral integrity and class. Thank you for not showing it. I won't be looking for it anymore.

He did deserve it by his actions! He put his campsite on a major bear trail where it criss crossed and no one in their right mind would do this. He also believed he was one with the bear which shows no respect for the bear! And after watching this movie it was clear the patience those bears was showing him was running out fast. These are wild animals and the last thing they need or want is someone interfering with there habitat. He got 2 bears killed due to his stupidity, how nice!

he found the bear eating a rib cage but no he did not kill the bear he returned to the scene with two armed men who killed the bear that they think killed him then killed a second one. The first bear they killed was a bore that was numbered bear 141 they that one open and found the rest of Timothy and Amie remains in that one.
