  • the carvings are amazing!!!!

  • Those steep stairs are a menace with the plastic slippers they give you. I always slip mine off to go up and down not to risk falling.. There's hardly enough space to put your foot I guess Japanese have small feet.

  • I am hoping to go to Japan with the good lady April or perhaps September of 2012 and I wondering about accommodation prices. So here goes:

    * Are Ryokan cheaper than business hotels?

    * What is the difference between Ryokan & Minshuku?

    Can anyone assist?

  • I've always loved how Japanese culture manages to combine utilitarian simplicity so seamlessly with intricate beauty. The Japanese reverence of nature is evident in the theme of each room- that sakura trunk, the many large windows to allow sunlight in, the images of blossoming cherry trees on the sliding doors and the shadow-casting woodcarvings. Thanks for sharing this great piece of architecture.

  • It's so pretty

  • nice very, i need 2 stay there sometime.

  • OMG the Inn is sooo beautiful

  • wow, beautiful...

  • Amazing. Love those old Japanese houses. Nothing better than being closer to Ancient Japan.

  • O_O

    is majestically beautiful!!

  • I have noticed that the stairs in some of the video's are very narrow and steep...it this normal for newer construction?

  • @clicker12000

    Yes.

  • Does Japan have many traditional hotels, or do they mainly just have inns and love hotels for tourists and people who just need a place to stay for the day/night?

  • りょかーん!

  • The architectural design is very simple and spacey. I love this! Man...in New York City...everything is cramped. There is no such thing as a spacey apartment, unless you can afford the inflated pricing . lol I wish I lived in an old style Japanese home. Thanks for these vids!

  • Amazing! thnx a lot for sharing all these staff...Id already seen all 49 how to videos hehehehe :)

  • This place doesn't seem normal.Too bright red carpet, weird and eerie for nomal Ryokan.

Maybe this was a Yukaku building. In other words,Japanese old brothel.

The bridge is an entrance to the another world.Woodwork and art work on the doors are stage effects too.

  • I love the artwork on the doors at 2:36. Very beautiful!

  • Excellent. Love the top floor. Not too far from my area they have many Bed & Breakfasts. If you ever come to Cape May, NJ check them out! Not Japanese, obviously. They are of the Victorian Era.

  • i heard its harder 2 breathe in japan 4 the crazy amount of industries,or is that china?

  • Wow, so beautiful. The sakura trunk was a very tasteful touch. You don't see that kind of attention to aesthetic detail very much anymore... thanks for sharing. :)

  • \o/ awesome sauce.

  • Oh my god thats so amazing. Id love to stay in one of those for a while for the experience!

    :D

  • Aww I forgot to stay at one of those when I was there.

Though I did stay in a small remote village. That was really nice.

  • So Nice!,I wanna live there!.

  • I loved staying in Ryokan some are a pretty good price and some specialize in foreign travelers. well, at least the ones I've stayed in in Kyoto. The nicest older ladies helped us out and fed us well. We left them a little souvenir from the states. I recommend that foreigners stay at least one or two days in one for the experience.

  • omg it's soo beautiful how much is it to stay a night?? and what can you do there is there a backyard?? it really looks like it came out of anime lol XD

  • That place is quite beautiful and I would love to one day stay somewhere like that. The woodworks, details, and decorations on the closets are all amazing. My grandfather loved Japan because of it's beauty and for their eye for details. He wasn't kidding.

  • Very nice, I would like to have that old cherry tree.

    Thank you

    Thumbs up.

  • Amazing!!! thanks for taking us there!!!!

  • Beautiful.

  • Obviously, 2 people missed the "like" button.

    Poor, poor souls...

  • this is just wonderful.. i want a house like this =)

  • Thank you for this videos !

I hope you will upload more videos with japanese traditional architecture .

    Thumb up like always .

  • Thanks!

  • very nice, thank you.

  • The last room was very open and looks smaller but extreamly similiar to the matrial arts room we use for our Iaido lessons. Do you think it would be possible for use as a Iaido room?

  • i heard from a friend of mine who lives in japan, that he said the japanese of these times are getting bigger and taller(he buys shoes from morocco and sell them in japan) have you found this with these houses?

  • I'd love to stay in a place like this.

  • Wow, just beautiful! I hope I can visit a ryokan someday :)

  • How many people would be in the big room?

  • i want it.

  • Here's an odd question but...what does it smell like in there? I picture kinda woody and fabricy...but a clean but aged smell too.

  • someone missed the like button..... -.-

also, have you made a video about the weather in Japan??

  • Really nice video, anyway i was hoping if you could film a video of Outdoor Onsen at the country side, but i guess filming onsen is a bit too much not to mention when there are other people inside it.

  • WOW! THEY LOOK 100 TIMES BETTER THEN OURS!!!!

Why'd the cherry blossom trunk look like that?

  • @AlbaDoggy I'd reckon it was submerged in a river for at least 50 years, if you ever look at wicker furniture, the legit wicker, it's a bit like that.

  • @Syc0warden wow! that's crazy!

and the wood doesn't rot? 50 years is a long time!

  • @AlbaDoggy Hmmmm, I might be completely wrong, but I believe it is petrified wood, which only occurs underwater, with a complete lack of oxygen. Google petrified wood if you find it interesting.

  • @Syc0warden WOW! lmao i bet i sound like a idiot XP i never knew that's how something was petrified! lol i totally will! XD

  • @AlbaDoggy Haha, I was stretching my knowledge, I had to google it myself to respond to your question :P

  • @Syc0warden lmao

wow, you didn't have to go through that much trouble! ^_^ thanks

and it's still awesome! i probably would have never thought to go to google XD (cuz idk what i'm looking for most of the time)

  • @AlbaDoggy multitab browsing, FTW

  • @Syc0warden YEAH!!!!!!!!! XD

I have 3 tabs open on this window and 6 taps open on my 1st window! XD

i over use tabs. i have more then that but i don't feel like having them open XD

  • Were is Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin. Geisha Boy was a great movie.

  • sooo beautiful!

  • great vid

  • How much would it cost to stay at an inn like that?

  • Wow, it's really pretty. But if it's an inn, where are the beds?

  • @kittenwithagun you lay down a futon

  • That is a really nice place with lots of pretty woodwork and art work on the doors. I have always enjoyed going into old houses, buildings and things because they have something that new ones don't have it's called nostalgia. I like the smell of old wood in old buildings too.

  • @cloudstrifeification

    Me too!

Have a look at my play list that has the ninja house, the 400 year old castle and the old village!

  • It was made a hundred years ago? I'm surprised a tall Australian guy like yourself could walk around in there.

  • Those paintings on the doors are gorgeous :D

  • Very cool :)

  • lovely, does anyone the cost of staying in an average ryokan, one day/night? i would imagine it would be rather expensive, no?

  • @arivas713 they cost from $500-1000 a guest they usually do not charge per room but per guest.

  • @wolfrain63 500$ per... day? wowza

  • Ryokans are awesome. I had the pleasure of staying in one once up in the northern Japanese mountains in the heart of winter. I won't ever forget it.

one room looks exactly like in love hina...

in that anime, the charas live in a ryokan, is that common too in japan?

  • Hey what is a Gaijin house?

  • @darkwolflord Like a dorm of lots of foreigners, usually really cheap.

  • @darkwolflord Gaijin means foreign so it is a guest house

  • I love a Ryokan, So beautiful. But they can be expensive to stay in.

Thanks again for uploading another great and interesting video.

  • I loved the tour, I like the old houses and inn's they are so well done in every detail.

  • That's actually really really nice! I'd much rather that than a traditional north american hotel, it seems a lot cleaner also! Great Job Keep up the good work mate!

  • What is that large room used for?

  • @iFukuyama Large room is for a group guest like company or school trip, also used for a party room.

  • thankx for the new videos. the tour of the ryokan was well done - i didn't think your camera-work was terribly shakey. it's cool that you gave us a chance to see the little details like the artwork on the fusuma, etc.

  • These videos are great. I've always wanted to visit Japan but now I am getting a free tour. LOL. If you ever happen to be in areas where they have a lot of gadgets and technology, can you please do a video there?

  • I think the reason 1 or 2 story Ryokan's are more common, is that in order to comply with Japanese building regulations, wooden buildings cannot be more than two stories tall. I'd expect that particular Ryokan is particularly old! I don't know how this affects things like castles... most likely they are exempt since they have additional supports and whatnot.

  • I'd rather live inside an ancient Japanese temple. The energy there is more serene.

Grand Hyatt at Roppongi hills is always my favorite hotel in Tokyo.

  • Wonderful video! ^_^

I think I fell in love with Japan even more!

  • wow that room on the top floor looks to cool

  • NIIIIICE
