One of my fave horror movies and werewolf movies since i was 14 about 15 years ago and Miss Kinski despite small tits turned me on even with that hairy bush i would chow down on. Would you consider this a werewolf movie? it is put on some werewolf lists, despite they are were-felines but does count since they are lycanthropes. Does this movie remind you of an erotic version of The Howling? and do you know it's a remake?
@Vash1286 What about Malcolm McDowell as Paul, Irena's brother? He was so damn cool in that movie, next to the unbridled animal sexiness of Natassja Kinski, his performance was one of the most indelible parts of the 1982 remake of Cat People.
@DoctorPretorious616 yeah, his acting was the best of all the characters in the film. Malcolm McDowell is always great in films (regardless if its a great film or bad film).
@Johnlindsey289 Well, I haven't seen the original Val Lewton version of Cat People; so I can't say how it stands up as a remake, but taken on its own, the 1982 version is an eerie, sensuous erotic thriller and tribute to the beast within us all !
For me, the 80's was just the other day-- just a while back. My favorite horror film, easily. A classic. It's high on my wish list for Blu Ray. The song version of this is so wonderfully strangely appropriate as used by Tarentino in 'Basterds'.
I always thought this film and the masterful Giorgio Moroder soundtrack was so ahead of its time. I was so impressed with this film and its musical score when I first saw it, and of course, Nastasia Kinski wasn't too difficult to look at either.
You do realize that it's a remake right? one of the best horror movie remakes around and underrated too. Almost as good as 1982's other horror remake The Thing.
I agree a little only because Giorgio to me has always been ahead of his time. Not only with dance music, but more so with his soundtrack production. Believe me, those in the music industry know his name very well.
@ferroxian "He never really got the break I had hoped..." Georgio did a lot of soundtracks during the eighties (Top Gun, Midnight Express, Cat People, Scarface, American Gigolo) and wrote and worked with many artists (Blondie, Pat Benatar, Berlin). A busy man in the 70's and through the 80's, but not much afterwards so I kind of understand what you mean.

Do you think remake is as good as other horror remakes like The Thing, The Fly, Dawn of the Dead, The Blob, Invasion of The Body Snatchers etc.?

Indeed:
Georgio Moroder really showed what he could do with this soundtrack!
He never really got the break I had hoped he would though - but a real talent he is. Nuff said!
