Simon makes the situation even worst by supporting cheryls acts more than any of the other judges.

...that's why Storm was on the show, that's why Treyc and John are on the show because it's difficult to sell music nowadays. I would suspect that most of the serious artists who audition for X-Factor are semi-pros who have had some sort of deal but have not seen any financial return, this is why they go on the X-Factor, to raise their profile. If you don't like the girl's persona or you don't think she's good - fair enough. But to vilify her for trying to fulfil a dream is an absolute outrage.

I really don't understand the outcry against this girl - I really don't. The X-Factor isn't just for absolute amateurs, it's for anyone aspiring to be a singer - ANYONE. It doesn't matter if you've had a deal in the past - most aspiring artists do. Damn, several of the current finalists have had record deals including Treyc, Storm and John Adeleye - indeed John is a M.O.B.O. winner but nobody is on their case. I've said it before, having a deal doesn't guarantee you a living in this industry...

I thought that X Factor execs had got her out of the record deal in order for her to participate on the show? Even if they did, there is no way that she should be in the final 3. Poor Gamu, she could not have done any better. I hope this does not knock her confidence too much and stop her from singing. As for Katie, I think the judges will save her even if she is in the bottom two this weekend.

...This is why I personally can't take a swipe at Katie because "who feels it, knows it." She's obviously been trying to forge a career in the industry for some time but because of the reasons that I've outlined she's obviously come to an impasse. Sure she's got albums but how many has she sold? We can assume not nearly enough to sustain a career so she has to look at another angle - and this time that angle is a TV talent competition, because that's one of the only ways now to get a profile.

@MegNerrd I'm not having a go and I know you're only young, but trust me, producing an album of songs and marketing it on the internet is so easy to do but it doesn't mean that you're going to have a career or make money. I know literally hundreds of credible artists who have albums for sale online, but virtually everyone of them is flat broke because hardly anyone buys music nowadays. Even established artists are suffering, Lily Allen for example is spearheading a campaign against music piracy.

@RosePetalLex If you knew how difficult it's become to make a living in the music industry since the technological / internet revolution you wouldn't begrudge Katie her efforts of constantly re-inventing herself. Now that hardly anybody buys music coupled with the fact that there's hardly any major record companies left, one of the few ways to get noticed and make a living is through shows like this. It doesn't matter if she was someone else before, she was simply trying to get a break.

Listen! We all know that the X-Factor is a brand and a business and any business is about making money. Knowing this we still come on these forums and complain that it's unethical and a sham - we already know this. It's also not strictly true that this girl constantly forgets her words. In her first audition she came prepared to sing a particular song but Simon didn't want to hear it and asked her to sing something that she wasn't prepared for. In the judges house she didn't forget the words...

I can't believe this girl got chosen when she did a crap audition together with Cher - there is something not right here. All a fix. The other girls were SO MUCH BETTER. How can they justify putting those 2 through on that audition. Just shows that they know all along who they want - most of them are planted. Have you noticed how they always have a Scots, an Irish and a Welsh contestant aswell just to get all the votes from those areas. Whole thing is such a tuck up. Why do we watch this?
