  • I think dark souls could work great with a keyboard. Vindictus is a lot like dark souls.

  • I agree with you regarding your point on watering down the controls for the keyboard/mouse combo. Some games simply don't work with a keyboard - try playing megaman X with a keyboard... jeez, it takes you 4 fingers to play on a pad and 7-8 on a keyboard.. what a nightmare.

  • I am thankful that you respect those who do not speak english. Me being french canadian, my native language is french, I was made fun of mercilessly when I was younger because of my bad english. Soon I enlisted a private tutor, fixed my accent, and hardly ever used french again. and as such I've forgotten most of the language! It's sad that the language I was born into is now lost to me. See what happens when you bully?

  • Go play resident evil 4 for the PC. My god the controls will destroy your soul. Sometimes games just don't work with keyboard and mouse.

  • @flaurne

RE4 for the PC was a bad port. That's why the controls were so bad.

  • @DrDot that's the point ENB is making. RE4 was a port to the pc that was just made bad decision. If I didn't play a console version first. I would have dropped the RE series right there. I would have never seen the awesome of the game, or played it's sequel. Saying that RE was a strong title with alot of general love going for it. All most people know of Dark souls from my experience is it's hard. Give dark souls them and limit their controls and I bet they'll quit before the tutorial's done.

  • That's an interesting point on cheating online, I don't play online, so I'm not too familiar with how it works, but I heard somewhere that Dark Souls pvp invading will match you with someone with 20% of your slvl, so theoretically say I play my character at slvl 312, I'll get matched with people who have also used the glitch, making it less of a concern for fair players.

  • @Mayhemzz That's not entirely true. There are some pvp areas that are not limited by level, and there is the problem of editing stats and gear to make yourself overpowered without altering so much your soul level. That's why I made that sugestion, edited characters having their save marked so that they simply can't get matched with someone who isn't, or can't go online at all.But yes, I understood your point, if it was only about the soul level, the game itself whould prevent inconvenients.

  • When I think about this cheating dilema, I remember KOTOR.It branded your save file as a cheater should you choose to do something with the console to alter the game.Couldn't this new souls game use something like this?If you choose to alter your game, you do it offline and that character gets branded and can't go online, for guys who like to mod or alter the game to make funny things and just have some laughts offline.I think this could protect the pvp balance, but it's just my inicial thought

  • you're a smart fucking dude

  • EpicNameBro, do you think the next Soul's game will have better dual wielding mechanics? Throughout Dark and Demon Souls, I played with a duel wielding build and the mechanics are the same.

  • I can't understand why people have to be so angry and hateful towards people using console commands or cheating on a singe player game when they are just trying to show funny things. I swear those people have a stick up their butt. :T

  • Make the ability to hook up your controller to your PC, that could help a lot too

  • Hardcore PC gamer here. Just want to say, about the control issue. Epic is almost completley right. Playing games like Assassins creed that is designed for the consoles, controls suck and it makes the game a pain. Although for a larg group of pc gamers like me, who grew up on them, a small adjustment to the contrls isnt an issue. It took about an hour of frustration and Assassins creed became second nature for controls. But he is completley right, Dark Souls needs precice movement.

  • I love how PC gamers brag about their games but once console gamers get a good game PC gamers whine about it.

  • @judgement1100 a few assholes aren't representative of the whole population. I think its cool when a game gets ported because that allows more people to enjoy the game as long as its a good port.

  • @MrRyfoe Witcher 2 is actually coming out on the consoles this year.

  • In that case why we no haz witcher 2 on consoles? stop whining all the time you got your games we got ours and Bro I agree with you :D but I swear to got pc gamers think because they can run it they should have it well that's not the case so shut up your all pissing me of also I think it shouldn't even been on xbox they got gears why we no haz gears? See my point yet?

  • "Prepare to use a controller or you will die!"

I'm pretty sure Meat Boy used that motto

  • Epic, I agree on Single Player Cheating only about half way, I think that a person should only cheat IF they have beaten the game at least ONCE. Never the less, KEEP THE CHEATS ON SINGLE PLAYER PLEASE.

  • ty for your vids i am from spain and i understand you very well :D

  • @S34G4T3 :)

  • I don't see the issue for WASD? Technically that would be like your left analog stick. Your right analog stick however, may have to be used as the mouse. Examples such as third-person in Skyrim and Risen. (You turn and your camera follows.)

I see the biggest issue under fighting instead. Console controllers have both a regular button and a trigger(or 2nd button). How would you port that to PC? I'd assume you'd use the mouse to attack and block... but that's only 2 of 4 buttons... :S

  • @Nemesiidae Left Click for left handed attacks, Right Click to block, Q for parry/left handed power attacks, E for Right handed power attacks

  • @jonsandersgame Possibly, would feel rather awkward however... :/

I would feel as if a kick may suit the E button a touch more, and power attacks are used by holding the mouse buttons?

As long as there is an option to re-map everything individually, I guess it shouldn't be too much of a hassle... D: Lets say the Dark Souls combat isn't exactly Mount&Blade now, hahah! :D

Chances are, if I bought the game for PC (So I could play online and have less lag), I'd buy a controller anyway, hahaha!

  • online pass for the PC version, problem solved :D

  • I believe a PC-port is favorable for Bandai Namco but I don't really see FROM do it.

-At one point FROM stated that they wanted people to experience the game just the way it is. I think that pretty much contradicts mods for the game.

-Some people would o/c refuse to use a controller and start bitching but that'd be one of the minor problems.

-Cheating ala` 360 would be an even bigger issue.

    -Pirating

Well, in the end it's Bamco's decision.

  • Ni no Kuni huh? This is the first I've ever seen anything about it! :D

I'm a big Studio Ghibli fan so this is exciting!

And WOW, it looks so nice, I just love the art style those movies have, and this game does them justice.

  • Here's the way i see it if From Soft wants the PC port to require a controller just ship it with one.

  • While I would very much love it see it on the PC, I don't see it working purely on the idea of controls, with the whole attacking n' stuff like that. I mean attacking takes 4 buttons, not every person has a mouse with 4 easy separate buttons. And you use all 4 "side buttons" and the arrow keys, so unless people are going to do finger gymnastics, I don't see it working well on a keyboard. But that being said, they can easily install the drives and use any controller. Just my 2 cents

  • PC is fine, dividing the fanbase is not.

You ever played the 360 port? Shit is like 1.03 all over again. It's really, really isolated, although that's to be expected because it's primarily based on using Gold users (which requires a monthly, paid subscription).

  • That second game looks awesome, what was it called? Is it a dynasty warriors game? And was that ryu hayabusa?!!! :D

  • @Retrovania It's the new Warriors Orochi game... there's a preview on my channel, and yes that WAS Ryu!

  • Just gotta say, EpicNameBro, you're one cool dude.

  • @TheMightyShell I'd just like to take this opportunity to return those words to you, Mr. Mighty Shell!

  • @mrscott137 that's what the mouse is for...

  • jajaj i like the vid of the pig with the boina!!!

  • I'm just going to quote a specific here in how hard I think it would be to navigate somewhere like 'Sen's fortress' with WASD control

  • hate when people cheat on a game, and then say " oh dark souls wasn't that hard, i beat it pretty quick.." yeah, of course, because they cheated...

    - i really don't care when they cheat besides that...

  • @TheRexblood You don't have to cheat to have an easier playing time, there is plenty of grinding spots, not to mention that many enemies have an easy to memorize move set and tactics, the difficulty in the game is based entirely in trial-and-error game play.

  • @tzeentch5

i agree, but some people skip the trial and error part by looking up how to do almost everything.

they might look up how to beat a boss, what to do, or what not to do. something that would take some time to figure out.

it wouldn't seem a difficult game if someone knew what to do or where to go half of the time.

  • @TheRexblood I agree, but I've had people hype up how hard the first boss is, and he isn't that hard, the game basically tells you what to do (aka drop attack).

  • @Sandshoe218 oh please, at worst it's just going to up the difficulty a bit, not being able to turn 57 degrees as opposed to 45 degrees. What you're essentially saying there is that you need more than 10 fingers to play Dark Souls, despite console gamers getting by using 6. What's more, PC gamers are used to using modifiers, so a dearth of proximal buttons is no issue whatsoever.

  • Comment removed

  • @TehSatanicPedophile I think you'd be surprised as to what people used to using a keyboard and mouse can achieve. There are tonnes of keys surrounding WASD, and unless you're planning on running left and right at the same time, there's always at least 2 fingers free to press them.

  • people hate when other people cheats on single player is because ....well.....armmm....errr....

i guess because they worked their asses off to get to a high level, and then some cheater say that he got there in 3 minutes with a hack.personally i would explode.

  • I never did understand the need for analogue movement controls. Whenever I play with a controller, I have the joystick locked to the full speed anyhow, and the vastly easier camera control with a mouse negates the other benefit of analogue directional control.

  • @OtmerAG Moving your character with WASD, rotating your camera with the mouse while attacking with the mouse. Shit would be clunky as fuck.

People bought keyboards to chat in FFXI/Everquest on the PS2. People can buy a 50$ controller to play Dark Souls on PC.

  • @MrMDpickles I don't see how it would be clunky as fuck. It's exactly what PC gamers do for FPS', just the x-axis is inverted and the centre of rotation is shifted.

  • @OtmerAG Disregard what I said. VIndictus, an NCsoft PC game, is almost the same as Dark Souls now that I remember, and it played great. Same control schemes but without the menu, multiple weapon slots and D-pad quick select. Locking the camera direction isn't necessary as vindictus has proven.

  • @OtmerAG You see, on paper it looks good, then you realize how awkward it's going to be when you have to hold down one button while constantly shifting the WASD keys, where are the shield bash and rolls mapped? As I am assuming heavy and light attacks are mapped to the mouse. It looks good on paper, but people just need to face. This isn't Skyrim. And then buy a fucking controller.

  • @TehSatanicPedophile

Get yourself an Razer Naga and you can map all the actions on your mouse. Problem solved. Will work the same as on console, since the right thumb will basically do all the actions.

  • @OtmerAG I don't think this game would work with the keyboard. I kinda works for FPS, but these kinda games are different. It would be like Fable for the PC but it would probably be more clunky. I dunno, I guess the only way to find out would be for it to be on the PC :}

  • @OtmerAG Dude, trust me. YOU try playing this with a mouse and keyboard...

  • @Sandshoe218 I play third person action games with mouse and keyboard all the time.

  • @OtmerAG You play third person action games... not dark souls... the pc controls would be too wonky for a game like dark souls, the movement required is too precise.

  • 二ノ国かっこいいな。。遊びたい><

  • Cant wait for more Ni No Kuni in america it looks awesome!

  • Epic, I wish they could bring back the HP system of Demon Souls back. There is no need or motivation turn human in Dark Souls. This makes it completely difficult to invade people. -_-

  • I think the keyboard issue is a reason for the DaS port. At this rate it seems that the next Souls game will certainly be on PC, so they'd *have* to figure out the keyboard problem eventually. Why not Port and take on any complaints about the controls to make sure the next Souls doesn't have those problems.

Besides, I should hope the keys would be mappable.

  • @EpicNameBro hey i was wondering if you could do a playthrough of Asura's Wrath plz when it comes out i would enjoy that and im sure others would too.

  • I was about to bone my girlfriend, then she said there was no way.

  • @AcestarX ahaha wtf

  • @EpicNameBro thank you for the reply you are so good at dark souls

  • @EpicNameBro how long did it take you to beat dark souls ?

  • @qulinahww Not sure, I leave it running a lot while recording and spend a lot of time trying out different things. I've played a ton. I don't know how long it takes me to clear the game, though.

  • hey bro i have a kinda important question, sometimes when im playing this message pop out "after the fall of the cemetery king....."(i dont remenber the whole message plus mines is in spanish so it says "tras la caida del rey cemen......" bad traslation lol,u will get it if u speak spanish) i was wondering if u know what does that mean? maybe is the nitos covenant (the message appeared before i even went to catacombs)

  • @darckjo It sounds like you were infected by a gravelord, but someone else killed the gravelord. Your world is now free of black phantom enemies. So, someone from Nito's covenant was infecting your world, but you were freed.

  • @EpicNameBro it maybe can be that but it happened 2 times when i was in the firelink shrine,it was really weird,i tried to search for info(forums in spanish) few guys got that message too but no ona was really sure of the meaning of it,anyway, this other problem that i have maybe it have something to do with my play style,i missed most of the quest and story parts so im really not sure of what the hell is going on,so when u finish the game, can u make a video telling the dark souls story please?

  • @darckjo jajaja enserio dice el rey cemen jajaja que cagado = )

  • Like what epic said the controls on the mouse and keyboard will be especially crucial for this particular series to enjoy any success on the pc. Its less about not wanting to share console exclusive but rather more about pc gamers getting frustrated with the controls (leading to cheap deaths) and hating an awesome game at the end of the day.

  • Epic I'm here to thank you for all your videos and all the help that you are giving to your viewers and say that I enjoy your gameplay and also your comentaries and continue with the great job.Sorry if I wrote something wrong.Because I am form Brazil.Sayonara( :) )

  • @MrMinecraftiano My pleasure! Thanks for your message!

    Cheers from Japan!

  • I lol'd at the PiP at the end of your video. And yeah, I think that Souls could go to PC, as long as they included a suggestion for gamepads on the box. Or even included an el cheapo gamepad with the game. As for cheating in both singleplayer and multiplayer... Well, People are lazy, and I run into cheaters all the time on MMOs. I tend not to play with them after that, if I can help it, but what can ya do? People are lazy and would rather not work, so they cheat on perfectly legit games.

  • Add ons and mods are great. For instance look at the elder scrolls games. Users being able to do things like this make it more versatile. But it should only be available for offline single player (as you said, whats the big deal with single player cheating) They could use a system that had seperate characters created for the online portion (similar to diablo) I think if they do a PC version, and see who mods what, they could see what people want in the next souls title. Judge what is popular

  • I think this one shouldn't come on PC, mainly because even though as stated below, controllers are moddable, with keyboards you can use macro keys though, which can also give you a real advantage.

I don't see how this game can be played on PC though. How would you manage your inventory with your mouse? Especially since there's no pause button. Also, how'd you want to switch between items which are normally on your d-pad. Console is perfect because of the controller, PC idk, think it's complex.

  • Cheating, and people think Turbo controllers are legit. You can't do anything about it because it's given out in stores. This is just one example of how stupid some console players bash PC people it sucks. It's everywhere, deal with it and move on. I'm just saying. 2: If Namco takes their time for a PC version it wont really be a port it'd be like it was part of the family. They could make that game PC able if they wanted to. Like it, don't like it your choice I'm only stating my opinion :)

  • we are almost there people! keep on spreading it!

  • I have to say that even on some of the ports that did allow controllers they were really bad as well. Devil May Cry 3, Resident Evil 4, Dark Void: Zero, every OddWorld game. Those are a few that just come to mind personally. It's generally nothing to do with using a controller, but just the fact that it doesn't run as smoothly, allow for any upgrades, or the fact that the controls are preset for something completely different than what it should be.

  • I personally think Dark Souls shouldn't come to PC because of the controls like you said.

I mean, you'd have to jump by double tapping shift (since shift is sprint in most games) and that'll feel awkward in tight situations against bosses for example.

Also the lock-on will be weird too.

  • @InquisitorPrime That's the magin of PC gaming, the controllers are so customizable that it should never be an issue for anyone. If you don't like the default controls, change them, they keyboard has keys to spare so that shouldn't be a problem. Don't like keyboard and mouse? Hook up a PS3 or 360 controller, etc. The only problem that I see with DS being ported to PC is hackers invading your game, people with infinite health are not cool to be with.

  • peace to all the people.

  • Hey Marcus, can you upload a dark souls video? It's so fun to watch you play :)

  • I never played Demon Souls, but i loved dark souls up until i made it too the Tomb Of the Giants, does anyone recommend me picking it up? Or would it be a waste of money considering I never finished Dark souls on the account of the stupidity that is the Tomb of the Giants.

  • if you like the feel that Dark/Demon's Souls have, and you do not dislike manga, you should check "Berserk" - not only is it one of the best manga there is, the vibe im getting from it is just like Dark/Demon's :) dark, evil, demon infested medieval europe

  • @Th3Nofo Berserk was an awesome manga, but the dark themes eventually got to be too much for me to read. A little bit after the troll cave I was just like "yeah, ok. I'm done."

I heard that the sexual themes were toned down a bit after that, but I haven't gone back to reading it... that was a couple years ago, so there should be a new chapter or two by now!

  • @EpicNameBro i agree, Berserk can be a a bit difficult to read, but still, i consider it one of the best works of fiction, super excited for the new movie, can't wait for it to come out in here.

to make it more on topic, im getting Dark Souls this week hopefuly, got a ps3 before xmas with demon's souls and a few other games, and i have to say, no other game got me as hooked as DS in years now :)

  • People should expect that a game built around using a controller is not going to feel as good using kb/mouse. The Starcraft 2 example is excellent, that game is built for PC, do you know how garbage it would be if it was ported to a console? You would not have hotkeys, and your using a damn thumb stick to do everything. It's the same the other way around, there are some things a keyboard can't do that a controller can in action games. Deal with it or use a damn controller, you have that option.

  • PC need sto be the main platform for gaming. Thats it, xbox and ps3 or any consle can't stand with PC, cause it is 20x better.

  • @pivot1022 all that aside, cherub rock on your channel page! :D

  • @EpicNameBro FUCK YEAH!

  • @pivot1022 It will never happen.

  • @BeerTimeGaming i know, its so fucking dumb, what the hell is wrong with gaming man?

  • If you want gaming to return to its glory days then ALL games need to be designed and created with the PC in mind and then ported over to consoles. The other way around isn't working, it's killing the industry with DLC, exclusives, and overpriced rehashes.

  • @SkyCaptainErebus Console gaming has major issues. PC gaming does, too.

But as long as there are companies like From making incredible games and Level 5 making incredible games and then producing additional DLC content FOR FREE, I'll be alright! Well I would be alright if I could get some stronger pain medicine for this freaking tooth

  • @SkyCaptainErebus not going to happen. Everything follow money. If somehow the majority of the gaming audience suddenly despised consoles and went into PC gamings, then yeah, easily changed. DLC, exclusives and overpriced rehashes are not "killing the industry", these things happens because again, they make money. You have to blame the people that create the demand for this stuff.

  • epic, why do you think the port would suffer from more options in controls? all a kb + m setup would bring to the table is more options in controls. why do you think more options is bad? if the pc port's ui can be done with 12 buttons like the console versions, you really think namco/fromsoft would deliberately make it more complicated?

  • @craziii3 Check through the comments below and you can get a good feel for my opinions about it. Sorry for this semi-non-response, but I've been talking about this for days now, and the conversation keeps going the same way every time. Also, I broke my wisdom tooth and THAT SHIT HURTS like a bitch. I'm an irritable troll right now :O

  • @EpicNameBro I did read through them. my questions were formed after I read the part where you type that 1 button/action/command on the console would require 1-3 keys on the kb + m setup. hence my confusion and subsequent questions. the only comparable thing I can think is the wasd vs the left analog stick for moving. but that is a non issue.

for head banging toothaches, try to take 4-8 tylenol pain killers. 8 for the extreme cases and 4 for the normal usage. my doc told me that 2 years ago

  • @craziii3 I was talking about movement, and I don't think it's a non-issue, but that's not my main problem right now. My main problem is that I have neither a wisdom tooth nor the tylenol that would remove the pain of not having a wisdom tooth (hence I'm on YT at 4:30am)

  • @EpicNameBro Shit you ran out of paracetamol! Ibuprofen at hand? Anything else?

  • @kxosz9 I got nothing now. I'm finally starting to feel sleepy thankfully. It's been a shitty week, but I'll hit up the pharmacy tomorrow. Gonna have to get what's left of this thing cut out soon though. I can be tough, but this shit has been hurting so bad my freaking vision is blurred. When it broke, it shattered. Only soft tissue left.

At least I'm in Japan.. it'll be cheap to get patched up. A small mercy. Ok, enough blogging for now. Gonna try this sleep thing again. Nite!

  • @EpicNameBro Good Night! And ask for Ibuprofen, just a recommendation.

  • @EpicNameBro hey epic i think you should check out this site called gaijingamers. It's an awesome site about games and many other stuff, and it's mostly for foreigners in japan. The people on that forum is awesome, you should check it out.

  • Cheatin occurs on xbox360 and ps3 so it wouldn't make too much of a difference in that case xD

but yeah some really good points man, good vid.

  • Why isn't there a petition to bring Demon's Souls to Xbox 360? Not that it affects me since I have both major consoles, but a re-release of Demon's Souls would cost From next to nothing and do very well.

  • @BeerTimeGaming Demons souls is owned by Sony which means there's never gonna be a port to a Microsoft gaming system :(

  • @justmedawg Ah ok that makes sense then.

  • No, cause if Dark Souls should ever hit the PC, it would suffer HARD from those Pirates who would just steal the Game then rather supporting, thats why they avoid the PC, or else they would have brought Demons Souls already for the PC.

  • @DieHardjagged Yeah, because no one can pirate consoles. O wait......

  • EpicNameBro, off topic but... where's your accent from? It's sexy.

  • @ixigray Mississippi boy, reportin' for duty

  • @EpicNameBro thats wassup bro! same here, and im going to school in japan next year.

  • @EpicNameBro nice one <3

  • As for the cheating problem: The ONLY thing I can think of that would probably work very well is kind of a Souls "MMO" where the players chars are on FROMs servers which would lower the probability of cheating a lot.

  • I'n not quite sure if Dark Souls on PC would work the way it works on console. I guess it would be playable and a decent experience, but not comparable to playing this und console and your 40+ inch screen and controller. I think that in the end it's just a question if the market demands such a game on pc or not. If FROM can make good money out of it I'm totally fine if they try their luck - it can only make future Souls games better.

  • Ryu Hayabusa in warrior orochi 3 WTF? Hanzo you got a new challanger ! haha i can't wait

  • @EchoRR92 Yes. Ryu is full of awesome in that game!

  • So it seems we have an official response at Namco's forums. The higher-ups who call the shots were notified and now it is up to them, hope we will be getting an answer is it Dark Souls port they are thinking about or is it Next Souls game.

Anyway this petition has accomplished something already. 71k signatures at the moment.

  • Eyefinity with Dark Souls = win

  • @MavVRX win indeed! Maybe Swifty will loan me his? Haha... right.

  • I'd would like to make some points, because I can.

I am not a regular viewer, before i g any further. Feel free to ignore my opinions if you so desire.

I haven't yet played a souls game, but I have been watching Zisteau's lets play of Dark Souls

I honestly do not how you failed to mention analog sticks during the middle third of the video.

I do not have a controller, nor the means to aquire one. If I did have a controller I would not hesitate to use it.

Thank you for reading my opinions.

  • @Syrahl696 You are not being ignored :)

I think that, to really understand my points, you have to play the game. If you have no controller though, I hope the kb + mouse is good enough for you if they release it on PC.

    Cheers!

  • i have been a ghost subscriber on this channel for a while. most hardcore souls fans would say my opinion doesnt matter but here it is: playing from a normaal perspective(not hardcore, nor casual) dark souls will be appreciated either way.

AND THE DIFFICULTY OF PC CONTROLS CAN BE BALANCED WITH THE DIFFICULT GAMEPLAY. meaning make the learning curve simpler. or tutorial longer. a bit more hints. either way CONTROLLER OR NOT, THIS GAME IS FUCKING HARD AND NEWBIES WONT NOTICE, ITS JUST BE HARD

  • @rexxtheawsome Your opinion is probably more valuable than both the hardcore and the casuals, actually.

And you are right about the hard bit. Most people are just gonna be surprised by how difficult it is. I really wonder if they will make some changes to make things easier for new players. A few months ago, I would say that From would never do that, but after the patches that nerfed Curse, increased the Souls you gain, etc... who knows! Good points, man.

  • @EpicNameBro oh snap epic reply, i feel like im being welcome into the hardcore world as an epicbro haha. anyway i mean its a wait and see thing, and i enjoyed dark souls even though its a different world compared to the baby games today. the integrity will not be tarnished either way, so i say they do it. either itll be harder then console of nerfed to be slightly easier. itll always be (from what i know it) dark souls.

  • @rexxtheawsome I'd buy it. I've already bought a Japanese copy and a NA copy... what's one more?

As for being welcome- all types of views are welcome here. Whether I agree or disagree with people, I'm still interested to read what they have to say about things. I don't like it when people make insults or narrow-minded accusations, but other than that everyone is welcome.

Never feel shy to join the party bro!

  • They could eliminate cheating in Dark Souls for the PC port. They could make it to where the users have to sign-in in order to play Dark Souls. Any version of the game that is modified or doesnt work with their patch cannot connect. Not sure if this would work though but it is an idea that I had. Also, Im not sure if using WASD would be that hard with Dark Souls but it's hard to say without actually trying it.

  • man it feels like only yesterday i was fighting armored spider and flame lurker XD but realy its been 6 mounths now am killing a lord of sunlight >_> kuz i am maddnes incarnate I AM SHEOGORATH

  • u no, im starting 2 feel sry 4 u man

how do u handle all those comments and all those messages man?

and besides, u actually remember each and every1 of ur viewers?!!! (u remembered tht i was planning on making a PS3 internal components vid)

r u sure tht u have a brain inside tht skull of urs?? not a super computer hhhh

good luck and wish u the best!!!

  • @hefhef54321 Actually, instead of a brain, I have the secret of the pendant.

  • @EpicNameBro hhhh

care 2 share this secret with me? i kinda have a short term memory hhh

  • What up' yo? Are you fine?

  • @kxosz9 So so. Trying to answer a couple hundred emails from people, and not really feeling too well. It's the weekend now, so I can recover tomorrow. I'm still looking for that email. You wouldn't believe the state of my inbox bro :(

I hope your week's going well!

  • @EpicNameBro I'm sorry for spamming you resp. being persistent. I'll resend it, so don't bother. I got a tiny bit annoyed at the first place, but i thought you'll be busy, and actually i don't have any real reason, damnit, we're grown ups, you even a year more :D. RESPECT for taking aaaaaalll your time to answer questions of the community. This, i still consider as a unique...behaviour...

    *weird english here*

life and community first, then that awkward guy with that highly complicated nickname.

  • I've never seen anyone play a game more skilfully with a controller. Keyboard and mouse is always right.

  • People Cheating in Single player use to Piss me off way more than it does now but it still bugs me. I dont call anyone a real gamer if they cheat. Cheating is not playing the game imo. Games have become way to easy and part of why they have been getting easy is because of the people that cry and turn to cheating because they wont take the time to learn to play and get better. When Demons Souls first came man I was stuck in places for weeks. Over coming those points was GREAT! idk man cheaters...

  • I thought it was already established that from soft said directly that there would not be any DLC for this game. If they did by any chance retract that initial statement, then I would definitely feel giddy about what could be done with some DLC. :D

  • ur little guys name is shampoo xD

  • ni no kuni? looks pretty cool :D

  • Speaking of cheating. I started a new character today and plan on playing the whole game as human. A coop character. I summoned a guy in undead parish and he dropped me a +5 blacksmith hammer and the Catarina set fully upgrade with a Havel ring and a plus 14 balder shield. Is that cheating? I beat game a few times already so Im going to use it. I feel bad for the low level invaders tho! Haha

  • Personally I think From shouldn't waste resources on this project if it compromises the brand by either not being able to offer the appropriate quality which we'd all expect from a Souls or if they can but only at a great expense which outweighs the benefit of pushing the next Souls title forwards with those resources.

If they can do it right and it helps them more than putting the same resources in to the next title, there's no reason not to do it. It's not just about us, it's about From to.

  • I agree with you about the keyboard controls. I believe that Dark Souls controls on a keyboard wouldn't be that great. The combat system in Dark Souls, in my personal opinion would be very difficult on a keyboard. I have nothing against PC and if there are enough votes on the petition for a PC release then welcome to the Dark Souls world :)

  • Man, you spent a lot of time speaking about controls but still didn't explain what's so "designed for controller" about it.

What's so different about controls in Souls compared to, say, Witcher 2?

Devil may cry, f.e. had a fixed camera in a lot of platforming segments and it was a bitch to do some jumps with kb/m like that when you could only move in 8 directions. It's a non-issue when you can control the camera, though. And you don't need analog input to be able to change your movement speed.

  • @BackFromSpace Have you played Dark Souls?

There are some things that are difficult for me to put into words. Maybe someone else can explain it better than I, but going from the analog degree of control over direction and movement speed to having 8 way movement that requires pressing two buttons to move in a diagonal and a third to alter your speed is going to be a handicap for most players. The combat in this game is demanding for all but the most hardcore.

  • @EpicNameBro

Having a separate key for every function is a Pro, not a Con for me as a pc gamer. And a lot of hardcore pc gamers would sign below this.

And i don't see what's so difficult about drawing an in-depth comparison to Witcher 2 controls, since the latter also plays very well with a controller, to the point where you could say it was designed for it.

  • @BackFromSpace First, if I take a step back when I meant to take a step back and to the right in the Witcher 2, it's generally not a problem. In Dark Souls, that will often be a very frustrating death (Sen's, Anor Londo, New Londo, etc.). The Witcher 2, as a game, was designed for PC.

Second, increasing the number of fingers that you need to manage for a single function from 1 to 3 increases the complexity of a task.

  • @EpicNameBro

To your first point: The only thing in W2 that is designed for PC is the inventory. You can't even change your settings or rebind keys ingame. The combat plays like any other console 3rd person game and feels right at home on the gamepad, which is still a major holy war on forums.

The second: It's not a problem when you have 10 active fingers, as opposed to 4-6 with a gamepad. Speed modifying keys is how pc games worked since wolf 3d. And this is how we want it.

  • @BackFromSpace The entire game was designed with a PC release in mind. Enemies, AI, abilities, pathing, environments..

Having to use more fingers to accomplish the same task increases the complexity in executing the task. That's not opinion. Just because you can use ten fingers to do something that takes six otherwise doesn't mean you should. The opinion part is that people will be frustrated trying to use that control setup to play the game. If you disagree with that, cool.

  • @EpicNameBro To the witcher 2 part: I see you like talking in vague terms. Well, the thing is, it doesn't prove your point. I back up my claims with facts, respond in kind please. There're many things in W2 that scream console, few of which i named already and i can go on and on. But you didn't counter one.

Now, having more fingers do the same task allow for more precision. Try moving mouse with one finger and snap cursor to the edge of the window. Now try with five.

  • @BackFromSpace

If only we were talking about snapping a cursor to the edge of a window! You say I'm speaking in vague terms, and I say you are over-simplifying things. You are completely ignoring the fact that the Witcher 2 and Dark Souls are nothing alike... probably because you don't have the experience of playing both games.

  • @BackFromSpace "The only thing in W2 that is designed for PC is the inventory." There is nothing factual about this. We've reached the point where you are dismissing my points as vague opinions, and I'm also not interested in talking with you anymore. Good day, bro.

  • @BackFromSpace Ultimately, I have to recommend playing Dark Souls before trying to compare it to the Witcher 2. We could try to intellectualize it forever, but the actual experience of playing both games is the best way to understand their differences.

  • @EpicNameBro There was a guy on Namco forums who was kind enough to describe souls control scheme in detail. The only difficulty i see in transfering it to your standart pc action game layout is that it has 4 shoulder buttons correspoding to your hands, 2 for each, when you can comfortably use (arguebly) only 3 mouse buttons. Depends on the mouse, really, but i would bind one left-right pair to main mouse buttons and other pair to A and G (i play on ESDF). Problem solved.

  • @BackFromSpace I don't want to sound like a jerk about it (which means I probably am about to) but...

You really need to play the game first hand to contribute to a discussion about the game's controls. Anyone who hasn't both played Souls AND multiple PC titles including some console to PC ports using a kb unfortunately doesn't have the experiences needed to further the discussion.

Reading a description and watching a video isn't the same thing. (sorry I'm being a dick)

  • @EpicNameBro And to answer you question: Players' feedback about ds having performance issues made me buy Uncharted 3 instead of it. With this petition around and namco bandai actually reacting to it, you can imagine i'm even more on the fence.

  • @BackFromSpace part2

Like I said, it's quite difficult to put into words, but there's a very good reason why most of the people who have played the game feel like the combat is going to be more challenging on a keyboard.... and not "good" challenge. More like "frustrating" challenge.

Of all the Souls players I've talked with, a very small minority felt like they could play it on a keyboard.

I'm sorry if my explanation is insufficient.

  • I'm thinking that if they're gonna try getting the Soul's series onto the PC, shouldn't they try doing both Demon's AND Dark Souls? Two birds, one stone or something like that.

  • It's just that a mouse is pretty useless in these kind of games.

Once I mapped it oldschool style though (movement to arrow keys and everything else in the WASD area) the pc version of Devil May Cry 4 actually worked surprisingly well for me.

It's the best example I can think of to see how the pc controls might work.

  • I'm late to this vid so I bet lots of people have mentioned this already, but many PC games these days(especially console to PC ports) can be played with a 360 gamepad. If you have Windows 7 you practically just plug the controller into a USB port and you're done. If a port of Dark Souls didn't support the 360 pad, that would be a sadly avoidable mistake.

  • @XoRandomGuyoX Yes, most of the discussion about controls is in regards to the overall reception of the game, given that many PC gamers require games released on the platform to have good control on the KB.

It's my humble (not so humble) opinion that anyone with any sense will use a pad for this title, unless they are in that elite 10% of genius KB users. But, historically, PC gamers have not taken the fat that a game was intended for a pad into consideration when judging it.
