@muzeitgeist I just started using Nivea aftershave balm (for sensitive skin as mine is super sensitive) and it works great! The smell isn't overpowering either.
@muzeitgeist Upvoted! I agree. Thanks to Mantic for all the work on the videos for us wet shave n00bs. Also an Old Spice fan. I miss the old Shulton OS Balm. Used the heck outta that stuff. :-(

@muzeitgeist Plus aftershaves' scent don't last that long.
Old Spice also have a au de toilette, it's' scent should last much longer and it is quite affordable.

Mantic59 Thanks for posting these great videos! I didn't shave regularly before I saw these videos, because shaving was not a pleasurable experience. But After watching these videos, I started wet shaving with DE razors. I cleaned up my grandfathers Gillette super speeds (a red flair tip from '56, and a standard flair from '59). They give an excellent shave, especially with a premium blade. I also use his Old Spice shave mug for my shave soap. Its a great way to shave, & remember my grandfather!

StratPlayer17- an aftershave high in alcohol (1st entry on the ingredient list) tends to dry out the skin too much for most people. But if it works for you thats fine too.
hey mantic u give great advice on shavin and i thank u for it but y not shave it all at once i kno u say to reduce it untill its gone but wouldn't it be more convenient if it were done one time
daboss212- reduction shaving is the best way to get rid of the most hair with the least discomfort. Some people can go faster or do it all at once but not everyone.
Hey Mantic, I have a smaaalll problem and wonder if you can help. I can get every single hair accept the tiiiiny hairs on my side burns and the hairs on the base of my neck. I try to go against grain on both but just can't quite get completley close. Thanks for any help.
zamudio1234- Sure, though I bet a single pass with the grain will be fine. Maybe try a cross-grain pass if you still feel a little stubble. I don't think an against-grain pass will be necessary for you.
I've got a question to you: I am 18 yo atm, I got a few zips and some older scars, which shaving technique and method is the best for such a person? My skin is quite sensitive so I bought Nivea sensitive shaving gel. Using safety razor with 3 razors from Gillette. After a shave I usually wash my face and I put some cream and go sleep. When I wake up I feel kinda bad and it annoys me. Forgot to mention that before shaving I take a shower.
szczerbatylukasz- i suggest shaving after showering, trying a razor with fewer blades, and not shaving against the grain until your complexion has improved a little.
I'm glad there are videos like this that show how to actually shave properly. My dad never taught me to shave since he has a full beard and my mom tried to teach me, but yeah. lol
Hey, I've gotta say, great series of vids. I'm glad there are still people out there who know what they are doing and can educate others. I have one question though: won't so many passes over the face wipe away all the facial oils and badly dehydrate the skin? For me it's bad enough with just 1 or 2...
RFinkle2- Not at all. If you use well-hydrated traditional shave lather your skin will not dry out. I would not say the same thing about shaving foam from a can though!
27riccioconroe- i do shave against the grain but only after i have shave with the grain then across the grain. for your jawline try "j-hooking" (see my "advanced shaving techniques" video)
Great video's, Mantic59. Alot of good information is presented here for new shavers. I myself had been shaving for a year or so before actually watching the video's and they still had alot of good techniques i wasn't aware of.
I shave every other day, & custom shave around my goatee, so I get 2 weeks use from each blade, & maybe 1 dud in 20 blades.
So this equals about 30 bucks for a year 1/2 of shaves.
I follow exactly what he says with preparing your face. It's very important. I use a hot towel for 5 min. I also do it at night so it can indeed be a relaxing ritual, & not a morning chore.
allnamesaretaken4- you just wouldn't understand kid.....shaving is a man tradition and one of the most ritualistic things we men do. It deserves attention to detail. Mantic does a fantastic job at making people realize how great a close, enjoyable shave can be.
So, with that said, grow a pair, and maybe you'll understand.
@GSU2727 Definitely upvoted. If more young men understood the time tested traditions that men do, and how important we keep them alive, there would be less "gender confusion" in the world. Yes, I'm being nice.
Hi, is it normal that after say 7 years of shaving from the age of 18...( 2 times in a week at the beginning to now 4 times)...my chin stubble are really stiff, and requires a bit more pressure than on the cheeks... nevertheless the chin is always rough even after 2 passes...i use multi-blades and shaving gel.
Are you supposed to leave the razor in the safety razor when you store it in between uses? If so can you place the razor on its side without damaging the blade?
p.s. I am kinda picky about this kinda, my sideburns have to be straight, even and clean, in fact that takes up most of my time while i shave. I didnt use to worry so much, but as i grow older the more i want them to be "perfect" . Know what I mean, well anxiously awaiting your response, once again thank you =)
Hi Mantic I have have a question on how to shave sideburns with a cartridge razor. Now when I shave at the morning or night I normally like to use a Mach 3 as i have for years. However for some reason I can never seem to ensure a clean, even sideburn . I have been bringing my straight razor or Fusion with me to trim sideburns. How do I get nice clean, undamaged sideburns with a Mach 3 or safety razor, I don't want to keep bringing more than one razor in the bathroom, any tips? Thanks
I only shave against the grain. Thoughts? Comments?
It's the only way I've ever been able to get a close shave. (I get razor burn like a mother, but to avoid that I let the hair grow for about three or four days)
IanBallyS- I'll bet if you try phased stubble reduction (first with the grain then across the grain then against the grain) you will be able to get a close shave without the razor burn.
Hey, great videos. What is your preferred type of aftershave? Should/could you use both an aftershave and a moisturizer or is it only necessary to use one?
drizzler618- Usually an aftershave has everything a moisturizer has, plus a bit more (to soothe the skin after shaving). There are actually many good aftershaves on the market that are widely available. Just look for something that doesn't have alcohol as the first ingredient.
I've never had any sort of bumps, zits, acne, scars, or any spot on my face for that matter. But I get these bumps within 24 hours of the shave. It's itchy and I end up touching them make it worse and spread. I don't use a shave brush and I am in need of a good after shave. I just bought a Proraso pre-shave creme, applied it last night and it felt GREAT!! It made me want to shave so badly heh, but I still have a bump on my face. Any advice/tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
erfans22- Try this: after your shave rinse your face well with hot water. Then soak a cotton pad (not a cotton ball) with witch hazel and *gently* wipe your face and neck. Then give it a quick rinse with cool water.
So I got Proraso's preshave, cream, soap, and a shaving brush. I make a nice lather and proceed to shave as usual with Mach3. But no matter how much I try, I can NEVER get a close shave. I shave twice with and once across the grain. Yesterday I actually tried stretching the face a little bit and that didn't help either. What am I doing wrong? I'm also thinking about buying an adjustable safety razor. Thanks!
I'm guessing this is also why I get bumps after a day or two because the hair hasn't been completely cut and now it's more sharper and stinges the skin. So when I get a clean shave, hopefully this bumping will go away.
erfans22- Sorry for the delayed reply. Try skipping the second with-grain pass adding an additional pass across the grain from the opposite direction from the first cross-grain pass.
You might also want to try a new blade, lighter touch, skipping the across strokes and just doing to passes with and against the grain. Real good lather is vital since the mach3 is designed to work with their gel lather, which provides a much more easily attainable smooth shave. You really need to pay attention when using proper lather. Also you might want to try a pre-shave oil, the Art of Shaving has one that's particularly good. :)
Do you have any advice for those of us who wait too long between shaves? I sometimes fall into the trap of shaving just once a week and my facial hair gets pretty long and its already relatively thick. Thanks!
P.S. Love your videos, I was actually excited to shave for the first time that I can remember.
ImmortalDragon000- If you use a cartridge razor go out and get some disposable single-blade razors (BIC Sensitive or equivalent). Lots of hot water, a good lather, and use the single blade to reduce the beard (one or two passes with the grain). Then relather and use your cartridge razor.
I like your vids, bro, but I have to say...shaving in this many directions is an almost guaranteed way to severely ingrow the majority of the follicles on the face.
slapstickity76- If you didn't prepare the face properly and used shave foam out of a can I would agree with you. But using proper prep and traditional lathing techniques this is quite possible to do for most people.
Just did my first true wetshave with a Van Der Hagen Boar Brush and Van Der Hagen Soap.
Feels amazing. It's the first time in nearly five years that I've not had to worry about breaking out in bumps or having to worry about the irritated skin.
Thank you very much for the effort you put into creating these videos!
scott78246- Moisturizer and aftershave aren't exactly the same thing, aftershaves contain other ingredients to protect and soothe, but they are pretty close.
i did two passes yesterday using shave soap and my boar brush, but today i broke out with the worst razor bumps under my chin and neck area. any idea on how to prevent this?
While learning how to wet shave expect razor burn. Alcohol is going to sting the crap out of you. At least try and find a product with the least amount of alcohol.
DoubleDTB- An alcohol-based aftershave tends to dry out the skin too much (not to mention the sting). A little alcohol is ok but try to avoid aftershaves that have alcohol as the first ingredient.
With a quality shaving cream/soap it will give you the protection you need to do 3 shaves. Shaving with a safety razor takes more then 1 shave. With each shave you are reducing the hair. Not trying to hack it off with 1 sweep.
ive always shaved with the grain but for like half a year i started to shave against the grain just cause i seemed to get a closer shave (mostly cause i havent replaced my blade for atleast a year). i dont recall ever getting cut or having any problems except maybe some burn. im getting the impression that some people have much more sensitive faces than others cause i dont have any trouble going one shave through against the grain.
Thank you for this series. I've never been able go get the shave I want using traditional commercial products. I'm gonna order this stuff off the internet and try it.
what kind of razor is that you are using in this video. i have been using a Mekur DE razor but its not working out. i wanna try what ever it is u have in this video. lemme know?
I cant thank you enough for these videos. My skin hates razors and used to get irritated no matter what. This method really, really helps. thanks again
How come only some people can shave against the grain???
Every time I try it, I get mass pimples. I haven't even considered doing it again in months, because the last time I did it, my face was turned into a wreck. My face was very, very smooth for the first day of shaving against the grain, but the very next day I saw terrible results...
Is there any way I can shave against the grain, or is it just not meant to be? lol
SJRNWT- There are a lot of variables, including the type of razor and lather used, and how carefully you reduce the beard, not to mention your skin's sensitivity. Its true, some people cannot shave against the grain no matter what.
thanks for posting these great shaving vidoes! im turning 15 in september and i learned that i need to shave and i found these videos very helpful! thank you!
Thanks for the great videos. I'm a little confused about the diagram though. The first set of black arrows seem to change direction, meaning one diagram shows starting on the left and the other on the right (0:49-0:52). The same happens with the red arrows at(2:15-2:18) Does it matter which side of your face you start your first pass?
Probably the most random question related to this video so far, but where did you get those diagrams of the face from? thought it would be a simple google image search but it seems not.
Hey mantic, great vids. I noticed that when you're decreibing the second pass, you're not shaving across the grain as you're describing--you're shaving with the grain, like the 1st pass. Am I goofy or correct here?
i saw that 3 stooges episode when i was like 5 and the first time i heard what wet shaving was i always thought of that scene. shavin with a cut throat lol.
I was wondering if it matters which side of your face you shave first, and if it affects the thickness of hair on that part of your face. I always shave the right side of my face first, but i'm noticing that the hair on that side is thicker(upper cheek) than the left side.
You think it's just the way my facial hair grows? Or should I alternate which side of the face I shave? Thanks mantic :)
jattman07- Some say that you should save the "toughest" part of the beard for last, to get maximum softening from the lather. But I haven't noticed any difference (at least on my face). I don't think it matters but try alternating to see what happens!
Question about aftershave: I notice that you recommend rinsing with cold water, THEN applying aftershave. My local barber recommends putting the aftershave on before the cold rinse, so you get it in before the pores close. Are there advantages/disadvantages to either approach?
NewColdness- I've heard this from others as well. Its probably more important if you're looking for more moisturization of the skin, and less important if you're looking for more protection for the skin from the elements.
although I plan on getting some new cream and a brush soon, at the moment I'm using a gilette fusion and barbasol shaving cream and I do 4 passes with excellent results. the thing is I have very sensitive skin and very dry skin, so it really isn't that bad if you don't apply too much pressure like most people do.
Over the past week, Ive watched all of your videos, probably 3 times each :)
I finally just broke down and ordered a safety razor, brush, shave cream, aftershave and the whole bit. I cant wait for it to arrive! I will be extremely happy if my shaving experience is half as good as your videos.
Im sitting here right now with crazy razor burn from my shave this morning. The hair on my lower neck is so crazy that no matter WHAT direction I shave in, its always against the grain :(
hey mantic im 15 years old and ive been growing hair in all of my face spots, however they are only a few, what would u recommend me to do in order to grow my beard faster and hairier???
my barber recommends shaving really often so i do it every 2 days, is this harming my skin or is it dangerous in some way?
SemphasNecros- The only solution is time. Shaving often to grow hair more quickly is a myth. Shaving normally will not harm your skin, though if you have a serious skin condition you probably need to talk to a dermatologist.
yea... XD not that i trust them its just that i was eager to get an answer and wanted to make sure at least 1 of them would answer LOL i finally get it so i guess 'll stick to the pro's suggestions XD
Shaving won't make it grow faster. It'll grow in thicker, but not faster. I didn't start shaving until I was 15 to get rid of that middle school mustache that we all hate. Even if you shave regularly, you might not even be ready to grow a real beard until you're in your early 20s. It's different for everybody. I'm 18 and my side burns can grow fully as well as chin, but my upper lip grows slowly and the cheeks are patchy so I shave that.
Yeah, same here. Im 18 and my beard is quite thick (probably having something to with my turkish genes), yet the cheek areas are patchy. As for SemphasNecros: waiting is the only solution. the full beardgrowing experience is somewhere in the 20s (for most people).
That is another myth. It will not grow in thicker...however, the blunt end will make it appear thicker! If that were true, all balding men and women with fine hair would have to do would be shaving their heads. Also, you have to consider genetics. The hair will get thicker as your body matures until it is the way it is supposed to be.
Although you're right that facial hair will not get thicker as you shave often, please don't compare a beard or any other body hair with head hair. Persons with more testosterone have more body hair but less head hair. Right answer, but wrong analogy.
absolutly outsanding stuff!! i keep my beard profiled most of the time but i think ill apply some of ur methods to my shaving routine ... plus i can ask my grandad for some advices. he is actually still shaving in old good wetshaving style. :)
Excellent video, great advice. About to try this new method. I often get bad ingrown hairs and tried many shave creams. I am just switching to a shave soap and new brush so hopefully combination of the lot will sort me out. Thanks from England
Lol wicked channel I want to start shaving but my dad never yet frikken taught me! I sometimes use his shaver to slicken up my face. Today I put some weird shaving cream WITHOUT WATER (Mistake I think?) rubbed it all over and shaved LOL I whiped all the crap off and put lotion on my face instead of after shave. Am I in danger?! LOL
Thanks for the videos Mantic! I have a quick question, I notice you rinse with cold water after the first pass and with warm water after the 2nd and 3rd passes. I was always under the impression that you should always rinse with cold water while shaving. Is there something I am missing? Thanks again!
piratebri- Actually I rinse with hot water for all my passes these days. Seems to work better for me. Most folks rinse with hot between passes and cold as a finish.
Great upload!

RFinkle2 2 years ago
RFinkle2- Not at all. If you use well-hydrated traditional shave lather your skin will not dry out. I would not say the same thing about shaving foam from a can though!

The demonstration was "Against the Grain", right? Because I am more of a "With the Grain".
I really just have a hard time shaving the behind the jawline, below the ear area. It's just a weird angle to work my razor into.
27riccioconroe 2 years ago
27riccioconroe- i do shave against the grain but only after i have shave with the grain then across the grain. for your jawline try "j-hooking" (see my "advanced shaving techniques" video)

I just use the basic 2 blade Atra.
40 blades for 30 bucks.
Matter of fact, I think I will go do it now lol.

allnamesaretaken4- you just wouldn't understand kid.....shaving is a man tradition and one of the most ritualistic things we men do. It deserves attention to detail. Mantic does a fantastic job at making people realize how great a close, enjoyable shave can be.

Hi, is it normal that after say 7 years of shaving from the age of 18...( 2 times in a week at the beginning to now 4 times)...my chin stubble are really stiff, and requires a bit more pressure than on the cheeks... nevertheless the chin is always rough even after 2 passes...i use multi-blades and shaving gel.
armadhu 2 years ago
armadhu- Your shave will likely improve quite a bit if you use a proper lather instead of gel.

Are you supposed to leave the razor in the safety razor when you store it in between uses? If so can you place the razor on its side without damaging the blade?
Willyummmmm 3 years ago
I read that wet blades tend to rust easily, staining the razor.
anon540 3 years ago
Willyummmmm- You can usually leave the blade in and store it on its side, as long as you don't keep using it if you drop the razor on the floor. :)

p.s. I am kinda picky about this kinda, my sideburns have to be straight, even and clean, in fact that takes up most of my time while i shave. I didnt use to worry so much, but as i grow older the more i want them to be "perfect" . Know what I mean, well anxiously awaiting your response, once again thank you =)
jvilla82688 3 years ago
Hi Mantic I have have a question on how to shave sideburns with a cartridge razor. Now when I shave at the morning or night I normally like to use a Mach 3 as i have for years. However for some reason I can never seem to ensure a clean, even sideburn . I have been bringing my straight razor or Fusion with me to trim sideburns. How do I get nice clean, undamaged sideburns with a Mach 3 or safety razor, I don't want to keep bringing more than one razor in the bathroom, any tips? Thanks
jvilla82688 3 years ago
I only shave against the grain. Thoughts? Comments?
It's the only way I've ever been able to get a close shave. (I get razor burn like a mother, but to avoid that I let the hair grow for about three or four days)
IanBallyS 3 years ago
IanBallyS- I'll bet if you try phased stubble reduction (first with the grain then across the grain then against the grain) you will be able to get a close shave without the razor burn.

Hey, great videos. What is your preferred type of aftershave? Should/could you use both an aftershave and a moisturizer or is it only necessary to use one?
drizzler618 3 years ago
drizzler618- Usually an aftershave has everything a moisturizer has, plus a bit more (to soothe the skin after shaving).

Thanks!
erfans22 3 years ago
erfans22- Try this: after your shave rinse your face well with hot water. Then soak a cotton pad (not a cotton ball) with witch hazel and *gently* wipe your face and neck. Then give it a quick rinse with cool water.
mantic59 3 years ago
So I got Proraso's preshave, cream, soap, and a shaving brush. I make a nice lather and proceed to shave as usual with Mach3. But no matter how much I try, I can NEVER get a close shave. I shave twice with and once across the grain. Yesterday I actually tried stretching the face a little bit and that didn't help either. What am I doing wrong? I'm also thinking about buying an adjustable safety razor. Thanks!
erfans22 3 years ago
I'm guessing this is also why I get bumps after a day or two because the hair hasn't been completely cut and now it's more sharper and stinges the skin. So when I get a clean shave, hopefully this bumping will go away.
erfans22 3 years ago
erfans22- Sorry for the delayed reply. Try skipping the second with-grain pass adding an additional pass across the grain from the opposite direction from the first cross-grain pass.
mantic59 3 years ago
You might also want to try a new blade, lighter touch, skipping the across strokes and just doing to passes with and against the grain. Real good lather is vital since the mach3 is designed to work with their gel lather, which provides a much more easily attainable smooth shave. You really need to pay attention when using proper lather. Also you might want to try a pre-shave oil, the Art of Shaving has one that's particularly good. :)
sstorholm 3 years ago
Do you have any advice for those of us who wait too long between shaves? I sometimes fall into the trap of shaving just once a week and my facial hair gets pretty long and its already relatively thick. Thanks!
P.S. Love your videos, I was actually excited to shave for the first time that I can remember.
ImmortalDragon000 3 years ago
ImmortalDragon000- If you use a cartridge razor go out and get some disposable single-blade razors (BIC Sensitive or equivalent). Lots of hot water, a good lather, and use the single blade to reduce the beard (one or two passes with the grain). Then relather and use your cartridge razor.
mantic59 3 years ago
I like your vids, bro, but I have to say...shaving in this many directions is an almost guaranteed way to severely ingrow the majority of the follicles on the face.
slapstickity76 3 years ago
slapstickity76- If you didn't prepare the face properly and used shave foam out of a can I would agree with you. But using proper prep and traditional lathing techniques this is quite possible to do for most people.

DoubleDTB 3 years ago
DoubleDTB- The odds are you either did not prepare your face enough or that you pressed down too much with the razor.
mantic59 3 years ago
why should i use an aftershave that has no alcohol in it?
DoubleDTB 3 years ago
While learning how to wet shave expect razor burn. Alcohol is going to sting the crap out of you. At least try and find a product with the least amount of alcohol.
LoveThyPitBull 3 years ago
DoubleDTB- An alcohol-based aftershave tends to dry out the skin too much (not to mention the sting). A little alcohol is ok but try to avoid aftershaves that have alcohol as the first ingredient.
mantic59 3 years ago
you shaved 3 times.
I don't think I want to shave three times.
It will irritate my skin and cause breakout.
Any idea on how I can get a closer shave with one time shave?
Thanks
randomhelper101 3 years ago
With a quality shaving cream/soap it will give you the protection you need to do 3 shaves. Shaving with a safety razor takes more then 1 shave. With each shave you are reducing the hair. Not trying to hack it off with 1 sweep.

hi im a little confused...
ive always shaved with the grain but for like half a year i started to shave against the grain just cause i seemed to get a closer shave (mostly cause i havent replaced my blade for atleast a year). i dont recall ever getting cut or having any problems except maybe some burn. im getting the impression that some people have much more sensitive faces than others cause i dont have any trouble going one shave through against the grain.

There's no way in hell I could use this method. I say go with the grain if you have to shave every morning. For missed spots, use a close up mirror.
Tybalt114 3 years ago
How come only some people can shave against the grain???
Every time I try it, I get mass pimples. I haven't even considered doing it again in months, because the last time I did it, my face was turned into a wreck. My face was very, very smooth for the first day of shaving against the grain, but the very next day I saw terrible results...
Is there any way I can shave against the grain, or is it just not meant to be? lol
SJRNWT 3 years ago
SJRNWT- There are a lot of variables, including the type of razor and lather used, and how carefully you reduce the beard, not to mention your skin's sensitivity. Its true, some people cannot shave against the grain no matter what.

i saw that 3 stooges episode when i was like 5 and the first time i heard what wet shaving was i always thought of that scene. shavin with a cut throat lol.
death5089 3 years ago
Hey mantic,
I was wondering if it matters which side of your face you shave first, and if it affects the thickness of hair on that part of your face. I always shave the right side of my face first, but i'm noticing that the hair on that side is thicker(upper cheek) than the left side.
You think it's just the way my facial hair grows? Or should I alternate which side of the face I shave? Thanks mantic :)
jattman07 3 years ago
jattman07- Some say that you should save the "toughest" part of the beard for last, to get maximum softening from the lather. But I haven't noticed any difference (at least on my face). I don't think it matters but try alternating to see what happens!
mantic59 3 years ago
Me again.
Question about aftershave: I notice that you recommend rinsing with cold water, THEN applying aftershave. My local barber recommends putting the aftershave on before the cold rinse, so you get it in before the pores close. Are there advantages/disadvantages to either approach?
NewColdness 3 years ago
NewColdness- I've heard this from others as well. Its probably more important if you're looking for more moisturization of the skin, and less important if you're looking for more protection for the skin from the elements.
mantic59 3 years ago
how do you shave so near your chin without getting cut?
dumpling9999 3 years ago
dumpling9999- Practice. That wasn't meant to be a snarky comment, just the truth. As you refine your technique things like that will get easier.
mantic59 3 years ago
I'm amazed the guy in the video didn't get cut when I see the razor tugging at his skin at every swipe. Frightening!
Each patch of skin gets 5 or 6 passes per razorblade in this shave... how many blades are in that cartridge? If only the skin could talk - aaaaugh!
anwealde 3 years ago
although I plan on getting some new cream and a brush soon, at the moment I'm using a gilette fusion and barbasol shaving cream and I do 4 passes with excellent results. the thing is I have very sensitive skin and very dry skin, so it really isn't that bad if you don't apply too much pressure like most people do.

hey mantic im 15 years old and ive been growing hair in all of my face spots, however they are only a few, what would u recommend me to do in order to grow my beard faster and hairier???
my barber recommends shaving really often so i do it every 2 days, is this harming my skin or is it dangerous in some way?
SemphasNecros 4 years ago
SemphasNecros- The only solution is time. Shaving often to grow hair more quickly is a myth. Shaving normally will not harm your skin, though if you have a serious skin condition you probably need to talk to a dermatologist.

semphas 4 years ago
Shaving won't make it grow faster. It'll grow in thicker, but not faster. I didn't start shaving until I was 15 to get rid of that middle school mustache that we all hate. Even if you shave regularly, you might not even be ready to grow a real beard until you're in your early 20s. It's different for everybody. I'm 18 and my side burns can grow fully as well as chin, but my upper lip grows slowly and the cheeks are patchy so I shave that.
Freepablo 4 years ago
Yeah, same here. Im 18 and my beard is quite thick (probably having something to with my turkish genes), yet the cheek areas are patchy. As for SemphasNecros: waiting is the only solution. the full beardgrowing experience is somewhere in the 20s (for most people).
canscheer 4 years ago 2
That is another myth. It will not grow in thicker...however, the blunt end will make it appear thicker! If that were true, all balding men and women with fine hair would have to do would be shaving their heads. Also, you have to consider genetics. The hair will get thicker as your body matures until it is the way it is supposed to be.
elphie4507 3 years ago
Although you're right that facial hair will not get thicker as you shave often, please don't compare a beard or any other body hair with head hair. Persons with more testosterone have more body hair but less head hair. Right answer, but wrong analogy.
