Even if it is a quarter turn short, good Lord, great jump. Anyone who skates knows how hard this is. Who are you? What competitions are you in? Please do this at Nationals. :)
Wish we could slow mo it on youtube. If it is fully rotated up to and including 1/4 turn under rotation then he would get full value for it. If it is slightly more than a quarter to 1/2 turn underrotated it would be considered underrotated and get 70% of the value of a quad. 1/2 or more gets downgraded and value of a triple jump.
Geez what little skating I have done does not compare to this. If you dislike someone's work that much then get out there yourself and try it. Hateful comments such as some here that appear on many individual's skating posts are what contribute to many being afraid to try a subjective sport at all.
This jump is 3/4 rotated to all of you figure skating experts here. The missing 1/4 rotation doesn't make it a triple! pairskater100 is actually right: according to ISU regulations this jump would be marked with an < and get 70% of a quad-value which is still worth more than a triple.
So much hate! It is a quad! Get over it! It may be a tad-bit under-rotated but who cares? No one has EVER done this jump in competition.......it's just a bit on the difficult side.......The fact that he stands up on it is amazing enough by itself....
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! It is also amazing that some people don't seem to realize that the fact that he even attempted (let alone coming very close to landing it perfectly cleanly) a 4L, in and of itself, is newsworthy. If you are quibbling over minor rotational issues here, you probably don't even realize what a sensetional attempt this was.
that loop was outstanding but i actually paused the rotation right when the foot touched and seen that it landed sideways before turning fully backwards but keep working hard on it and you will land a completed quad loop all the way around one day!
Right on the 1/4 under-rotation on the landing. (Downloaded the vid and super slow motioned it) Depending upon the viewing angle would determine whether he got credit for full rotation or under-rotated. Even if this jump was under-rotated, he would get 8.4 points for it under the current under-rotation rules, .1 points less than a triple axel. Good attempt. He pre-rotates the jump EXACTLY like a loop should be done. Excellent!
Full value for this jump is 12 points under the current system
how can people even say that this is under rotated?! There are just a handful of people in the world who can criticise this jump( because they can do better) and I don't think anybody here has the right to do that.
@dinka0 there is no need to do things yourself to make a critic, if that was like that there wouldn't be a panel of ISU judges in every competition, or in any other sort of competition, there wouldn't even be coaches, how would they say if the element was well executed if the can't do it themselves according to your logic. Anyway I liked the jump
nice!! evenhis is not fully completed gorgeus attempt!! dont read the bad comments, there are always jelous people! keep doing it!! , whats the name of this guy?
It might be a bit underrotated. It's hard to catch, but if you pause it as soon as he lands, it looks like its a little underrotated. Under the old judging system that wouldn't matter, he would get the credit for it, but with the new system, they would punish him for that. It sucks, I know.
quite clearly not edited, there's a fair few guys trying and doing these quads now. there's even a link from this video to Konstantin Menshov who does the same jump. I've skated against him and he makes quad toe look simple so there's no reason these guys can't do quad loop and others.
Chris did many quad salchows and quad loops in training as I used to train with him. This is not edited, he's just an extremely talented jumper and skater in general. This is one of a few completed 4loops that he did on tape. He did a few after this one with even better GOE. Unreal.
@gr8sk8s I know this is Chris Mabee from Canada and he is known to have this jump in his repertoire. I showed it to some friends, professional skaters that do international shows and they knew about him and the jump already.
Speed = Height = Distance. Brian Boitano/Madori Ito/Alexie Yagudin their jumps are so high rotations are finished before their skates lands the ice surface. Kinna sad, that with new ISU scoring, it's more focus toward Grade of Execution (GOE). In a nutshell, if you land all triple jumps cleanly, fully rotated, and textbook (meaning, toes pointed, back straight and the correct edge), you get full credit PLUS extra couple points for GOE's reason why Yuna Kim has 22 points ahead in the Olympics.
Old ISU scoring system: this is clean. New ISU scoring system; they will downgrade the quad to triple loop. Rule stated - must be 2/3 rotated on a landing point to get full credit. At time frame on this video 0:04, it's under-rotated. I think it's unfair - Mao Asada landed so many Triple Axels & half have been downgraded. Under the rule of "GOE" - grade of execution. It's a +/- 3 points. If I was judge; I'll gave it to him. But Technical Referee would call it a downgrade - that's his job.
@MrPogostickuser123 Your right! I think after 2010 Vancouver Olympics; a lot of things have changed. Everything is so focus towards grade of execution. Whom ever landed a perfect clean program; basically wins the gold. So those high risk elements, are all said and done. It's too bad because that makes Olympic exciting. Not just winning the gold but almost performing the most difficult technical program and show world that it can be done. Happy Skating!
A quad loop? Phenomenal!!! I wonder how much a quad loop would be worth with the new skating system now. The quad toe loop is worth nine points. A quad loop would be worth a few more since a loop is harder to do than a toe loop. Skaters should try doing these in competition. From what I know, it hasn't been done in competion yet. Or has it?
It hasn't been landed yet in competition. Only the quad toe loop and quad salchow have, though quad loops and lutzes have been recorded....and 2 footed in competition..
mind=blown....
