@rollinfever15 Benny Greb, Wolfgang Haffner, Stanton Moore, Dave Weckl....there are just as many great white players ;) I´m white too...and make a living playing Drums. Although sometimes I´m the only white Guy in the Band! :D
@JCdrummer33 i agree it is a ridiculous metronome, but saying the subdivisions out loud as you play is so helpful. it works towards, basically 5-way co-ordination, and you have 100% awareness of what you are playing
I love the way he emphasises that it's loving to play that kicks off the whole thing. You have to love it. Loving what you do will make it resonate with you. Loving what you do is, quiet literally, the gift that keeps on giving. Great attitude to have. Love this guy's vibe!
@MrRyanSams it makes sense from how you state it , but either way , he should just simply call it the RIM system. Shouldn't matter that it relates to hardware on a drum kit.
Obviously great but he needs to lose the Christian preachy thing and that horrible lady yelling at him "and 1 and 2 and 3 and 4". Who is that, his wife?
@eqsmooth that'd be a programmed metronome buddy. and you realize you're shit talking about one of the most innovative and creative drummers in this lifetime?
@HeScreamsEpic Shove that clue up your oh so significant christian ass, ya know like? Bitch! Play don't preach. revelation, incubation and manifestation, and 1 and 2 and 2 and 3 and 4
@HeScreamsEpic What did I say first and foremost? I wrote that he is obviously great. Quit reacting.I have every right to gently critique his teaching style, delivery and the programmed metronome. That would annoy me in clinic. I've been to hundreds of clinics and never heard such a thing. So back off. I watch thousands of drum videos. You trolled and found me and like you said you are the one rippin' or is it hatin? Take it easy.
@eqsmooth haha i wouldnt really call it 'gently critiquing' you 'stupid cunt'. and im pretty sure the only one who needs to take it easy is you, you dont see me writing paragraphs of complete bullshit.
@eqsmooth stop lessons and lose the metronome.....yeah who needs! those am I right Eqsmooth?! Its all about changing tempos constantly and improper technique.
@chernamin What an idiot. I've been to far more clinics than you would ever dream of. My comment was about annoying the SOUND of the metronome. I've never heard such a thing. If you want that noise in your head rather than an a click then have at it Hoss. Fuckin' dick.
Really? Don't piss me off. Here are JUST SOME of my clinic experiences for you. I have seen these drummers & bassists. Almost all were great. Jonathan Mover, ALEX ACUNA, DAVE WECKL (5X), LOUIS BELLSON (2x), TOMMY ALDRIDGE, DEEN CASTRONOVO, TERRY BOZZIO, MARVN SMITY SMITH, JOE MORELLO, ATMA ANUR, STEVE SMITH (2x, BILL BRUFORD, KENNY ARONOFF, TROY LUCKETTA, DENNIS CHAMBERS, BUDDY RICH (2x), SIMON PHILLIPS. Need I go on? Buddy Rich was such an asshole I heckled him. He flipped me off twice. Truth.
@Drums5B Dr. Beat. Idk how much it costs, but my band director has one and hooks it up over a PA for the jazz band. It also has drum beats and you can change up the subdivision. I bet it ain't cheap.
One of my TOP fav all time drummers just do to the creativity and not sounding like evrybody else! Stev gadd n vinnie tho are my top for there creativity n technique! Check my drum vids out at eclef on here, honest opinions n thanx.
Every time he talks and does a clinic, watch how he has to always be touching his set. Usually he's tightening up the cymbals. Such a drummer; we always have to have our hands doing something musical even if we're talking!
It's somewhat more sensible to do clinics for drummers since the audience doesn't so easily grow tired of watching and listening when it comes to a shiny and loud drumset.
@SucramNumber2 Listen to what he's doing. He's not just hitting everything he can. There's a definite form to it. And he has complete control over what he's doing, so he's not going crazy.
@smurfhunterguy no, i like good drummers and i am a drummer. but i see it all the time. its not jaw dropping to me as it once was. im not sayin hes not good, just that im not impressed.
He walked by me when I was at the Meinl booth at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt. He caught me starring at him, cause I wasn't sure if it was him or not. Must have looked funny ;)
I saw Chris Coleman do a clinic at DiCenso's Drum Shop in Weymouth, MA, last year. He was a mind-blowing player and also a super-sweet guy. Awesome stuff!
@brettorrmusic I mean no disrespect but there are a lot more drummers who are Precise....not just John Blackwell....his influences Billy Cobham,Dennis Chambers and Yogi Horton just to name a few are some of the reasons why Chris and John play the way they play.
