  • its not in timing with the music

  • to me her singing is way too delayed and over-accentuated.....

  • 4:46雙遠系轉調時,他讓horns拉出共同音,小提琴的背景用分散和弦。

  • B to E flat I mean.

  • 4:35~4:50 flute and string piz., 4:46 is a 雙遠系轉調

  • @NemoProkofiev551 Don't worry, you're not alone.

  • @prettysadgirl It´s Czech language (also Dvorak´s native language.)

  • This is the very best version on Youtube!

  • @aussiechickdiana I'm very glad you enjoy the music.

  • goose has bumped me! . I wish i could understand Czech

  • @enlightmentage come over and you can learn :)

  • A modest suggestion for your splendid collection: "My Fatherland: The Moldau" by Smetana is an ethereally beautiful piece. Not to mention Smetana is Czech, which is also a fantastic quality :)

  • Oh my goodness who are you, WickedNorth!! Your channel is a delightful collection of ALL of my favorite songs- I really wish I could boast more of a heritage, but sometimes I pretend I'm half Russian.

  • @hannahp730 You obviously have great musical taste.. glad you enjoy it.

  • @hannahp730 As long as you know that Dvorak ain't Russian but Czech ;)

  • @CandyCrayon91

Yes, I knew he wasn't Russian- I just have a special place for Russian music and folk tales. I appreciate your concern for the reputation of Dvorak, however :D

  • @hannahp730 Just don't say that in front of a Czech today :p

  • definitely one of the top 5

  • I know it's just a slight motif, but is anyone else reminded of the sailor moon theme at 2:12 - 2:18?

  • one of the most beautiful arias ever

  • So beautiful. Bicentennial Man came out in 1999 when I was only 10 years old. There's a scene where he's in the basement listening to this, and since then I've been trying to find the name of this song. I thank you.

  • @MrPandemonius1 HAHAHAHAH is that really what they were listening to?!? I never realized!

  • he sort of looks like a skinnier orson welles in this painting

  • Another beautiful work by my favorite Romantic composer. Thanks for posting this amazing piece as well as Scythian Suite by my favorite 20th century composer, Prokofiev. :)

  • holy fuck

  • It's Lucia Popp and she's wonderful

  • makes me tear up a little :/

  • The most beautiful Aria I have ever heard

  • I'd like to be able to sing this to the moon :)

  • he does look like a dvokrak

  • Não vejo o nome dos interpretes!

  • Who's singing - Renee Fleming?

  • beautiful music!

  • Yes, Dvořák was definitely straight. He was actually in love with one of his students, but she married someone else, and he married her sister. Fabio Ucelli, in his book "'s Farewell", says that Dvořák's cello concerto was his goodbye to America, but it may also have been his farewell to his sister-in-law, who had died just before it was written. This seems plausible, as he cited a family crisis when leaving his post as director of our National Conservatory of Music to return to Bohemia.

  • so subtle, so gentle, so wisp...

  • The melody done by the vocalist reminds me a lot to "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", maybe a source of inspiration.

  • Amazing, one of my all time favourites.

What album/collection are these recordings from? I can't seem to find this particular version and in my opinion it's the best.

  • this version is sung by Lucia Popp and it's on "The Best Opera Album In The World ... Ever" which was released in 1996 by Virgin Records

  • Probably one of Dvorak's greatest achievements; aside from surviving Manhattan ;P

And purbrookian, big fat thumbs up to you!

  • BRILLIANT!

    One of my favorite arias.

    So beautifuly sung.

    Thank you .

  • Magnificent !

  • No, Ballet Boy, there's no gods. But there was a Dvorak.

  • That is the single most amazing comment I've ever seen on youtube. Good job purbrookian

  • @purbrookian :) I knof his grandgrand-son. He even looks like Antonin. He is married to my fathers sister. A musician as well, named Vilmous :D

  • it's soooooo beautiful. i actually started to tear up. it's awe inspiring.

  • exquisite

  • I'm pretty sure he was straight....Tchaikovsky on the other hand....

  • @justasondheimbaby

What else are you interested in....if anything?

To other people: I absolutely adore this. I am of course a Dvorak fan. Here it is sung so beautifully, I can hardly refrain from choking up,

    Aled

  • @ifuliki I was replying to BalletBabyBoy (see below) Just clarifying that Dvorak was straight. Tchaikovsky was not. I also choke up when I hear Lucia Popp sing this gorgeous aria.

  • My point was I fail to see why the sexual orientation of this or that artist, politician,

crook is of interest to You Tube. Now, as part of the bio many aspects of a life and career including the sexual orientarion may be of interest especially if it impacts work or career. French have it right and could NOT CARE LESS if this or that celebrity has interesting extracurricular activities if he/shecan sing, paint, dance. act or govern. Unlike the Americans who ...........'nuff said, I guess

    Aled

  • @ifuliki You've missed the point completely. Balletbabyboy was trying to say that to have such a talented composer counted as a member of our community is a point of pride.

  • justasondheimbaby

Oh, I see. I s'pose I should be proud that VaughanWilliams was a Welshman. I

don't care although I enjoy his music along with

    the music of all composers.

The gay community ought not to want to

be distinguished from the larger community for its artistic accomplishments. However, this is just one man's point of view and I do not seek to quarrel. Francis Bacon who, it is claimed, wrote or co-wrote the works attributed to the Bard of Avon was also gay. How about that?

    Aled

  • justasondheimbaby

I should explain that I am not gay but believe gay men and women fully deserve their place in the sun too. Many have contributed greatly to our culture.

    Aled

  • @justasondheimbaby hey I like that part at 2:53...how do they do it..? abslute chanting..

  • @goodbyelonglive44 I don't know which instrument per say, but its created by the string section for sure. If they have the recording device in the appropriate place and they play that section a certain way (I forgot the term, but I know it involves a strong depression of the strings and quick bow movement) you'll get a certain sound. Combine one instrument with...what...15? Thus, you get that sound. Well, at least that's what I think: I'm not really an expert on these things.

  • @Stingchu1 well that is impossible to make with midi..I think..

  • @goodbyelonglive44 what is midi? I've never heard of that.

  • @goodbyelonglive44 well its when people make music out of computer generated freequencies.......they sound quite unnatural..

  • @justasondheimbaby married a woman just to hide his own homosexuality

then had an anxiety attack and possibly killed himself

  • @aznminr123 Who gives a flying shit if Dvorak was a homosexual or not?!?!? His music is brilliant! At its best it deserves a place at the top with the other masters (Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, etc.). Enjoy the music

  • @jubjub2112 no, not dvorak

    we were talking about tchaikovsky

  • @jubjub2112

I agree with you on that...totally!

I just love their music, i do not give a shit about them (i mean, about their preferences) =)

  • Exquisitely beautiful...a gay man created this magnificent opera and it's beautiful melodies...yes there is a God..

  • looks like orson welles in discuise...

  • uploaded on my mom's birthday, can't believe I missed it
