Smiling at their cameras? I think this is exactly what they wanted to have so everything went right! I only feel sorry for the shark who ended up biting the cage! The most amazing creatures on earth, I just love them.

Dumb idiots, that shark probably broke a couple of teeth on the steel cage. That white shark is huge, though definitely close to 5 meters. You can see how powerfully they latch onto their prey with their bite. A human would almost certainly die from a bite of one of these animals.

1. divers often wear black wet suits which make the shark believe that he is some sortof seal (thei favorite food).

2. When sharks attack surfers that aren't wearing a wet suit is because when they're paddling out for another wave front the sharks point of view they look like an injured seal on the surface of the water.

3. Once they do take a bite of a human they say ''eww what the fuck was that'' and they let go. A bite from a big shark however is deadly.

They only don't eat people because their hunting tactics don't work well on people. They hunt large fish by taking a large bite out of them, wait for them to weaken, and then move in for the kill - whereas we scramble to shore.

Some facts for you:

- We have no idea of their numbers, mainly as they're migratory.

- They're protected.

- Their main prey are NOT protected, & populations are suffering heavily from overfishing.

- diets are shifting to seals & turtles

Sharks prefer oily fatty food, they attack us out of mistaken identity and being in their hunting zones. there's nothing particularly scary about baiting a shark in with the intention of its colliding with the cage. it's just an irresponsible way of creating "thrills" for the customers and essentially abusing the shark. a responsible dive operation would not resort to this.

shark mouths are not impervious to damage, which is why seal-silhouette decoys are generally made from carpet and not denser/harder materials.
