@markvinas31 you are nuts the OV-10 was an observation plane the A-1 had more hard points than any other fighter or attack aircraft in the US military at that time and it could loiter for hours to cover troops in addition a U.S. Skyraider pilot received the Medal of Honor for landing under fire on a road to pick another A-1 pilot who had been shoot down the OV-10 cant beat that.

@markvinas31 Not in US military service and there a some privately owned A-1s flying around.The A-1 was first flown in 1945 and served in Korea and Vietnam even though thy had stopped production in the late 50's all the ones flown by the USAF and SVAF where second hand from retired Navy A-1s(they had been replaced by the A-4) The A-1 was a great plane because it found new life even after being replaced in by one branch of the military and there are a lot of guys who are alive today thanks A-1.

@TheHondamonkey maybe not but the OV-10 is still a fantastic plane and served well in Nam. It was an observation plane only in the books, they used it for plenty of rocket and gun runs, not to mention it was ideal for calling in artillery and naval bombardment. I've even heard stories of co-pilots opening the hatch and shooting their sub-machine guns at the NVA down below at really low altitudes and speeds.
