Being a Dr. myself, I know for a fact any other Dr. would not allow you to do this at home, or advise you to do so,.. he could lose his licence. People have been lancing boils at home for thousands of years... The doctor would do the same thing. She actually needs to squeeze it more and deeper to get the rest out... then betadine and he will be fine. I and others I know have treated plenty of animal wounds like this and never even sterilized them afterwards and they healed up fine. You don't even have to sew them up, just leave it open to drain. In fact keeping it open to drain a couple days and packing it with sterile gauze is great.

The "patient" recovered nicely and has a small scar near his knee. He did feel better following the "event". The towel was thrown out afterwards. Yes an exacto knife was used, the towel was clean, Grandma was a nurse, the long time family Doc did explain what to do and the "patient" did go to the office the next day for some more cleaning and packing of the site. I apologize for the screaming, it was much worse to see in person.
