If a guy can't be disciplined in his sexual life then he should not be in the military. That goes for heterosexual as well as gay men. That has nothing to do with being honest about your orientation. There are leaders in the military who are gay who are incredibly disciplined and some of them are now out.

What if allegations are flying around that this soldier is gay and the serviceman cannot be honest about himself? Being honorable is being honest. A serviceman or servicewoman should be judged by the content of their character not by their orientation yet they are constantly judged by their orientation and that is PRECISELY WHY Don't Ask Don't Tell must be taken down.

I mean I hear these horror stories of the rape of female members of the service by male servicemen and how the cases just get overlooked and not reported sometimes until years later. This is the kind of hypocrisy that has to end. Those servicemen involved in anything like that should get a dishonorable discharge and be court marshalled.

Sex happens in the military whether DODT is in force or not. It has happened even in the 1860's during the Civil War as there are photos of men together who were lovers during that time. The vast number of military historians concede that Alexander the Great (thought by many to be the greatest military leader in history) was gay or at least bi-sexual. I think 68chargerlover needs to look at the other great nations who have openly gay men and women serving valiantly in their military.
