UK red-light cameras are activated by loops cut into the road, laid under the tarmac. You have to be moving at 12mph+ for the camera to be activated. There is no in-built camera sensor that will trigger it using lights.
Magnets don't set it off...the loop in the ground in front of the large solid white painted line detects large pieces of metal... Either a bike or car... try a shopping trolley!
At this rail crossing in my US city they put photo cams facing the sidewalk as well, if the road wasn't bad enough. You don't have a license on your body, but this looks like they have other ways of figuring stuff out.
And, in my neighborhood, I set off a speed detector on my bicycle, only 20mph uphill, because I'm a little heavy. So what does that say about this tech?
The ones in the US by Peek Traffic and ACS use Inductive Loop wire imbedded in the road. They use a Lead Loop, and a Lag Loop . 2 sets of loops in each lane. Make the loops @14mph and you will set the cam off if the light is REd. I use to install these money hungry robocops...
dude you have to be moving in excess of 13mph to trigger the camera...Try a Bicycle next time. NO magnets needed. The Loops detect a mass of metal. Try a bike and trash can top @14mph. That will work

In order to do this you need to understand how they work.
Radar, or loop detector, it is looking for a given quantity of ferrous metal close to the ground.
The reason you failed is the very reason that bicycles and motorbikes do not trigger the traffic controls.
The reason that magnets work, and why yours was a failure, was the size of the magnetic field.
One powerful magnet is by far more effective than a jumble of small ones and one small one is always better than a bunch stuck together.

It's actually a metal detector under there. Not so much mass, but all that metal from the cars will get picked up, but it will be very unlikely for motorcycles to be picked up.
I have experienced this a few times, and it can be frustrating when the light stays red for hours, until a car finally wants to go the same way. I was tempted to go through it but it was a busy road.
It seems to be an advantage with red light cameras though, but don't count on it.

This is not a 'busy' intersection guys - except maybe in Australia. And even your tough-guys are wusses. UK red-light cameras are activated by loops cut into the road, laid under the tarmac. You have to be moving at 12mph+ for the camera to be activated. There is no in-built camera sensor that will trigger it using lights.

At this rail crossing in my US city they put photo cams facing the sidewalk as well, if the road wasn't bad enough. You don't have a license on your body, but this looks like they have other ways of figuring stuff out.

The ones in the US by Peek Traffic and ACS use Inductive Loop wire imbedded in the road. They use a Lead Loop, and a Lag Loop . 2 sets of loops in each lane. Make the loops @14mph and you will set the cam off if the light is REd. I use to install these money hungry robocops...

dude you have to be moving in excess of 13mph to trigger the camera...Try a Bicycle next time. NO magnets needed. The Loops detect a mass of metal. Try a bike and trash can top @14mph. That will work
