ive always thought that this trailer makes the game look so much more epic and mature than it actually is. which is not to say that game was not mature, it was, much more so than most other FPS's. nonetheless, in comparison to the setup this trailer made, the FC2's story was just underwhelming. here's hoping FC3 will return to roots, from what E3 showed, it just might!

Theres a refference to the movie "Lord of War" in this game. If you ask the gun shop owner for work sometimes he will say something like "Theres a Ukranian transporting weapons to my competetor, I want you to take it out." cause Yuri Orlov is Ukranian and ofcourse everyone knows hes a Gun Runner.
I belive this has some relation to Darfur, Sudan. If you look at the two major factions in Darfur it is Sudanese Liberation Army (SLA) and the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) in Farcry 2 it is the APR and UFLL. Also the goverment doesn't get involved in this game or in real-life Darfur, Sudan mainly because the goverment funds and encourages these militias. Now as for mercenaries or security contractors, they do hire a number of contracters to help them in the fray.
No lean, No prone, no nightvision or a flashlight (if you can get a hold of a gun with a aimpoint sight you can get a hold of some NOS), the monoacle is retarded (as if there are no variable zoom binoculars in africa), guns have the charging handles on the wrong side half the time, reload animations are wrong, missions are repetitive, no civilians in free roam, stealth is broken...etc. This is a console shooter, and if it didnt have the far cry title, it might be fine. Not a great game however.
People who hate this game are call of duty heads who don't know how to take it slowly. Watch a gameplay trailer of this. Where is the player standing?

I found this game more mature than a lot of other fps games! Anyone else checked out the Reuben Blog by the way? A lot of people even commented on his writings, fabricated or not, lol
and after all these years i look and there are still comments only a day old saying its great, THAT is how you know this is a MUST HAVE game :D on my 6th play-through now and its still as fun as ever.
Vehicles also seem to get stuck a lot, and you never seem to be able to run for long. Still, fortunately I'm on the PC version, so I have a rather handy save/load feature.
Funny to hear Ruben saying this, since you hardly ever hear his voice in the game itself. Still, FC2 is a great game; one of the few that have actually made me feel like I was in a realistic scenario. You can only not like it because realistic is difficult to you.

@MJ4everTheKing Obviously you have NEVER played Far Cry 2. This is a completely unique experience in Far Cry 2. Crysis and Fallout are COMPLETELY different. They're both a lot more futureistic than Far Cry 2. You just can't afford an Xbox 360, PS3 or PC that's worth a crap enough to play Far Cry 2.

I love this game but, its very painful doing missions and i just close it after each mission because of the checkpoints, and the fact EVERYONE wants to kill you... Its just constant people coming out of nowhere and shooting you, they arent hard to defeat but its just unecessary.
I consider this one of the best games to have come out. The pyrotechnics are amazing, the environment are utterly beautiful. The change in weather from night to day and rain and shine is also excellent. I spent maybe a month in a half playing storyline and haven't beaten it yet, too busy killing all the rebels and enjoying the scenary. If you like good graphics, a rich environment and free roam, this is a must.

in my opinion, this game could have been the best fps ever. but there was so many idiotic things that just fucking frustrate the player. for example 57 guard posts all across the fucking map, every time you drive on the road you'll meet another moron that will try to kill you. every mission you have to drive half the map (bus stations are only 5 and are rarely usefull). you are obligated to do missions for malaria pills, the 2 bars are kinda far from the cities, and you have no safehouse in city
they could've at least removed the checkpoints, i don't mind driving around, admiring the view, but to have to stop because a couple of idiots put an empty bus in the middle of a cross-road is just stupid. and what moron builds is bar 3-4 miles from the only bar in the region (even more distance in boa-sako). this mike guy must be a very very dumb individual
yeah i wouldnt remove the checkpoints complete but put them more rare and if you kill everbody they dont respawn that quickly they should respawn after one day or so
and the 2 factions shoudnt only shoot on me they should shoot on eachother! like in stalker clear sky they should move towards enemy positions and attack them and in missions the side im working for shouldn shoot on me either
@NshadowAssasin well if there wouldnt be any enemy on road, u could do missions more easily, if there would be just certain places where enemy is (like corners of map or smting), but not on road/wilderness, map prbably would be kinda desert? No enemy, No challenge
@NshadowAssasin I agree with most of that, except for the amount of bus stations. There would have been less need for the bus stations, if driving on your own wasn't so damn annoying.
They should have turned down the spawning (Like Fallout 3's 3 day respawn), and made fewer "hostile" guard posts.
Also, making the guard posts ask for a "toll" would have been awesome. I can imagine the guy saying "Give me diamonds" and I'm like "I'll give you bullet"

@OliLay farcry1 and farcry instincts was 50 times better than farcry 2 and the makers of farcry 1 and instincts also made crysis however ubisoft screwed it up and made farcry 2

@MJ4everTheKing Obviously you have NEVER played Far Cry 2. This is a completely unique experience in Far Cry 2. Crysis and Fallout are COMPLETELY different. They're both a lot more futureistic than Far Cry 2. You just can't afford an Xbox 360, PS3 or PC that's worth a crap enough to play Far Cry 2.

I love this game but, its very painful doing missions and i just close it after each mission because of the checkpoints, and the fact EVERYONE wants to kill you... Its just constant people coming out of nowhere and shooting you, they arent hard to defeat but its just unecessary.

I consider this one of the best games to have come out. The pyrotechnics are amazing, the environment are utterly beautiful. The change in weather from night to day and rain and shine is also excellent. I spent maybe a month in a half playing storyline and haven't beaten it yet, too busy killing all the rebels and enjoying the scenary. If you like good graphics, a rich environment and free roam, this is a must.

in my opinion, this game could have been the best fps ever. but there was so many idiotic things that just fucking frustrate the player. for example 57 guard posts all across the fucking map, every time you drive on the road you'll meet another moron that will try to kill you. every mission you have to drive half the map (bus stations are only 5 and are rarely usefull). you are obligated to do missions for malaria pills, the 2 bars are kinda far from the cities, and you have no safehouse in city

they could've at least removed the checkpoints, i don't mind driving around, admiring the view, but to have to stop because a couple of idiots put an empty bus in the middle of a cross-road is just stupid. and what moron builds is bar 3-4 miles from the only bar in the region (even more distance in boa-sako). this mike guy must be a very very dumb individual

yeah i wouldnt remove the checkpoints complete but put them more rare and if you kill everbody they dont respawn that quickly they should respawn after one day or so
and the 2 factions shoudnt only shoot on me they should shoot on eachother! like in stalker clear sky they should move towards enemy positions and attack them and in missions the side im working for shouldn shoot on me either
and civilans wouldnt be bad too

@NshadowAssasin well if there wouldnt be any enemy on road, u could do missions more easily, if there would be just certain places where enemy is (like corners of map or smting), but not on road/wilderness, map prbably would be kinda desert? No enemy, No challenge

@NshadowAssasin I agree with most of that, except for the amount of bus stations. There would have been less need for the bus stations, if driving on your own wasn't so damn annoying.
They should have turned down the spawning (Like Fallout 3's 3 day respawn), and made fewer "hostile" guard posts.
Also, making the guard posts ask for a "toll" would have been awesome. I can imagine the guy saying "Give me diamonds" and I'm like "I'll give you bullet"
