  • WTF is this shit?

  • I will live by that lol Didnot get this land by right . And that is why it is falling. My God is greater from the begining .

  • The Diggers didn't represent the peoples will, any more than Cromwell did. They were a tiny group of Communist radicals.

  • the real history of England!

  • Wow gay. Fuck youtube and what has become of it.

  • F@CK YOUTUBE! SOON COMMENTS WILL BE DISABLED FOR THIS PAGE. F@CK YOUTUBE AND ITS NEW FORMATTING AND ITS F@CKING COPYRIGHT. PIECE OF SHlT.

  • NINTEEN EIGHTY FUCKING FOUR.

    CUNTS.

  • Yeah. The book written by the socialist George Orwell makes some good points. As it was written by the SOCIALIST George Orwell.

  • Elevator music.

Thanks for fuck all; what a waste of time.

  • Blame YouTube and the big record companies. Everytime I try to re-post the video YouTube blocks me:(

  • So where's the muzak version coming from?

  • and billy is where????? guess maybe the music police got the track. what a shame!!! love billt's version of this song. vive la revolution!!!

  • @worcesterjonny

Then put Dick Gaughan's version of the song up instead! It's far better anyway!

  • @DonegalRaymie201 I haven't got Dick Gaughan's version - sorry!

  • @worcesterjonny

PM me an email address then, and I'll send you it as an MP3. You can't leave these great lyrics with that "musak" soundtrack!

  • @DonegalRaymie201 Cheers mate, i'll get back to you.

  • where's the real one where they played at the victory of yorktown in 1780?

  • what is this shoppin centre shit thats been over dubbed to the real track....thats pure pants

  • Leon Rosselson did the original, but Braggs version is best.

  • So you've never recorded a song off the radio then and then given it to a friend?

  • Al this moanin' about copyright - the original poster hadn't 'paid his dues' by paying for the Bragg version otherwise he'd have known it wasn't a Bragg song. And what's wrong with making a living out of writing songs - you wouldn't decorate my house for free would you?

  • wouldnt decorate fannys like your house anyway unless i was pishin all over it.Who the fuk are ye?Fukkin simon cowells bum boy or summit?writing songs is all good but if ya cant get yer arse inta gear n play liv gigs then yer not worth a fuk.sorry whether ya like it or not its an end of an era for spongers like that, whether they like it or not.Whether the record companies like it or not or try n stop it.not goin ta happen.Either clue up or get off!.....Simple as

  • Someone else who thinks the world is a radically different place simply because he is occupying space in it! As for pissing' on my house - you still don't hit the bowl everytime do you? And by the way....trying to look stupid by mispelling lots of words actually works!!

  • LMFAO bro

  • Great tune!!

It was written by Leon Rosselson, not Billy.

  • So I guess the music isn't a "common treasury for all" but a "private treasury for Billy Bragg"

  • It's actually by Leon Rosselson: Bragg's is a cover.

  • What Nation do you suppose currently has the largest active thriving Commons (NOT State-owned 'public property) along with a n active thriving market economy?

  • Which one?

  • Sorry, it wasn't a quiz question. I actually don't know and would like to.

  • thou mincer of simplicity!

thou for art logically foul. cockin abart wi decent muses???

    shame on theeeee

  • The joy of copyright!

  • Given the lyrical content of the original song i.e 'a common treasury for all' it is an irony (and not a pleasant one) that the music has been removed

  • A weak irony at that. There is quite a difference between what's written about in the song and ownership of a song and the right for it not to be pirated. Let's not be so naive

  • Listening is not pirating. These idiots in the recording industry haven't figured that out yet, which is why their business is down in the toilet.

  • what is this shit that has replaced Bragg's song?

  • BRING BACK BILLY!!!

this didn't infringe copyright anymore than any of the other Billy Bragg vids on utube

  • Why has the Billy Bragg song been taken off?

  • Copyright issues - I just wish Billy knew!

  • Dirty Old Towm was written by a bloke called Ewan McColl and was written 1949

  • this song is a warning to all protesters but especially ones who don't believe in a god that the majority believe in. you will be made to believe or die, history is made by the winners

  • I've been blasting this song and other Bragg favorites as loud as I can at work (which is in a very conservative mall in Tennessee) afte Obama's victory last night. Obama!

  • obama sadly looks (as i thought all along) like he's going to be another clinton who ignores the working class. let's organise over the progressive issues he was elected on - healthcare, antiwar, etc - to ensure he has to carry then through.

  • Obama is a capitalist and a "man of property." We know know which side he is on, and it's not the Diggers'.

  • Obama has no experience..why do you put faith in him?

  • They could have used some swords, as it turned out.

  • These Diggers were heroes, long live their memory, thanks for posting this up Worcesterjonny, billy is the man!!!!

  • noice

  • always like this song....from years ago.

  • Billy Bragg didn't write this. Leon Rosselson is the songwriter

  • Actually, neither of them did, it's a traditional folk song. Kind of like how people say the Pogues wrote Dirty Old Town or Thin Lizzy wrote Whiskey in the Jar, they've been around for ages.

  • Leon Rosselson google the song and the writer, personally, I knew this song as the song of the diggers, it was on a cd by the black family (an irish group) and Leon Rosselson us credited as the songwriter

  • Billy's always good but the Leon Rosselson is terrific!

    Winstanley was a great man!

  • "The old world is running up like parchment in the fire."

    --Gerard Winstanley

  • this is great

    thanks for posting

  • NiCe.

    thanks...

  • go parliment go parliment

  • nice one chore good tune like!

  • Billy's a working class hero

  • i love this song for some reason :) xox

  • No man has any right to buy and sell the earth for private gain = words to live by.

  • "The sin of property we do disdain." Nice one.

  • Good Job. I was looking for a better version of this for my blog.

  • Me too. Thanks for posting this. I would have liked a decent Leon Rosselson original, but the sound isn't great on the only one I could find.
