Claiming to be god is not blasphemous by Jesus because he is god. But it is blasphemous to claim by me or you... That makes no logical sense. Its a cyclical argument. Study some Logic in University. What he says is like saying: " 'A' said he was god"

"saying that you are god is blasphemy"

"so he is not blasphemous" (because he is god - cyclical & unsubstantiated)

" 'B' said he was god"

"saying that you are god is blasphemy"

Uh.. No. It does make logical sense, but you're taking it out of context by deliberately avoiding the missing premises which are tacitly understood by the congregation: that 1) Jesus is God, and 2) You are not.

Your argument is akin to saying the famous example: "All men are mortal, therefore, Socrates is mortal" is illogical until we prove via a separate argument that Socrates is a man (an implied premise, known a priori) creating an infinitely regressing burden of proof.

You ought to have a substantial knowledge of Greek and Greek culture, the language of which the New Testament was written in, and the earliest extant surviving copy of the Old Testament found to have survived. @bobbitcat, The Romans are descendants of Japheth, and the Babylonians are descendants of Shem, so they aren't related to each other. Therefore, the Romans are not of Babylonian descent. But I will agree with you on where the Antichrist will come from. :)

Third definition of "blasphemer" is not consistent with the structure of the sentence he is reading. Paul was a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. This makes "blasphemer" DISTINCT from "persecutor," not EQUAL to persecutor. Paul's former blaspheme was claiming that Jesus was NOT the Christ. One would expect Antichrist to do exactly this. So was there ever a pope that denied that Jesus was the Christ? I don't know of one, but don't know much about it, either.

Why am I not surprised that someone would misunderstand what Pastor Asscherick is saying. He is not talking about any one person. The Bible calls a kingdom a beast not a person. The antichrist power is not any one person. It is a system of religion. How long has the church of Rome had a man at it's head? Has each man enforced the same teachings of the church? Have they all been called God on earth by the church? Think about what you are saying.

I had the same reaction to that person's statement , but then I had an idea and responded to it to give more information, because many people have the idea that the antichrist is some mystery man to suddenly appear on the scene at the time of the end, when the Bible is clear about the antichrist power's identity, what it has done in the past, and will in the future.
