  • Oh hey! Have you thought about - fast abs magic (do a search on google)? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate got beautiful 6 pack abs and lost lots of fat with it.

  • It`s all about being lean.. Think about how many skinny underweight men that don`t even exercise and yet some of them have a perfect six pack

  • You make so much sense. But I always come back to this question...how low do u have to go..in weight loss to get abs to show. I know of a person 210 has great flat abs I weigh 210 both 5'9 my abs don't show...I'm doing cardio calorie deficit...so I feel I have to be 160 to see my abs ... I don't get it so lost here

  • steve do you have to suck in your gut when doing crunches, also does breathing when doing crunches matter since its anerobic exercise and it burns sugar?

  • @al14di try to flex your abs the entire time that youre doing crunches, going up and down; and breathing rate doesnt matter as long as you just breath naturally and dont try to hold it in or breathe really fast, hope this helps

  • the one thing that makes me mad at the gym is when people say doing abs makes u lose belly fat. no matter how i explain it to them they dont listin, they dont do cardio and all they do is abs, then complain cuz there not losing any belly fat, and yet they still dont listing when i tell them u need to do cardio to lose the fat and see ur abs. they pay 55 dollers a month and they look the same as they started. come in for 30 mins do abs and leave, i cant help but laugh, just saying.

  • @IPWNBXRmash Scooby1961 said he's had the exact same experience in one of his vids.

  • Comment removed

  • Absolutely true. Couldn't explain it any better. Good shit.

  • @FamedRolemodel Thanks! 250 more videos to watch!

  • @BodyPerformanceTV Hey Steve, one of my friends is 5'8 150 lbs with 19% body fat. He wants to get a six pack but has a little gut. He doesn't do cardio just lifts heavy three times a week and eats 2000 calories per day. Will doing intense cardio 3 to 4 times per week be enough to help him achieve his goal or does he have to reduce his calories to 1500? Also, for building muscle with a deficit how would you figure out if the calories you are eating are enough to fuel the body to build muscle?

  • @elite2291 scoobysworkshopcom has a calculator based on your goals, weight, height, workout level, etc. check it out

  • I love it.. High- performance

  • I've been watching Steve's videos for about 1 1/2 years and during this time I agreed with some and questioned others.... Because I've increased my knowledge over that time I pretty much agree on everything he says now... He gives everyone honest informative information... I thank you Steve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've lost 50 pounds during this time and now it's a concentration on weight resistance.... Jack Lalanne was so far ahead of his time giving similar information..........

  • Hey Steve, I'm 5'9 170lbs and I'm trying to lower my body fat percentage to get more cut. This is the weight that I would like to be at. I lift heavy weights and do cardio, but I still can't seem to lower that body fat. I recently stopped doing cardio and noticed more gains in strength and seem to be a little more cut. I stopped doing cardio because I weighed in at 157lb but I was still not cut. I want to keep my weight but look shredded. Any advice would be great! Thanks!

  • I have been super skinny my whole life and recently started putting on some weight. I have gained about 20 pounds and have accompanied this with a lot of crunches and abb workouts. Despite all this I still dont really have any abbs. I have a very low body fat percentage. Are there any ways to help out skinny people to get abbs?

  • Steve, how can a person whether or not fat is hiding their abs, as opposed to bad posture of the abdomen itself....or just loose skin?

And, is it normal for the abdomen to expand after eating, then flatten about 3 - 4 hours after?

  • Absolutely correct. Everyone uses their abs every single day doing most activities. You use your abs just to maintain posture while standing or walking! Everyone has a six pack just waiting to be revealed. Just lose the fat through responsible eating and exercising and voila, they will appear. You don't even need to be fit to have a six pack ... although I always recommend getting fit too.

  • well said

  • Hi steve when i diet i lose muscle aswell how do i prevent this i have tried shakes but still lose muscle mass

  • @REDTVR there are a few things you can be doing wrong. You might be overtraining. it could be that you don't lift hard enough to make your body keep muscle, it could also be that you're eating too little calories, but I'm not sure about that one. have a look at your carb intake and try increasing that to protect your muscles more

  • @REDTVR lift weights

  • I also do heavy weighted low volume abs. Hmmm, not sure about the 16% will look like 9%, BUT, I do believe that abs are a muscle like any other and should be trained that way for best results. HOWEVER, abs get hit from many lifts like the clean, deadlift and squat. SO, some athletes choose then to switch up the approach when doing isolated ab work. Great athletes have lean but FULL waists, not small and lean but weak looking waists.Abs are not all about definition, they're about shape strength.

  • Oh, your body is so beautiful. I love those bicep muscles stretching the cloth of your shirt. Yum!

  • LOL! TY!!!

  • @BodyPerformanceTV lol he's gay bro xD

  • @justiceleague3000 yea nice roider biceps alright. thsi guys trying to say stability and bosus dont work;. he couldnt be more misinformed. mother f***

  • Steve your the man!!!... they better tell you lol

  • TY!

  • OMG thankyou dude it's so simple yet I could never find it on the internet. I recently signed up to a gym and have been going there every day for the past week and have seen improvements in my arms thigh's and my chest but nothing on my abs, I usually warm up with 10 mins on the treadmill but now will be doing a lot more cardio and dieting. thanks.

  • unless they are lean naturally withou tdiet.. then they will say " ab traning" right. so there is one of the problems you get.

  • Wow, I feel pretty stupid. I always figured that if you wanted to get a six-pack, you'd have to exercise your abs. So I did, but it wasn't really working. So I got desperate and picked up the intensity on the exercises. (I'm stubborn)

    I've gotten to the point where I do 300 sit-ups and other ab-exercises 4 times a week, however I still don't have a six-pack. I've been at it for nearly a year.

If someone now punches me in my stomach they'll break their arm, but like I said, no six pack.

  • great point

  • also what about alcohol? everyone likes a drink at the weekend but it comes with a price, a horrible flab pack. do you know of a low fat alcoholic drink? your probably gonna say dont drink at all but im 21 and all my friends are students, so was just wondering if there is a low fat drink. thanks.

  • Alcohol has 7 calories per gram. So you can ddrink but in moderation.

  • ok this may seem weird but yes i agree with you completely but i am also trying to gain muscle, i am eating healthy but i am eating lots and lots.if i do a lot of cardio am i going to loose muscle aswell as fat? my stomach doesnt look toned at all but the rest of my body does, im worried of going to get skinny if i do too much cardio.

  • Stop eating so much. The extra calories will not build extra muscles. Muscle are made in the gym. Let your appetite increase naturally.

  • " secret movement " LMAO

  • here's a question, usually, how is the process? i mean, how many weeks or months does it take?

  • Stronger and firmer. Abs don't and won't stick out like biceps or chest!

  • Here's a question I would like answered:

If I have already gotten rid of my layer of fat, will ab exercises cause muscular hypertrophy?

Or will it just make them "stronger and firmer"?

  • Typically cardio and or dieting is needed.

  • do you think if a person is overweight, they can get abs with just weights alone?

  • YW! My pleasure. I like simple barbell wrist curls and reverse curls.

  • Hey thanks that's some great info. i always thought the ab workouts were helping me too loose belly fat as well! quick question though whats the best way to work out your fore arms ?

  • So, once body fat is reduced and the abs are visible, what is the best exercise to make the abs beefier?

  • You're welcome. VERY few really know the truth!

  • i appreciate your straight forward info.

  • i want to do jogging after weigthtraining to burn the fat but will my muscles still get bigger at the same pace?

  • Thank you!

  • Inspiring!!! i Love all ur videos!!!

  • lol

If some one does crunches for hours he will probably be burning loads of fat....

  • or make ur abs big and make ur fat on top of thatstick out on ur belly.

  • haha only problem is your abs will be one fire after 100 crunches

  • One - crunches. And then lots of cardio. Check out my website.

  • how fast do your abdominals repair after your ab workouts? is it okay for me to work them everyday ?

  • i've done monday, wednesday, friday with intense abs workouts and saturday i just did a few light ones for a while now, it was surprising how fast they went from nothing to a rock hard 8 pack, the only reason i didn't do it everyday is because on the rest days they would be so sore i couldn't do a cruch, but the next day felt fine, you really just have to experiment and see what works for you

  • good job! congrats man

  • hi steve,

how can i strip the fat from my lower stomach?...also, how many abdominal exercise's should i do a week?

get back to me please. thanks!

  • Steve is Correct. A Guy in my Gym has never in his life trained his abs and yet they are ripped to shredds. All due to his 5% body fat. So Not fair, But Im doin my Cardio, my diets good. and My abs will come!!!

Cheers Steve Love the Vids mate!

  • Well how do I get the diet and cardio??

  • Steve, Im 6 foot 165 pounds. About 10.5% BF. Pretty lean and have flat stomach with some abs visible. Lifitng 3x wk, running 30 min everyday, and eating a clean diet. I'm looking to get a beyond ripped core. Any recommendations? Also I don't want to lose any weight, just as much fat as I can. Is that possible? Thanks man. Dan

  • Yes. You can have bad foods just not too much and not too often.

  • Ok i have a question relating to my own gluttony lol

    Im 76 kilos

Is it ok for me to eat the odd bit of chocolate or the like as long as i continue working out?

  • this guy is great :) diet and cardio does the trick

  • thanx alot steve ! apprecaite it ! :)

  • steve plz answer my question !! im desperate to know the answer !!

  • hi steve ! i have great respect for u ! my question: ive been doing alot of cardio and been dieting fairly well, id loose track of my diet but id bounce back. I joined a gym 2 days ago, the physical indicated my fat% at 8 saying that that was below average, the trainer said i need to gain muscle and fat. BUT the whole idea behind me starting intense cardio, dieting and joining the gym was to get rid of the excess fat on my lower stomach and a little bit off of my thighs ! Help plzz steve.

  • 8% is very low for a guy. If you have fat on your lower stomach I doubt it you're at 8% body fat. So what we want to do it gain muscle & lose fat at the same time. Depending on your height & current weight you might be able to do this without dieting. Just by lifting & doing cardio you can create enough of a calorie deficit to lose fat while building muscle. This mean lifting 3 times a week and doing cardio 3 times a week.

  • Is it possible to build muscle AND lose fat? I thought you have to take in more calories than you use in a day to build muscle, but then you gain excess fat as well. If you do the opposite then you lose fat but how can muscle growth be achieved? Is it possible to use the energy of your excess body fat to gain muscle?

  • wat is cardio

  • HAHAHAHA, 'you can do sit ups now, untill the end of time, it still dont bring out your sixpack'. you bring it to funny, hilarious!

  • That's a myth. Muscle burns more fat when you are in-shape and when you are active. You need to use that muscle before it burns lots of calories.

  • do crunches add additional weight/muscle mass?

  • doesn't a higher amount of muscle help decrease body fat too though? due to the fact that the muscles are burning calories just by existing.

  • My abs are amazing. You just can't see them. I can do nearly 300 leg raises in a row but because I have a very small layer of fat on my stomach still, they aren't visible. Heh, it's tricky to really get into cardio, but I'm going to give it a shot.

As usual, great video. Keep it up. ^_^

  • i can't believe this because i can see my abs after i do ab exercises like there bulgeing out? whats that?

  • You can't make your abs "stick out." The abs are one sheet of muscle so it's very hard to isolate the lower ones only. I just do crunches and bent knee hanging leg raises.

  • I've heard this plenty of times, no one ever goes further than that. Once your abs do show, whats the best for getting them to stand out the most? What are good lower ab exercises ?

  • hey steve are there some forms of cardio that directly trigger your abdominals?

    plz list them

  • Steve, I have a belly but if I suck in you can see my ribs sticking out very far..Am I ready to do sit ups

  • You can do crunches anytime you're ready. Start off slow with a few and then build up.

  • Unfortunately no there isn't. But the more fat you lose the better you'll be able to see your abs.

  • Compound exercises such as Squats, Bench Press (push ups), deadlifts, pull ups, burn a lot more fat than cardio. I combine my cardio and weight workouts into a circuit.I believe that Circuit training is more effective because youre stimulating your metabolism by breaking down muscle while also doing cardio simultaneously.I recommend Superset training for people who want to build mass and burn fat because circuit training doesnt put as much stress on your muscles especially bodyweight training.

  • this guy is 100 percent true on how to get abs

  • HAHA..Slimacizer!! LMAO!!

  • My fitness teachers tell me that although cardio will improve your condition, they largely burn up your carbonhydric reserves and not touch upon your fat. They said that long-distance (1.5 to 2.0 hrs) of fast walking at a pace of 5 to 6.5 kms/h will make you burn more fat. Is this your advice too?

  • Yeah, what you just said IS cardio lol.

  • how do you lose those pesky "love handles" i have lost alot of weight but seem never to lose my handles.

  • Is jumping rope a good way to lose fat around the abs. I have strong abs and need to lose some fat I heard rope jumping was good can anyone confirm. Any good diet tips.

  • before u get freakin abs u need to lose the fat u carryin in ur belly!

  • i understand what you said.

i go running 2 or three times a week for 45minutes aprox.

but i still dont have the definition that i want in my abs!!!

please tell me what kind of excersises i need, if you want check my video!!! and you`ll se my results at this point.

sorry, i`m a disaster with english.

thanks for everything, you`re a big inspiration for many!

    greetings from uruguay.

  • i know that if you keep your hart beat at 180 beats four half an hour for a day and burn just over 500 cals and take out 500cals out of your diet every day you will get a a 15percent body fat man dropping to body fat of for in one month just as long as they take out a 1000 cals a day its easy you just have to keep your self in check and also eat gd foods a diet u should reals go for simple carbs in stead of complexs carbs witch normal have starch in side them starch is sugar bye the way.

  • Yeah, he's right, i was doin a whole bunch of ab work and did cardio and all dat, and I came out still havin' a bit of fat over my abs, but u can see the lines of them forming i have to change up da cardio tho...

  • WHAT THE HEK DOES CARDIO MEAN?

  • cardiovascular... (running, skipping, cycling etc... stuff that gets your heart rate going.)

  • i do that, hey how much calories am i supposed to consume a day, i weigh 115, 5'8 and 15 years old, and tips for six pack?

  • If you weigh 115 and don't already have a six pack, you should try training your whole body first. 115 is really small, I know becaus up until I was 21 I had the exact same stats you do.

  • Squat and deadlifts are honestly the best things for you to do to get a 6 pack. You change off doing these every few months and throw in a support-move cycle, which will include crunches and such like that. But for the most part, squats and deadlifts what you need.

  • great abs come from "unfortunately" diet and cardio - i say its fortunate that this is the case because it causes people to get up off their ass and do something!

  • What if you do sit up/crunches/"core" exercises in a HIIT format? Studies have shown that HIIT burns more total fat than steady state cardio. Remember it's about total calories burned, rather than percentage of fat burned. And yeah, I'm just playing devil's advocate. I completely understand what you mean. ;)

  • I cant see anything working better than a 6 mph or higher run - it utilizes your legs wich is a giant part of your body - I have done no research on what is better - but I run alot and it seems to be doing alot better than anything else.

  • Yeah, I understand what you're saying. My point was that it's less about the actual exercise being performed and more about how it's performed. Intervals, circuits, tabatas, and complexes are all phenomenal for fat loss because they burn a boat load of calories. Crunches, or any abdominal exercise can be included in any of those methods effectively.

  • HIIT burns more calories than steady state cardio when the two are compared for 20 minutes or less. More than 20 minutes, and traditional cardio will burn more fat than HIIT.

As a doctor of exercise science, I'm not a big fan of HIIT. It does have its applications, but losing fat is not one of them.

  • Thank you for helping us God bless.

  • true to person below me. i agree with cardio and dieting yes, but the skinny, low body fat people i know do not have six packs. or maybe they just don't have any muscle

  • Hey man, I love your vids but I gotta disaggree with you on this one. I've been doing lots of crunch-type excersizes lately and my abs are showing a lot of improvement... i think it's more of a combination of weights (or atleast normal crunches)and cardio. Unless you want puny abs because as we all know and wut i understand you explained was that skinny people have abs. that's why you see 6 year olds skinny as toothpics with 6 packs

  • So is there ANY point in me doing my 100 crunches and half sits a night then? None whatsoever?

  • Doing abs will absolutely strengthen your stomach and make it look better once the fat has been lost.

  • Lmao You CRACK me up the EASE you have when explaining things, YET your BANG ON!!! Lolz 2 Good Dude!! Thanx Steve

  • Thank you!

  • I can't run because it hurts my ankles. Is walking beneficial or should I just use the bike and stairmaster at the gym?

  • All three are good. You can increase their effectiveness by doing them longer and with more intensity.

  • Thanks so much!

  • My pleasure.

  • Great love your videos! Is 30 mins of Cardio (running) 4 or 5 times a week burning 400-500 calories better than doing hours of cardio. I've already had some success with 30 mins cardio and i've only been doing this program for 5 weeks!

  • Thank you. Yes, especially if you mix in some intense cardio like walking , jogging and sprinting.

  • that was very informative. Thank you.

  • Steve, thank you so much for these vids im learning heaps.

  • You're welcome.

  • Thanks again Steve I've upped my cardio hardcore.

  • is running cardio

  • Yes.

  • yep it sure is

  • I've got a 6-pack but it's in a cool bag ;)

  • Funny!

  • That's right. I tell people to try about 5-6 70 yard sprints and then tell me tomorrow if their stomach and obliques aren't sore.

  • Absolutely right man. MY friends ask how to get abs, someone says crunches yada yada I tell them I got it running for lacrosse and everyone looks at me oddly. Running was seriously the best thing I ever did for my abs. Weighted crunches helped a bit too but not thousands of them... low reps high weight the same way you grow any other muscle in your body

  • Thanks again Steve. I have found your videos extremely helpful and motivating. Also, thanks to your video on cheating on your diet, I don't feel guilty any more when I eat some food I shouldn't have. I now look at it as a way to let my body know I'm not starving it and as a motivation to run that extra mile!

  • I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!! !!! !!!

  • Slimisizer! hahahaha I love it Steve your video's are awesome =)

  • Hey your mini shows have been extremely informative and very helpful. I have learned a lot from them. I was trying to lose weight by doing crunches every night, now I will just walk/jog/run 20 minutes a day. Thanks again!
