her argument about the a "game on real life conflict" doesn't fly. How is it any different than playing a WW2 game inspite of it being based on events from over 50 years ago? Yes the events are "current" but people have "died" in WW2. Why is it ok for other forms of media is able to demonstrate "current conflicts" Movies, TV Series, comic book even discussed current events. But gaming cannot? Please spare me "our kids are playing this"

@Akumatrunigga That is a very great point and my response is that watching a movie, TV, or reading a comic book are all PASSIVE forms of entertainment. Video games put you into the action, allowing you to consciously choose to kill. The conflict in Mexico/Drug cartels is very serious business. There are too many unique ideas out there to justify making a GAME out of a very dangerous REAL situation. WW1/WW2 are in the distant past, and this conflict will be too, then it would be appropriate.

@blssm01 I just have to disagree. It is same tired response of the "time sensitivity" of releasing a game. If their is a game where you're battling North Koreans from taking over is ok but the "recent" drug cartel in Mexico isnt, I find the hypocrisy of this discussion of "violence in games". Mexico had problems of this drug game for decades. So in a way it is "of the past"

Good show! I particularly agree with your comments on split screen gaming. It's a huge problem for my wife and I. One of the big reasons we originally got together was our love of video games. She's a huge gamer and I loved games so much I made it my career (been working for the Official Nintendo Magazine for 12 years). We love playing games in co-op together, but there are so few we can play because slit screen features are so rare.

BTW: Portal 2 co-op across PS3/PC = WIN!
