  • The SpiroGraph waveforms are cool. Moon Pies are delicious and addicting. Way ta go, Muddy

  • @DancingSpiderman AND CARVING BLADES IS ADDICTIVE LIKE AN OBSCESSION, AND BUILDING WIND TURBINES ALTERNATORS IS SHEER BLISS. BUT WATCHING THE FIRST UNIT SPIN UP TO SPEED FOR THE FIRST TIME AS THE LIFT TAKES OVER, AND THE BLADES SUDDENLY START HOOKIN BUNS, IS JUST OUT OF THIS WORLD. WWWEEEEE! THANKS.

MOON PIES, MOON PIES, moon pies,.... and rc cola.

  • @muddymuddymuddmann Hands-on guys make it happen. Thumbs Up Muddy. And RC Cola. The KING of Colas.

  • @DancingSpiderman LOL. THANKS,

    AGREED.

  • I find it much easier when you type without hitting the caps lock button. Where's the fire??

  • @ZebbMassiv THE FIRE'S IN THE WIRE AS THE WIND TURBINES SPIN. thanks. Keep smiling.

  • I consider myself pretty intelligent, but this stuff makes me feel retarded lol

  • @Animeabe AWE THAT'S JUST A NEW SUBJECT THAT SOUNDS HARD. NEW SUBJECTS ALWAYS DO. PLAY AROUND WITH ONE AND YOU WILL SEE, IT'S NOT HARD AT ALL. THE HARD PART IS JUST STARTING THE PROJECT. GIVE IT THE OL' DAMN THE TORPEDOES ATTITUDE AND YOU WILL DO FINE. IT'S EASIER THAN IT LOOKS. AND ABOVE ALL ... HAVE A BALL. ANYTHING YOU ENJOY , YOU WILL ACCEL AT.

  • hi muddy,i am working on this type of windmill.. i don't know how to fix magnets.. and also i dont know whether the magnets are all at one side(i mean fixing magnets in the same way ,north at on side and south at the other side).. and can you plz send me,how to wind coils.. in which manner, simply i need the discription of this model... will you please help me.i shall be very thankful to you sir.. I am student of O'level, ned hlp sir

  • @TheThunder41 I WOULD LOVE TO HELP. THE ANSWERS ARE TO LONG TO FIT IN 50 CHARACTURES OR LESS. SO I WILL SEND YOU A PERSONAL MESSAGE.THEN YOU CAN ASK QUESTIONS THERE SO I CAN HAVE MORE ROOM FOR THE ANSWERS.

    ANYTIME.

  • Great videos man! I'm building a generator out of a hacked box fan in my apartment window and needed some review of AC to DC conversions. Your electrical explanations are spot on! Thanks again!

  • @yotokan THANKS, I NEED TO PULL ONE APART ON VIDEO AND GO THROUGH IT. I GET A LOT OF PEOPLE WANTING TO DO THE SAME THING.

  • Tonfazg wrote:You cant get light bulb to light because you cant get enough power with both windings...voltage that you measure isnt right...voltmeter shows you voltage RMS value of SINE wave...and you dont have sine wave ...it is more like this

    deviantpicsDOTcom/?v=scope.png

I am still not understanding as I am not sure if I have to rectify the AC fron the turbine first before it can light a led or bulb. Please help

  • @fused210

I just saw the video with sound...it is not a good idea to put those two sets of coils in parallel...wire is designed to withstand current of 1A and not to mention the difference in voltage between two sources...there would be currents between those two sources that dont go anywhere else but just trying to get the voltage in a point of connection to same voltage....not a good idea at all.

  • @fused210

If you want to use both windings then you should rectifie both voltages before you connect them anyway, in parallele or in series, diodes wont let any current to flow in a direction from one source in parallele to another, so there wont be a correction current in terms of equaling the connection point voltage.

I simulate it but i dont see ANY reason to doit that way...your sources wuld conduct currents like flip flop...part of period one and part of period second...it is not good.

  • @fused210 AN INCANDECENT LIGHT BULB WILL WORK ON AC OR DC. THE CFLs WORK ON AC ONLY. THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO LIGHT IT UP. I LIT UP 12 STRANDS OF LED CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AND PLUGGED MY LAPTOP IN THE END OF THE STRINGS. POWER IS 100 WATTS. THE VOLTAGE IS THERE. RECTIFY THE COILS SETS AND PUT THE OUTPUTS IN SERIES OR PARALLEL ACCORDING TO WHAT YOUR NEEDS ARE. ALSO FOR HIGHER AC, CONNECT THE COILS IN SERIES AND USE THE OTHER WIRES FOR POWER. THIS MAKES HIGHER VOLTAGE AC.

    MUDDy

  • @fused210 IVE SEEN OVER 140 VOLTS ON MINE AND NEVER HAD ONE BLOW. THEY ARE PRETTY TOUGH UNITS. RMS OR PEP DOESNT MATTER , THE WIND IS WILD. WHEN ENOUGH VOLTAGE IS PRESENT THE CURRENT DRAWN FROM THE COILS WILL SLOW TH MAGNETS DOWN ENOUGH TO HELP REGULATE. BUT WHEN CONNECTED TO THE BATTERIES, THE VOLTAGE IS REGULATED BY THE BATTERIES. AND THE LOAD ON THE COILS WILLMAKE THE UNIT SPIN A LOT SLOWER. THE WIND PRESSURE ON THE BLADES IS THE WATTAGE.

    MUDDy

  • From the picture i think that you got it wrong (watching video without sound :), output frequencies of both windings are different, freq. of the lower winding is twice the freq. of the upper winding.

If you like you can put it in "reverse", if you want the same speed of the rotor you should put double the freq. @ stator windings to get it with upper windings

You can get much better power output if you rectifie both voltages seperatly before conect them in series.

  • @tonfazg

lol i just realized that i am not clear with stator-rotor in my previous post :) windings are @ "rotor" but you will hold rotor static so the "stator" will rotate...

  • @tonfazg THE STATOR IS THE STATIONARY WINDINGS THEY DONT SPIN, BUT THE MAGNET ROTOR SPINS

  • @tonfazg BOTH SETS OF COILS HAVE THE SAME FREQUENCY. JUST 90 DEGREES OFF FROM EACH OTHER. WHEN THE MAGNETS SPIN, THEY PASS THE SAME AMOUNT OF COILS ON THE OUTER SET AS THEY DO ON THE INNER SET PER REVOLUTION. AND YOU ARE RIGHT ON RECTIFYING BOTH SETS FIRST.

    MUDDy

  • Not sure I got it all yet ! "Concerning the voltages" LOL, Never was my strong point, But the video is Magic, well done, very helpful stuff, thanks.

    Thom in Scotland.

  • @fuelban some say I use too much detail and others say more vids with all the detail. So I the vids are long and probably boring to most. But the info is definitly there. Ofcourse don't operate heavy machinery after watching more than 2 or more of my videos in a row. I am trying to speed them up and compress the info as well in the newer Vids.

Think of electricity as water. Pressure is voltage, current is gallons per minute, resistance is the size hole or pipe resisting wide open current. :)

  • @muddymuddymuddmann ....... LOL..... Well I like the videos just fine, and you can never have too much information guy, just got to watch once or twice that's all, and I don't mind that, LOL, at least you don't go too technical as to loose the viewers, I think your videos are fine, and I know the difficulty's of putting info over to a viewer, heck, i got an accent to over come too.... LOL... look forward to more vids guy. thanks.

  • We love Scott Brown, Can you sugest how to make a battery charger PULSER.

  • @babblake1 THAT SOUNDS LIKE A NICE PROJECT. THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTION. PULSED CHARGING HELPS DEEP CYCLE BATTERIES CHARGE BETTER AND EXTEND THEIR LIFE. I WILL LOOK FOR AN EASY SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM FOR BUILDING ONE ON VIDEO.

  • @muddymuddymuddmann. Does this wind turbine produce ac or dc current. Because I was thinking of building one to run some power tools

  • @BriggsEngine1 AC AND/OR DC IF YOU WISH. I WILL SHOW THIS IN THE NEXT CLASS VIDEO. THE WEATHER KEEPS ME INSIDE A LOT THIS MONTH. IT LOOKS LIKE THAT WILL CHANGE PRETTY QUICK.

    MUDDy

  • @muddymuddymuddmann ok thanks

  • @BriggsEngine1 THANKS

    MUDDy

  • @BriggsEngine1 If you run it into a power inverter, you'll be able to run any electric device on it. A lot of people connect solar panels and wind turbines to deep cell batteries and let it continue charging them.

  • We will agree to disagree. I love your stuff I have built one with further refinements and I cant wait to share my findings with you!

  • @jbandit79 ANY TIME MODIFICATIONS ARE DONE, IT BRINGS UP A LOT OF GOOD IDEAS AND HOPEFULLY BETTER RESULTS. FATTER WIRE AND REWIRING CAN BE IMPROVED ON A LOT. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND SHARE IT WITH US. THANKS FOR THE INTEREST.

    MUDDy

  • So between the going low of the second phase and the going high of the first phase will be a longer period than between going high of one to high of phas two so you would have a DC form something like this -- -- -- -- -- ; the reason for this is because of the phase relationship between what you call one and two. So in essence we are really creating a pulse DC. Have a nice day thanks for sharing your knowledge

  • @jbandit79 NOT REALLY ON THE PULSE PART. THE PHASES ARE ONLY 90 DEGREES APART. THE PHASES OVERLAP EACH OTHER. AND THE NEGATIVE PORTION GET TURNED INTO POSITIVE. SO IT WILL LOOK LIKE DC WITH A SMALL RIPPLE ON THE RECTIFIED WAVE. THE SIGN WAVE BEFORE THE POWER GETS RECTIFIED IS NOT CLEAN AND SMOOTH , BUT IT IS NOT TOO BAD EITHER.

I TALK ON MY CB RADIO WITH THE TURBINE CONNECTED TO THE BATTERY, AND I DONT HEAR THE RIPPLE IN THE AUDIO. AND THEY DONT HEAR IT EITHER.

    MUDDy

  • very informative............very well explained........this truely works ; However i am afraid you have mis explained the wave shapes of the rectified voltage. on your primary and secondary waves would ahve a break where the period would be ideally nil on the negative half of each phases cylce...then adding these two and filtering through a capacitor or inductor, one can achieve a smoother DC output. Just thought I would Help.

  • @jbandit79 THE NEGATIVE SIDE OF THE WAVE IS RECTIFIED FULL WAVE. IT'S NOT LIKE SINGLE PHASE. THE RECTIFIED WAVE NEVER GETS LOWER THAN 87% VOLTAGE. AND ON THE BATTERIES IT IS LESS BECAUSE THE BATTERIES ARE THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR.

    MUDDy

    THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS.

  • @jbandit79 TNX BANDIT!

I THINK THE BEST PART OF THESE UNITS IS THAT THEY ARE LOW AMPS AND HIGH OPEN VOLTAGE. THAT MAKES THEM MORE VERSATILE FOR TRICKLE CHARGING A VARIETY OF VOLTAGES. 12 DOESNT CHARGE AS WELL AS 24 VOLTS BATTERY BANKS, AND I HAVE CHARGED 52 VOLTS AND 2 AMPS. 100 WATTS IS LOW BUT STEADY. THE NEXT WIND TURBINE WILL BE ENOUGH TO CHARGE BATTERIES FOR THE HOUSE HOLD. DUAL MAGNET ROTOR AXIAL FLUX PMA. I SHOULD SEE 750 WATTS PLUS IN 20 TO 25 MPH WINDS. 10 FOOT BLADES AND A FREE TOWER

  • @jbandit79 SMOOTHER DC OUTPUT ISNT WHAT BATTERIES LIKE TO CHARGE WITH THOUGH. PULSED DC IS BEST FOR CHARGING BATTERIES.

  • @digitalfuk YA ESPECIALLY DEEP CYCLE BATTERIES. PULSED DC EXTENDS THE LIFE OF A BATTERY AS WELL.

    MUDDy

  • @muddymuddymuddmann GOOD TO SEE SOMEONE THAT KNOWS AND USES OHMS LAW BESIDES ME.

  • @digitalfuk OHMS LAW IS A MUST! ESPECIALLY WHEN THE WHOLE VIDEO SERIES HAD MURPHYS LAW MESSING WITH IT. I GOT THE SERIES STRAIGHT WHEN I FIGURED I COULD USE MURPHY'S LAW TO PREDICT PROBLEMS AND HEAD THEM OFF. LOL.

    MUDDy

  • @muddymuddymuddmann When I took electrionics I learned about Ohms. It's been abot 15 years, but I find myself learning this stuff all over again a little easier lol. Can't thank you enough for your inspiration Muddy. So when are you going to get a big enough paycheck from Youtube that you can quit you day job :P

  • @thegreatwoodlife HA HA HA HAaa a... MAYBE A FEW YEARS FROM NOW. LOL. THANKS FOR THE COMPLIMENT ON TEACHING SKILLS. MY DAD USED TO SAY A LOT WITH A FEW WORDS. ME.... I SAY A FEW THINGS WITH A LOT OF WORDS JUST TO MAKE SURE NOONE GETS LEFT BEHIND. LOL. IT SURE BEATS 5 PARAGRAPH ANSWERS TO THE QUESTION I GET. IF THE QUESTIONS GET LONGER, THE ANSWERS GET LONGER. • after watching 20 or so times i still cant figure out if you connect the two sets of coils together before or after the rectirfier?

  • @MissSharley1 HELLO MISS SHARLEY ONE, GLAD YOU ASKED. THE COILS DONT GET CONNECTED TO EACH OTHER. ONE SET OF WIRES FROM A COIL SET CONNECT TO THE AC TERMINALS OF THE BRIDGE RECTIFIER. THE OTHER SET OF WIRES GO TO THE OTHER DIODE BRIDGE RECTIFIER.

THEN THE OUTPUTS OF THE SQUARE RECTIFIERS CONNECT TO EACH OTHER IN PARALLEL. (THAT IS POSITIVE TO POSITIVE, AND NEGATIVE TO NEGATIVE).

THEN THE POWER LEADS TRAVEL TO THE BATTERIES OR CHARGE CONTROLLER.

I HOPE THAT HELPS. ASK IF YOU NEED MORE HELP.

  • bless you man :)

  • @zezelic THANK YOU

  • Thanks again Muddy now my question is The turbine is producing AC voltage I get at least 48V Ac as read by the multimeter. I got an electric scooter regulater(with 24v batteries) but seems not what I should be using I see you are using rectifiers(Diodes) in video 6 so I can use the batteries to control the charge what are the specs so I can get some? I guess I have to use your diagram on the Video just that I have to guess the AC input and DC output if you can see what I mean .turbine..?..batt?

  • @fused210 RADIO SHACK PART NUMBER: 278-1181, OR JUST 8 AMP BRIDGE RECTIFIERS RATED AT 400 VOLTS REVERSE VOLTAGE. I KNOW IT'S HIGH RATINGS BUT I FIGURE THEY ARE BETTER OFF ABOVE STANDARD THAN BELOW STANDARD. THEY ARE ONLY 2.50 USD EACH. SO 5 BUCKS SHOULD COVER THEM. THE TURBINE IS JUST A TRICKLE CHARGING UNIT SO I FIGURE THEY WILL NOT DAMAGE THE BATTERIES IF THEY ARE NOT LEFT ON CHARGE FOR MORE THAN 8 HOURS.

  • Hi again Muddy . After destroying two fans I manage dto get one working. But now I only usesd two wires with the highest ohms i.e grey and I think red. Anyway I have used thre button NEO magnets as you have done and getting quite high AC voltage ...about 50 with a few turns. However I cannot get this to light a car light bulb. And with the diodes what specs will i need to convert this AC to DC? Thanks once again Muddy.

  • @fused210 THE SMALLER FAN MOTORS WILL NOT PUT OUT AS MUCH POWER AS THE BIGGER ONES, LIGHTING A LIGHTBULB MIGHT TAKE USING BOTH SETS OF COILS AFTER RECTFICATION. THE OUTPUTS OF THE RECTIFIERS SHOULD BE IN PARALLEL, ie, POSITIVE TO POSITIVE AND NEG. TO NEG.. AFTER YOU PUT A GOOD 4 TO 5 FOOT PROP ON IT, THE RPMs WILL SPIN MUCH FASTER THAN YOU CAN TURN IT BY HAND. 400 TO 800 RPMs, DEPENDING ON THE WINDS. THIS WILL MAKE THE VOLTAGE GO HIGHER. A LIGHT BULB WILL SLOW THE PROP DOWN BUT IT WILL LIGHT UP.

  • @fused210 A CAR LIGHT BULB HAS A LOWER RESISTANCE THAN A HOUSEHOLD LIGHT BULB. THAT MEANS IT USES LOWER VOLTAGE AND MORE AMPS. OUR UNITS CREATE HIGHER VOLTAGE AND LESS AMPS FOR THE SAME AMOUNT OF POWER. SO THE HOUSEHOLD LIGHT BULB HAS A THINNER WIRE INSIDE WITH MORE RESISTANCE. THIS MEANS THAT ALTHOUGH IT USES HIGHER VOLTAGE, IT USES LESS AMPS. TRY A 40 WATT LIGHT BULB FROM THE HOUSE. IT SOUNDS STRANGE BUT IT WILL LIGHT UP BEFORE THE 12 VOLT BULB. THESE ALTERNATORS MAKE VOLTAGE WITH NO PROBLEM.

  • @fused210

You cant get light bulb to light because you cant get enough power with both windings...voltage that you measure isnt right...voltmeter shows you voltage RMS value of SINE wave...and you dont have sine wave ...it is more like this

  • @peppino66castro RUN IT AS LONG AS YOU WANT. THE COILS WILL HOLD UP. WHEN YOU PUT THE BLADES ON YOU WILL SEE THAT THE LENGTH OF THE BLADES HAS A LOT OF LEVERAGE AND IT WILL RUN.

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU GOT THOSE MAGNETS REALLY CLOSE TO THE STATOR.

GREAT JOB. THIS ONE OUGHT TO PUT OUT WELL.

    MUDDy

  • hi scott, my brother hook the pma to attic fan, its not windy now but i try to turn it with my hands and its real hard, should i take some magnets off ,or you think i sholud try with blades? thank you joe

  • @peppino66castro NO JUST WAIT FOR THE WIND. I BELIEVE WHAT YOU ARE FEELING IS THE COGGING OF THE MAGNETS. THIS IS OK. THAT MEANS THAT YOU HAVE A GOOD AMOUNT OF MAGNETIC FLUX GOING THROUGH THE COILS.

THAT'S IS GOOD. MORE ELECTRICITY. THE BLADES WILL TURN IT OK.

THIS IS A LINK THAT HAS CEILING FAN MOTORS FOR $4.00 . IF YOU GET 3 IT WILL BE LIKE $28.00 AFTER SHIPPING. THAT MAKES IT LIKE LESS THAN 10 BUCKS PER MOTOR.

    muDDy

  • hi scott ,i pic a fan up at lowes for 18 dollar but its only .5 amps , that to smoll right?

  • @peppino66castro Hello again.

It should do ok. use a 4 foot prop on it. tou will get better results with that length. Smaller props spin faster. Thus you will get a better responce from it. the stator is a bit smaller in diameter, so the unit should spin a little faster. and you should get a decent charging unit when it is finished. the true power is in the magnets. a bad alternator design, becomes a good one, when you throw enough magnet at it. Make the gap as small as you can get it.

    MUDDy

  • the one you will send me.

  • @peppino66castro About 2 to 3 amps in a 20 to 25 mph wind.

  • @peppino66castro hey how are you?

positive to positive and negative to negative is parallel. parallel give you 12 volts and the amperage is doubled. series is connenting them like flash light batteries, and the amperage stays the same but the voltage is doubled.

    MUDDy

  • Hi muddy I am building one of these but I found out that my coils have one red,one grey and only one white cable. So which ones do I usefor my connections?

    Thanks in advance

  • @fused210 THIS ONE SOUNDS LIKE ONE I'VE NOT COME ACROSS. MAYBE ONE WIRE IS MISSING OR THE CONFIGURATION IS DIFFERENT. YOU MIGHT GET AWAY WITH HAVING ONLY ONE DIODE BRIDGE RECTIFIER. DO THIS FOR ME...

CHECK THE THREE COMBINATIONS OF WIRES WITH AN OHM METER TO FIND OUT WHAT THE OHMS ARE ON EACH COMBINATION OF 2. THEN POST THE RESULTS. I'M GLAD YOU ASKED.

    MUDDy

  • thanks scott i will try to solder them .about the solder that you use to solder capper is 60%lead and 40 % tin is that good and maybe put the paste no it ? thank you .joe

  • @peppino66castro @peppino66castro yes exactly . except....make sure you do not use plumbers soldier or plumbers flux paste. they are acid core and acid flux paste. use electronics 60/ 40 lead/tin rosin core soldier. and if you use flux paste make sure it is rosin flux paste.

    MUDDy

  • hi scott , its joe , i need to ask you about a power inverter fromn dc to ac a big of a inverter do i need to run a pool filter a 3/4 horse power.i have 4, 12 volt battery wat is the best way hook them? in series or parallel?and then go to the enverter to run the filter .thank you .joe

  • @peppino66castro 3/4 horse power = about 460 watts. It takes 1 horsepower to generate 746 watts. 460 watts takes 3.8 amps at 120volts. at 12 volts it takes 38.3 amps. the inverter is probably 85% efficient, so it would take about 44.08 amps from the batteries to accomplish this. how long you can run the pump is determined by the amp storage in the battery or batteries. If the inverter runs on 12 volts, add batteries until you have (1058+)amp hour total in parallel for 24 hours. MUDDy

  • hi scott it dosent look good, i try to solder the wire but they are so small and probably a lot of them broke so i gave up.i am goin to find another selling fan .man i am so mad this one was new i never used it .thanks for the help ill be in touch with you .bye joe

  • @peppino66castro E-Bay has some for 10 dollars with the shipping.

Dont scrap it yet though. put it on the shelf for later on when i rewire one with new wire.

    MUDDy

  • @peppino66castro I would just try again. sand the top of the coil and heat the copper with the soldering iron as you apply the solder on top till you have a big blob on it.

Dont worry about ballancing, because the stator doesn't rotate. and if it doesnt work it doesn't matter anyway. You cant hurt it any.

    MUDDy

  • @peppino66castro You can always jump between the coils as well. in other words, from one coil to the other connecting and/or skipping the damaged coil/coils.

    MUDDy

  • hi scott ,i need help ,i disassemble the motor to epoxy everthing, i set the magnets like i did before , after i try it didint work i got no power . the only thing i can think is when i take the cover out i stick a scrudriver inside and i see that there is 2 or 3 little wires from the coil are broken you think that is the problem or it may be something else . i was so happy ,please help me .thank you joe

  • @peppino66castro Hey Joe , Yup That's the problem. The good news is that the outside of the coils is where the damage is. With 100 turns or so per coil, the outside windings are the last windings in the coil. So minimal power will be lost in repair. Lift the bad wires up to be exposed. burn the insulation off the wires and sand them lightly. tin the wires with a clean soldering iron and new solder. Then solder all of the broken wires on that coil together. you may need more wire for jumping....

  • @peppino66castro 2ND PART: Set your meter to read 200 ohm scale, and Test the wires coming out of the coil set to see if there is a reading. The reading should be a little less ohms than before. if it is the same as before then you will not notice any effect at all in output. Last of all,... Pat yourself on the back for a good job well done. if you do not get a reading then heat up the solder joints a little hotter and test again. Let me know how you fare in this repair job.

    MUDDy

  • hi scott ,ok i put the double stacks of magnets in ,i hooked up one meter for each coil and i spined it with an electric drill i got 110 volt from 1 coil and 60 from the other coli is that normal or did i do something wrong.thank you joe

  • @peppino66castro normal. the smaller voltage is from the excitation coil. the wiring of the diodes will have the outputs from the rectifiers in series. That means at the speed of rpm you were turning the motor, you will have 160 volts out.

The resistance of the coils will allow the batteries to regulate the voltage. all of the excessive voltage will turn into amperage.

  • hi scott questio when you put the 3 magnet together do ypu glu them ro they stick together by theyr own power thanks joe

  • @peppino66castro HEY JOE,

I usualy epoxy the steel banding and let it cure real good first, then I arange all of the magnets, and adjust them as even and perfect as I can. Then I place a drop of super glue at the base of the magnets. and while i have a tooth pick in hand I drag the super glue up the side on 2 sides. then I mix more epoxy and spread it all around the base of the magnets. and then mix some more for the sides of the magnets. That makes sure that they dont move at all.

  • hi there scott question when you put the 3 magnet toghether do you glu themand do you put thrm north and south or they stick togrther by theyr own power thanks joe and exuse my english

  • @peppino66castro You can puper glue the stacks of magnets to gether before installation , but do not coat the whole sides. You will want the epoxy to have a surface to adhear to. The super glue is just for tacking them down for the final epoxying.

  • @peppino66castro hi scott ' when you double up on the magnets do you put 2 stocks of magnets north and 2 sourth or you do 1 stock north and 1 stock south. do i after water proof the coil? thanks. joe

  • @peppino66castro There are 2 sets of coils. an inner, and an outer set. You should have one polarity for each coil in the outer set. If you can squeeze 2 magnet stacks within one coil then do it. If there is space between the coils about as wide as one coil, then treat the pace as though it were another coil with a different polarity.

  • this is really great........... this is really a good idea to recycle a ceiling fan with a broken propeller to build a wind power.. thax man, you did a great job

  • @xzharmayne03 Ya and if the blades are not broken, I just break them anyway. Then its like a point of no return. then ya gotta build it. and if you tear it up, its ok, there is another one around the corner. you gotta love it.

    Thanks

  • try to rewind with different size of copper wire you will get mor amp

  • i DID ON THE HARBOR BREEZE MODEL . IT DOES GREAT. AND I USED A BIGGER PROP. NOW I NEED A BETTER TOWER.

  • i dont know the math. ^_^

i dont have a background in electrical and mechanical.. is it still possible for me to make one? ^_^

Or, maybe i'll just view here and remain a viewer and go focus on my job so i can pay my bills. . ^_^

  • shoot ! I would do both. it is very possible to build this with no math and run it with ease...

used extension cord and a used ceiling fan means it should only cost about 60 to 80 bucks.

so why not. you cant show it if you dont build it. check out the WIND TURBINE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS vid. this runs 12 strands of lights and could run 24 more.

I say this because it barely phased the turbine at all.

  • Hello muddymuddymuddmann

I have to admit I am very impressed with the quality of your videos here on youtube.

They are certainly a pleasure to watch as I do enjoy them.

I am sure there is many others who also feel the same about your videos.

  • Hi from India,

Brilliant, I am going to do it man, Thanks a lot.

  • Ya just go for it man. I will help if you need to ask anything. these small units wont power a house , but they can power all my christmas lights. When I added twelve strands of 60 led lights it didnt phase it much. catch the next video. WINY LIGHTS and Wind turbine Christmas lights.

  • hey, mudd

i got a question what size of magnets u using plz in milimeters ^^ magnets that can hold 6.4kg is to mutch ?

  • 1.27cm x .35cm. I believe that is close.

i could use any thing that fits and closes the gap a little tighter, as long as it is under 3 cm wide.

  • Hello Every one , Sorry for the delay on posted questions and answers. I have been realy busy lately. but I will be putting out some more vids and getting back into the swing of things. I love doing this and have missed it much. IM BACK!!!!!

    MUDDY

  • OK lets look at the coils on the outside only. there are 2 pieces of metal going into each coil. this is one polarity position. the next 2 are going into the next coil. this position is of the opposite polarity. the next videos are almost finnished. they will show this more clearly. i will probably upload them tonight. hit the subscription page. if you need more help, feel free to send a message and ask any and all you want or need to.

  • question about magnets, are all rare earth

magnets made of Neodymium can you

explain how to postion magnets relative to the coil winding direction again... it not

so clear to me....also doubling up magnets

  • YES rare earth magnets are neodymium iron boron. and the new videos are out now . i hope paet 7 answers it for you . if not let me know. mudd

  • Oh ya , its an easy picture to illistrate. there are the same amout of coil possitions on each of the coil sets. and they all fire the same amount of times per revoluion. so if there is 14 coils per set , that would mean 2 coils pass the same magnet for a full cycle of pos and neg. so that means 7 cycles per revolution. So at 10 RPM you would get 70Hz on each set. after rectification you would have a ripple of 140Hz and 280 when added together.

    mudd

  • I'm surprise that coil 1 and coil 2 have the same frequency. Since they are for different speeds, I thought one would have more cycles per rev.

  • the frequency of the rectified output would only be in a dc ripple form that is a weak ripple at that.

    mudd

  • There are the same amount of coils on the inside as there are on the outside. the magnets pass all of the coils equally. but if for some strange reason of design they didnt have the same frequency.... the outputs of each of the coil sets are wired into different diode bridge rectifiers and THEN the outputs are in parallel.

    so it still wouldn't matter.

Good question though, it gave me the chance to open the concept up.

Good original thinking!! 5 stars to you my friend.

    MUDDy

  • does this work with box fans or just ceiling?

  • There is a conversion for box fans . but the concept due to the rotors and stators being opposite of designs , it is a lot different. that would take a lathe or milling.....but there is a way to do it at home with minimal tools and i will get into that in about a month. Thanks for the comment . MUDD

  • Good job Scott. I have my experimental VAWT together for testing but (of course) no wind here now. Looking forward to the next one. DS

  • i VE SAID IT BEFORE , THAT IS A GOOD SIGN. ITS NOT MURPHY S' LAW ITS JUST THAT THE WIND KNOWS THAT THERE' NO USE IN TRYING TO TEAR IT UP NOW. IT MUST BE A GOOD MACHINE. MUDDd

  • yYOU COULD NOT FIND VID 3 BECAUSE I JUST PUT VID 2 UP TODAY. VID THREE IS TONIGHT I HOPE. NO NOT QUITE ,,, THE DIODE BRIDGES ARE WIRED IN PARALLEL FOR LOWER VOLTS AND MORE AMPS, AND THE BRIDGES ARE WIRED IN SERIES FOR MORE VOLTS AND LESS AMPS. .. DEPENDING ON YOUR BATTERY BANK AND YOUR RIG OUTPUT. MUDDd

  • Great info, so informative. One question, actually 2: Did you say the diodes are wired in parallel? How is that accomplished? And the batteries, if wires have more than 50 watts each, wire in series? If the wires have less, then wire in parallel or not? Also, I can't find vid #3. Thank you so much! 5 stars!

  • @anitatbanana HEY I JUST FOUND THIS UNANSWERED COMMENT, SORRY SO LONG TO ANSWER. THE (OUTPUTS) OF THE DIODE BRIDGE RECTIFIERS ARE HOOKED IN PARALLEL. USING ABOUT 18 GAGE WILL BE MORE THAN ENOUGH TO CARRY THE LOAD. ABOUT 10 TIME MORE THAN ENOUGH. THAT IS THE GAGE OF MOST 50 TO 100 FOOT ORANGE EXTENTION CORDS. MOST ARE FREE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IF YOU KEEP IT IN MIND AS YOU DRIVE AROUND. OR THEY ARE ABOUT 10 TO 20 DOLLARS AT THE STORE. THIS IS A LOT CHEAPER THAN BUYING WIRE.

  • great video hope your wind turbine works great

  • Yup You SURE CAN . send me the pictures of it. what you will wind up doing is the same thing that i did with the one in the air. curl some steel banding that is wide enough to touch the bottom and the top from the inside. then place your magnets on the steel banding. or do like team leader did. he spent time grinding the induction ring to fit the mags. his is kickin so i hear. check your mail and send me the pictures for exact details of what to do next. the next vid is almost done too. mudd

  • great stuff Scott, BUt the fan motors i have are like that black one in your vid can i use it still or no. WEST COAST DOUG LATER...........cant wait for part 3

  • Ive been working on all of them at the same time to get the details in order. but I found out that focusing one one step at a time is faster. all of them are almost finnished. all i have to do is focus on the next one and it will be finnished tonite. Working on one thing at a time was never easy for me. ill show the completed inside for you. MUDD

  • thanks it was a lot of work with the rest of the vids comming. they will be out real soon. MUDD

  • well done:)
