Sharks can't close their eyes, they don't have eye lids. :P But in all seriousness this video is ridiculous. The animal just got stuck. It had already fed, so it wasn't interested in eating them. If it was, it would have lingered until they got out of the cage, not flee the scene immediately. Unless desperate, an animal will not exert more energy than necessary to attain food if it does not have to. Unlike us, they do not have unlimited access to food sources and must spend their energy wisely.
I dont know much about sharks, but it seems clear that the shark did not want to hurt the guy. The shark went for the bait, and got stuck in the cage and panicked, so when it was free it swam off. This was no life and death situation at all. The guy was scared, just like the shark was.

Look, sharks have attacked people, but they don't actively seek out humans. There are a lot of factors surrounding a shark attack like time of day, visibility, wearing shiny items, erratic movement. Some sharks are simply more aggresive (Bulls, Lemon). The majority of the time, its mistaken identity. If sharks liked people, there'd be attacks everyday

I've had a 6 foot blue shark right againts my mask while abilony diving and she was spooked from hitting my mask she fled fast and I was just as spooked as she was the same size her eyes rolled and she went in panic mode this is common in sharks when they taste somthing I have also come face to face with a orca and they are way bigger and alot less spooked

"Bloodthirsty?" come on. Don't try to make it more epic than it actually is. I don't think the shark was trying to attack them. If it had been, it's eyes would have rolled over white, which is what normally happens when it attacks something. It had tremendous momentum going, and it was a mistake. The shark got stuck, and it probably freaked itself out (as well as the divers) and that's why it was gone as soon as it got free. But, this was definitely a dangerous situation to be in.

In response to 2MetalHead0: The much greater percentage of people attacked by sharks were not risking their lifes to be swimming with sharks or anything, just doing other things, and that's it. Of course most of it involved diving, but many were not intending to risk their lives in the presence of sharks. The few that do risk knowingly and get hurt is too small to note.
1. If you get in the water, where sharks live, you are knowingly putting yourself at risk.
2. If your are getting in the water you had better know if sharks live there.
3. The majority of people bitten by sharks are spearfishermen, surfers and fishermen that are bitten after the "catch" in this case sharks have been pulled from the water.

Typical bullshit media sensationalising an accident, it wasn't an attack. When a White shark strikes and it's jaw totally shut, a flap of skin covers the shark's eyes so after eating the bait the shark was blind and swam into the cage ,shark's cannot reverse so it just kept trying to swim foward sharks don't like human flesh ,it's blubber they're after .

"Bloodthirsty?" come on. Don't try to make it more epic than it actually is. I don't think the shark was trying to attack them. If it had been, it's eyes would have rolled over white, which is what normally happens when it attacks something. It had tremendous momentum going, and it was a mistake. The shark got stuck, and it probably freaked itself out (as well as the divers) and that's why it was gone as soon as it got free. But, this was definitely a dangerous situation to be in.

The narration was bullshit. It was not a "blood thirsty" attack. The sharks eyes were rolled over shut and it hit the cage blind. You can see that if you watch the video for crying out loud.
The ocean is big and a shark is not used to things being in the way as it swims away from a strike.

Of course most of it involved diving, but many were not intending to risk their lives in the presence of sharks. The few that do risk knowingly and get hurt is too small to note.

2. If your are getting in the water you had better know if sharks live there.
3. The majority of people bitten by sharks are spearfishermen, surfers and fishermen that are bitten after the "catch" in this case sharks have been pulled from the water.

omg they are so dramatic! the shark never attacked the cage, it attacked the bait went to swim off and ended up get its head stuck in the cage, sharks can't swim backwards... therefore it could only get out by twisting the cage and getting out, it had no intention to attack them dumb dramatic fucks... yes it was a close encounter but it swam off too show it goes to show that it never was interested!!!
