the question is, how you measure the quality of a serve. Speed: Karlovic has recently broken Roddick´s record.
Aces: Goran & Ivo have the highest number in aces/per trial. Total aces in matches: Ivo after Isner´s unusual match in Wimby. Precision: Ivo with his heigt can easily hit super angles with a FLAT and speedy serve, where smaller players like Pete&Roger have to use spin.
Ivo mostly makes it to the tiebreak, coz his ad cant break him.
Accuracy and percentage of serves in have to be considered. Roddick is capable of serving high percentages with blistering pace. Definitely agree Sampras had the best second serve of all time. For me though, if i could have a serve, it would be Sampras' or Goran's.

Karlovic would be nothing without his serve... pete would... petes general game is what elevates him above Karlovic... not his serve... but if I could choose a serve I wouldnt choose Karlovic´s... cause height is the reason why he serves so well, since I dont have his height i would choose petes serve cause his technic is better... if pete was as high as ivo his serve would be enormantic !!!
@SamCoreJ no majors doesnt make his serve worse than petes... his general game is what elevates pete above ivo, not his serve.. beating players like federer, pushing nadal into a tight three setter, beating "at the time" world nr. 1 hewitt, with those ground strokes !? proves how good ivos serve is. without that serve = 0 but I would choose petes for myself. Height is what makes ivos serve good. Petes technic is better and if he was 6 ft 10 his serve = superior to anything we´ve ever seen!

On je bio talent sa određenim mentalnim barijerama zbog kojih je bio lošji igrač nego što ustvari jest. To sad dokazuje na senior turu gdje igre s osnovne crte ko da je čisti baseliner.

E tu se slažemo sasvim...jedan od najneshvatljivijih njegovih udaraca, ako već pričamo o tome, mi je forhend dijagonala kojim vraća samo loptu u igru...jedino što me zadivljuje kako je to prolazilo sve te godine...on da je imao ostale elemente vrhunske ili samo vrhunske voleje ko Edberg u to vrijeme, mislim da bi bio broj 1., al upravo to što kažeš, mentalni sklop + tehnički nedostaci i to pogotovo na backhendu koji je često zamjenjivao samo sa sliceom...
