If you knew anything about Congress you'd know that rarely are bills fully read prior to go to the floor for voting. Do your homework and stop parroting 'soundbites'. The Patriot Act wasn't read until after it passed and what is commonly known as the Prescription Drug Bill, which passed by one vote and had no input from the Democrats, was unread due to time constraints.

Not justifying... just reporting the facts. The Prescription Drug Bill was $400B and who was on the forefront of getting it through the House... Rep. Billy Tauzin (R-LA). While acting as a Representative for Louisiana, he was given a waiver by the House Ethics Committee to pursue a job as a lobbyist for the prescription companies. The same day he left Congress and 2 months after getting the aforementioned bill passed, be was named Director of PhRMA. And yes, many Dems voted with the Repubs.

The question is not obama or rush. Instead it is what will work? We need to have level heads. What approaches will work? Look at history and see what has worked and what hasn't. It is the difference between doing what is right and doing something right. Have any of you done the math on this stimulus package???? $819Billion for 4 million new jobs equals $209,000 per new job!!! Now what kind of new jobs are being created for such a cost. I could hire a person for 5 years to sit and do nothing for $40K a year for $209,000. Obviously, there is a lot more in this bill than job creation. There's hundreds of billions of waste. And THAT is what Republicans are voting against. Where's Obama's scalpel that he spoke of so many times during the campaign??

I simply made a point, that most people don't fully understand the stimlus bill, they just hear that it's "good" and without thinking it through, they say yes to it. But the reality is, that in order to stimulate the economy and create 4 million jobs, you need a lot less than $819Billion. It costs about $15K - $25K to create a single new job. So YES, I am in favor a stimulus package that creates 4M new jobs at about a cost of $100B. I am NOT in favor of the additional $700B of government waste.

(CONTINUED) If you really want to do the right thing, then ask President Obama to pull out the scalpel he promised us he was going to use - in each of the debates - and trim the stimulus bill from $819Billion to say, $200Billion. If the cost is $209,000 per job, even if you amortize that over 30 years, the average job has to generate an additional $21K in tax revenue. Or in other words, has to pay well over $100K. (given that I'm a CPA, my analysis of this stimulus is actually based on thought).
