This game was ported to many systems, including the CD-i. Me and the 6 or 7 other CD-i fanboys in the world are quite pissed off that this got released while the promising "The Apprentice 2" (nothing to do which the lame show) got canned. On an unrelated note, issue 8 of "Retro Gamer" gave the Amiga version "12/100", and said the animation makes "South Park" look like a Disney epic.

I remember playing this at a very early age. This game had me so confused. I had no idea what to do, and when I tried I failed. I kept to my Donkey Kong and Mario games, but I kept coming back to see what I could do over and over again. Its only now, well over a decade later, that I just looked up what the game was (having only just discovered its name after effortless searching, lol) and I finally found it! Now I'm gunna do what the 4 year old me couldn't. PLAY AND BEAT THIS GAME!

This was awesome on DOS-CD, but I dont doubt it was lacking on the SNES, much like Doom.

is sad that the game actually had a great soundtrack (especially the 3do version), nice graphics and a decent plot.

but the gameplay sucks in all the versions and really killed what it could be a good game, maybe not a great game but it certainly could have been a pretty decent game

dammed if it had that 3d rotation,it would,ve make it feel way more realistic,yes i know those games sucks,but combining mode7 with such 3d rendered graphics would,ve make it complete.

@ElensarFFXI Me too, a (former) friend of mine claimed it was the greatest game ever, and boasted about its 24 bits fx (or whatever it was called), so I got to borrow it for 8 of my own games.

I went and angrily demanded he give me my games back, I wish this game had been as good as it claimed, but its not even close to beating the worst shit a Snes can offer.

At least this SNES version is just average,i had this game on the Amiga and it was a much worse version than this,it was a crappy port of an average game.

I agree this one being a bad game. I even remember how the game magazines thought, that RotR would be a great game; in the end, imho, utter failure.

The only decent thing about this game is the graphics. The animations are really nice, considering this was released for the SNES. Graphically, this is the DKC in fighting games - but too bad so much potential was wasted. Acclaim DID create some memorable games otherwise - think NBA JAM, Turok, Dear or Alive and more, besides some trashy ones.

I remember being so excited in electronics boutique waiting to buy this random game i just found, rise of the robots sounds cool right? Then I got home and found out it was a crappy fighting game and you could only be 1 shitty character and there were not even any special moves really...this game mad me so sad lol, i tried playing it over and over and it was just shitty, hard, and dumb

And one more thing:In the genesis version if you dont knock your opponent down before the timer runs out, you lose automatically, even if you have much more life than your opponent, and he wins.

The genesis version is godawful, i tried it, and the controlls are horrible, along with the music, but that version has some awesome video cutscenes.

But the whole game is just crappy, when you lose on the trainig mode,the game restarts just like if i play the regular game, the only change is, that you can choose your opponent for a fight.

But the snes music of this game is awesome. :D

Incidentally, a bit of trivia: Only the title theme is actually composed by Brian May. He did compose an entire soundtrack for the game, but didn't get it in to the developers on time, so they just had Richard Joseph do the rest of the soundtrack.

The sequel for PlayStation 1 isn't bad i think anyway ...
