@cogicchaplain Thank you for the compliment. I would love to tell you where I got them, but they came with the bike. All the modifications I've done to the bike ever since I filmed this I sourced the parts from Morley Muscle. In all probability he has some.
UFO Performance has ram air scoops that are carbon fiber, that really work too, if you want to check them out.
I removed 4 discs from each side and now I'm down to eight per side. Didn't sound as nice as it used to, but not too much of a difference. The bike now idles slightly higher though. Up to about 1100-1200 rpms from 1000 rpms. Didn't take it for a good ride yet so can say if the ride is different.
Sorry, i meant did you feel any difference in the performance regarding how smooth the engine and carbs run with 4 discs as opposed to the number the bike originally had. My bike has stock jets. I counted the discs and there are 13 not 8 as i originally thought!!!!!!!!!!!!! Going to remove some today. Maybe keep 7 per side. Hoping I don't have to adjust anything in the carbs!
@minicopilot Oh, no. It's just as smooth as it was before. The only difference is it takes a little less choke now to start, but I think that's because of my unique situation.
If your carbs are stock, then dropping to eight discs should not cause any problems at all.
@phlemdog my 99 v max has stock carb set so hopefully i can runn my supertrapp slip ons with 8 discs per side. how was the noise and engine running between 8 and 6 discs per side? sorry my english, im from sweden.
@TheTurtlePawner According to supertrapp, you can run eight discs per side without adjusting the carbs. Between eight and six there probably isn't a noticeable difference.
@minicopilot No, not really. It "feels" slightly stronger in the midrange right before the v-boost, but I honest don't know if it's any faster. No adjustments on the carbs, since they are CVs and have aftermarket jets. Supertrapp themselves say that you don't need to adjust the jetting at all for anything smaller then eight on each. Above that, or with the open caps, then you would need to re-jet them.
@minicopilot In this video, I had eight on each side, I've since reduced it to four, because the drone was a bit much for the type of riding I do. I bought it from Red Ember Cycles in Daytona.
My 1st max had Laser deep tones on it, can I find them now for my 2nd max? No! They sounded the puppies dangly bits. Why? WHY did I sell them *bangs head against wall*.
Laser will make me some for a mere £600 now that's a lot of money for somebody saving to move house. I could always bump the wife off I suppose *evil grin*
My first bike is my 02 Carbon Max! Bought it with 3,200 miles on it. It's customized with smaller directionals, led brake lights, drag bars, mirrors, braided hoses, Supertrapps (with 8 discs), of chrome, small smoked windshield, and is lowered 2 inches. LOVE IT!!!!!
Nice bike man, what do you think of the supertrapps exhaust?am thinking on buying one of those. Was the sound difference worth compare to stock exhaust?I'm not talking about performance figures here.Just soundwise.(looking for muscle sound, not straight pipe kind )
@Rayden296 Thanks, I bought the bike with them already on, but have seen and heard the stock system on another 02 that was for sale up here. It's fairly mean sounding, like a small block V-8 style rumble(though slightly higher pitch, because it's a small motor), rising to a "gates of hell opening" roar around when the V-boost kicks it. When they fired it up out back, I was already smiling before they came around with it full tilt, so for me, it's a worthwhile mod.
@scb0421 Wish I could, but the Military has a strict policy on Protective gear ware.
Add to the fact that my Mom was the one who was filming, and she doesn't even want me on a motorcycle, let alone something of this level of power, and I just decided to give it a few revs and leave it at that.
@phlemdog WOW..Thats just crazy..What do they throw you in the brig or someting. When ever I feel like riding I grab my riding glasses and just go. If I'm going to be on the highway I'll wear a helmet because a junebug in the forehead at 80 mph stings.
@scb0421 Nope, I would loose my right to drive on base for something like a month, banned from riding my bike for something like a year, and would probably have to retake the MSF course.
The required gear is a DOT approved helmet, long sleeve shirt or jacket(preferably leather), heavy duty pants like jeans or such, gloves, and boots.
I always wear a full face because of the bugs and stuff up here. The drivers are maniacs so I really don't like being in traffic without full coverage anyway.
@vmaxman88 I did. The windshield was already cracked from a little accident I had. When I got it back to montana, I rode it for a short while with the windshield on, but the buffeting on my helmet was horrible. My buddy and I just broke it off and took the mounts off.
Congrats on the new Max....but if it is your first bike, few words of wisdom from a fellow owner...respect her or she will let you know who's boss...hehehe Enjoy....
Hey man, you have a very nice bike. I was wondering if you could tell me where you got your chrome air scoops from. thanks .

@911SHIZBO Definitely not the best idea I've ever had. I'm a pretty cautious rider though, so I haven't gotten myself in too deep yet.
