It is said that this woman did not attend Buddy Holley funeral or visit his grave in all the years since.. If this is true she nothing more than another Yoko I have no respect for this person at all...
@blueticecho I'm sorry but that is one of the most idiotic things I have ever heard. Do you even know the history of what happen? She lost her fucking baby during that process as well. Plus she fucking heard the news that Buddy was dead on the news before she heard it in person. I couldn't even imagine what it must of been like to deal with that.
@blueticecho Maria did NOT steal another woman s husband nor keep him from his son. Buddy and Maria were both single and aveable HE made the first move so she didnt whore herself to get him.
@1luiszepol wrong. Buddy Holly was influenced by Elvis, Holly said it himself. Elvis came years before Buddy did. You're right about the Beatles, they cited Holly as one of their influences. "Without Elvis none of us could have made it.” Buddy Holly quotes (American Singer and songwriter, who produced some of the most distinctive and influential ...
It's not enough this song makes me feel like crying. You had to make a montage that breaks my heart. Buddy Holly was to me one of the greatest of the 50s. Too bad he left us so soon.
@overbrookXXX Yeah I totally believe you the movie didn't really tell the truth about Buddy's life. What do you think of the book by Peggy Sue, do you think she was telling the truth about Buddy.
@1365225 Personally, I believe she was since she was closer to Buddy then Maria. Peggy Sue grew up around Buddy, Maria was just a girl he met and married in just a few short months.
@coyclown Knowing someone LONGER dose NOT mean you know them BETTER. In general spouse s know thier mate on a leavel know one else ever can or will. Beside s Peggy Sue was never Buddy s BEST friend, her ex husband probaly knew Buddy better then she did
@1365225 No, I dont believe Peggy Who..Sue. Her ex husband was closer to Buddy then she was. Buddly didnt name the song for her he RENAMED the song to help his friend score points with his girlfriend
@wade477588 If that's what you think, then you are clueless! Busey did an awesome job capturing Buddy! A lot of people sure thought he did an amazing job & that's why he was nominated for an oscar for his portrayal of Buddy! He is a huge Buddy Holly fan & did a great job as far as his singing went! Come on how many actors today do you think ev

@TheZeke165 So What! What were you expecting, an exact carbon copy of Buddy Holly in Gary Busey? Were you expecting to not be able to tell them apart in voice and looks? Maybe you think someone else could have portrayed him better? Such harsh comments from the peanut gallery. I'm not a Gary Busey fan but I think he did the best job he could and the movie won an Oscar for Best Music, Original Song Score and Its Adaptation or Best Adaptation Score and it was nominated for Best Actor and best sound
@TheZeke165 I disagree. They did his story justice. Most biographies are kitsch and reenactments, but this movie was well done for one made in the 70s.
@TheZeke165 I totally disagree with you. Gary Busey did a great job as Buddy Holly and when he did True Love Ways at the end it was great. Believe me I'm not even a fan of Gary Busey!
What a beautiful trubute to Maria Elena Santiago. I never knew he was married, and to a hispanic at that. Especially because of all the anti- hispanic reheteric going on in the usa right now.
I am an eternal romantic. I meet Maria Elena when I was very young. My uncle Miguel (Tito) was her brother. My mother (Juanita) always told me that Maria Elena was her best friend in grade school and that she was the best! A very nice lady! This is a wonderful tribute to love.
My friend Paul and I are sitting here crying over this beautiful video. What a beautiful couple and what an amazing future they could have shared. But how wonderful to have had SUCH a love!!!
Best wishes to the Holley family on this day ! from Hazel Jackson & Paul Comte in Toronto.
What I don't understand is that she was a widow, then remarried and had 3 kids, and then divorced her husband and took back her first married name, and said she always loved Buddy Holly. I guess I don't understand that-she must have loved her second husband, she was married to him for a lot of years. Maybe someone who knows her can explain it or maybe she has never commented on it? Don't blast me for this comment, I am just trying to understand her. I'm from Texas & remember when it all happened
@upwards11 Well, the more I learn about Maria Elena, I have only two words: Yoko Ono. I really do hope I'm wrong, but seeing has how she's been "protecting" Buddy's name and memory like a cash-making mo-fo for all these years, I tend to stand by my first comment.
@upwards11 She was a young widow and had to make a life for herself..I am sure she cared for her 2ed husband just not in the same way as she did Buddy. Hard to exsplain unless you ben there, and I truly pray you never do.
In my last comment I did not mean to imply that SHE was there that tragic night, but it was not easy for her to be there in the 1990's, knowing that what SHE was seeing for the first time was some of the last things that Buddy saw so long ago, when they were both so young and full of hope for the future.
It's funny how like works out and how we don't appreciate things when we were young. All the loved ones we lost long ago are forever young in our minds while we've gone on and changed.
I had the pleasure of seeing Maria at her first appearance ever at the Surf Ballroom in the early 90's at one of the Buddy Holly tribute nights. It was bittersweet because to fans, we enjoyed the music of the bands that night, but to Maria, it was a return to a truly horrible night in her life, especially since the Surf now looks almost exactly as it did the night of the last concert. Fun for us, but eerie for her. She could not have been more lovely and gracious.
Maria Elena was Buddy's true love, she was his wife.. Peggy Sue was just a friend because she was going with Jerry Allison. Why doesn't she give up trying to be in the spotlight because of association with him? He could have had her if he wanted her. He wanted Maria Elena!!!!
WOW BUDDY WAS HOT TOO BAD HE DIED SOON EARLY:( rip

Gary Busey seems that he can't carry a tune in a bucket-----he shouldn't have ever sung out loud in that movie ...
a total diservice to Buddy Holly's music ... it's a shame.
