Not a fair comparison imo, the GTX 200 series got released more than 2 years ago, the HD 5xxx series got released in August 2009.. The GTX 285 still keeps up pretty good with the HD 5850, I've had bad experience with ATI to be honest, last year I bought a 4850 that died within 2 months, than a 4890 that didn't last longer than 4 months without overclocking or anything... Now I have a GTX 285 which performs awesome, and I still have a 7900GTX from 2006, that still works perfectly. Fuck ATI

compare gtx 295 to the 5850 and 5870 is unfair because the gtx 295 is a dual gpu. The fact that the 5850 or 5870 can compete with it is insane. Whats more insane is the consume less power, generate less heat and compete with a dual gpu. Give credit were credit is do guys.

the 5970 came out before nVidias gtx 480 and still kicked it's ass on most games. I also like ATi more for the color and textures of games, it seems to be more realistic looking than with nVidia.
even though the 5850 kicks the 285's ass, keep in mind that its 15months old and so i think they've compaired this because they're in the same price range. if NVIDIA want their products to sell better they should lower prices like ATI/AMD because amd/ati is quality and good priced so they should lower prices so WE get more bang for our buck

ATi cards are way more powerfull, they have way more Steam Progressors, they run cooler and they have better overclocking abilities cause oif 40nm GPUs, and ATi cards need less Watts (power supply)

I do too. I had an nVidia 8800 GT, which at idle had the same temperatures of my new Radeon HD5850 when it is on load (~60 degrees). When the 8800 Gt was on load, it was ~85-95 degrees hot. And the crashing just proves how bad nVidia are at designing cards.
Seriosly, it wouldn't be strange if ATi makes better cards than nVidia, due to them having 7 more years of experience than nVidia (ATi was founded in 1985, nVidia was founded in 1993)

You're probably right but will they affordable?? What's the point of achieving 300fps if you only can see 60fps of that and anything over that cap isn't shown to you (in the rare case that you have a 120hz you see the 120fps but even then 60fps is PLENTY smooth).

60hz isnt equal to 60fps are u an idiot fps doesnt require hz to run refresh rate is a different thin u will notice a difference for example try a 70 fps card and a 120 fps card u will se a difference

Outside benching, it's wise to enable Vsync (and thus your refresh rate is your capped max framerate) while playing a game unless you enjoy massive screen tearing. So yes 60hz is 60fps when you're actually playing a game.

The GT300 is going to be a good card, yes, but based on everything I've seen there's no way it'll be competitive in terms of price:performance. Double precision math performance isn't going to help games run faster and the Cypress is faster for single precision.
It remains to be seen how fast it'll actually be but it's not the golden egg you think it is.
Look, I've seen Fermi in person (SC '09). It's not going to win over any gamers...even the "pro rich gamers" which make up a very tiny percentage of the market that matters.

whell, it is better then ati, nvidia creates better cards on lower clocks/power usage. ati takes 5ghz on a gpu :S wtf!, way to much . nvidia gets same/better results on 2.0-2.5ghz. way better / less power / better overclocking

ATi cards are way more powerfull, they have way more Steam Progressors, they run cooler and they have better overclocking abilities cause oif 40nm GPUs, and ATi cards need less Watts (power supply)
Go watch any video, on any game with the 5870 VS the gtx285 OR the 5970 VS the gtx295.....

I do too. I had an nVidia 8800 GT, which at idle had the same temperatures of my new Radeon HD5850 when it is on load (~60 degrees). When the 8800 Gt was on load, it was ~85-95 degrees hot. And the crashing just proves how bad nVidia are at designing cards.
Seriosly, it wouldn't be strange if ATi makes better cards than nVidia, due to them having 7 more years of experience than nVidia (ATi was founded in 1985, nVidia was founded in 1993)

yes the new king is the HD 5970, with the potentail to massive oc rumors have it ATI will come out with a two 8 pin gpu @ the launch of Fermi by NVDA, the overclocked ATI 5970 will most likely be clocked closer to 900 mhz or even up to 1 ghz (wow) to compete with Fermi. now that beef gpu war that is)

You're probably right but will they affordable?? What's the point of achieving 300fps if you only can see 60fps of that and anything over that cap isn't shown to you (in the rare case that you have a 120hz you see the 120fps but even then 60fps is PLENTY smooth).
You're defending nvidia just for the sake of defending them. I don't hate nvidia though I don't like fans who follow them because they are a frame or two ahead (and will charge double the ati card that's biting at that card's heels)

What's wrong with a company making cards affordable and also more efficient, I supposed you'd like a card that took up 4 PCI-E slots in width and was 15" long while also consuming 1000W all it's own just so that you could get 20 more fps.

60hz isnt equal to 60fps are u an idiot fps doesnt require hz to run refresh rate is a different thin u will notice a difference for example try a 70 fps card and a 120 fps card u will se a difference

Outside benching, it's wise to enable Vsync (and thus your refresh rate is your capped max framerate) while playing a game unless you enjoy massive screen tearing. So yes 60hz is 60fps when you're actually playing a game.

Last time I checked the 5970>295, 5850/5870>285 (and the 285 is more expensive than the 5850, weaker than the 5850 and consumes more power...because that's the way it's meant to be paid.)

not really ati takes more power ati cards are overclocked nvidia's cards arent u will see that ati has a better stock cooler ati runs hotter but is smaller and more compact and it uses less power overall nvidia even uses less power while on the desktop butati uses higher voltage coz its overclocked its gpu is smaller so it needs to be overclocked

The GT300 is going to be a good card, yes, but based on everything I've seen there's no way it'll be competitive in terms of price:performance. Double precision math performance isn't going to help games run faster and the Cypress is faster for single precision.
It remains to be seen how fast it'll actually be but it's not the golden egg you think it is.
