KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MISS ARMY NURSE

  • i love this video ! very helpful!!

  • @BlessedBeauty901 thank you!!

  • love u! let's meet.

  • Hi Renee! Your video is great. I am in my first semester in my 2 year ASN school and eventually want to end up in Public Health. I think the military is a great way to be involved in something bigger. However I have little information so far. I will be talking to a healthcare recruiter as you advised in the next few weeks. What exactly is direct commission? Should I bridge over to BSN before I sign up?

    God Bless

  • @AshleyRoseMena Hi Ashley! Sorry for the delayed reply! Direct commission is basically another way for you to come into the military, but with already having a degree. I served no time in the Army prior to coming in, so I was commissioned as a 2nd LT. Some people are commissioned after serving years in the army, but when you cross over from being enlisted to obtaining a degree, you are selected and chosen. I hope this makes sense.. I'm not too great at explaining it!

  • @AshleyRoseMena The decision is really up to you if you want to bridge over to your BSN before you sign up. There are different programs that you may be eligble for before you even start nursing school. Have you spoken to a recruiter?

  • Thank you very much for posting this... I'm from FL too, woot. I'm in a CC now working on prereqs for my second Bachelors in Nursing so I can join via Direct Commission, but the USAF. Regardless, would you happen to have any idea of the selection rate for Direct Commission nurses? (Army or any branch). My only concern is I'll finish my BSN and then I won't get selected. However I see stuff elsewhere that makes it seem like all branches are desperate for BSNs... so I dunno. Thoughts? Thanx!

  • @L8onL8on Hey there to my florida viewer!! What part? ok, so I am not sure of how the selection process is going for the Army or AF. I will tell you that I was told the group that I came in was one of the last few groups of the Army accepting brand new nurses that were still in nursing school or that had <6 months of experiences. There are a lot of us, so I think they have cut back.

  • @L8onL8on The best thing for you to do is speak directly to a health care recruiter and find out because they have all the numbers and all that stuff of how many people can be accepted. I made sure I had everything in place before I even graduated so all I had to do was finish and everything was already set up. The sooner you start the process, the better. I think you can start like a year out. Check it out!

  • @Renee4christ - Ft. Lauderdale area for the moment but moving back to Orlando next year. :D // I've already chatted with an AF Healthcare recruiter and from what I recall he said he had a 100% selection rate last year, including two 47 year olds. (I'm 30). However he said it varies by year. And yes I plan to start the process a year out. :) // I think I will subscribe to you now in case I have any more military Nursing questions in the future. ^_^

  • @L8onL8on Awesome! Sounds good! keep me updated!!!

  • ; I LOVE YOU!...thank you sooooo much for this video. I am in my senior year of nursing school and I really really want to join.

  • @tazzyJadz lol!!! you are greatly welcome!

  • Really really helpful! Thank you so much for posting this. I'm in community college right now, finishing up my GEs to transfer to a Nursing School. When do you think I should talk to a recruiter?

  • @poohie1130 You are welcome! It's never too early to speak to a recruiter :-)

  • thank you so much for the video..this helped me out so much i just graduated from high school and im thinking about joining the army nd becoming a Nurse but my dad doesnt really want me to join because he thinks that they would send me out to war..

  • @stephbonjour2011 Well congrats in graduating high school! Joining the military is a big step for a lot of families to deal with.. Give him some time and if and when you go speak to a recruiter, take him with you so he can ask questions as well!

  • I was thinking about going into the army as a nurse but i only have my ADN. I have had my license for a year now but cant find a job in the local area. Would the Army help find me a job once I have finished the OBLC (for reserves)? I dont think Im interested in doing active duty but Im not sure. I am currently half way finished with my BSN. Your video was very helpful!! Also, do you know anything about married couples who are both nurses wanting to join?

  • @Psnluke425 Hey there! Sorry this reply is so late, I'm getting ready to make a video answering your questions along with a few other FAQ's. Thanks for your support!

  • @Psnluke425 Ok, so I completely forgot to write down your question in my notes. I'm sorry!! As far as the Army helping you find a job once you finish with OBLC as a reservists, it's best that you have a job already which is the case for just about everyone that I met there who served in the reserves. It will just make it an easier transition. Most people worked for the government already and work as a civilian nurse at a military hospital.

  • @Psnluke425 I'm not sure if they will help you find a job if you don't already have one. As far as couples joining together, yes, we had at least two that I can think of that I went to BOLC with and they seemed to like it just fine. At the hospital I work at, there are two head nurses that are married to each other :) Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!

  • This was very helpful. I'm going into my senior year of nursing school now and I am seriously considering joining the air force nurse corps. Thank you!

  • @Godzdesign1 Awesome! Keep me posted!

  • Love your hair :)

  • @libbylu111 Thank you!!!!

  • You said that you joined after you finished your BSN right? Did you have loans that needed to be payed off? I'm curious to know if the army would pay my loans bc i graduate in Dec and i've been thinking of joining but wanted to know how many years i would have to commit to them if they do pay my loans. Can you answer that? Thanks, i love this vid, so glad i stumbled upon it.

  • @fya4you Yes, I came in after I graduated with my BSN. I signed up with the loan repayment incentive, so the army will pay up to $120k of my student loans back. I owe a total of 3 years, but I can be called back within a 5 year period when I get out. If you don't have a lot in student loans, they also have a $50k sign-on bonus that's paid over a 3 year period. This may have changed now, because this was in 2009 that I signed everything. Hope this helps!

  • this video helped so much! thanks!!

  • @xmandapandax13 Awesome! You're welcome!

  • Very informative video! *smiles*

    (◠‿◠) Kokofemme

  • Quick question.

Whats the age for males to get into the Airforce?

I wouldn't mind for them to pay for my BSN....lol

    MENDOZA

  • @777mendoza777 Mendoza! I think the age limit is like 36 or something close to that... You're never too old Mendoza, never too old!! LOL!

  • Wow this was an interesting video, I didn't know that you were a army nurse until your previous video.

  • @missreed012 Thank you!

  • Great video Renee!!! Being an Army nurse isn't my cup of tea because I have a family but I think that option would be great!!!

  • @deanna0384 You're welcome! I wish you the best!

  • Thanks for explaining the difference between going in as a nurse vs going in before. I'm getting my RN-BSN right now, so I'm thinking about the AF when I'm done. BTW, what specialty or area of nursing are you getting into?

  • @7alevan You are welcome! The AF is great!!! I want to specialize in Community Health.
