Smh.... That's where I was born. Shoreline Dr in Pensacola Fl.. Wow. We just passed an anti tethering law here in Pinellas Co Fl but there are so many loop holes that it doesn't mean shit either way =( Fuckin retards. Why have a dog if your gonna chain it up..
Noticed on the slide the Animal Control Officer deemed the plank a shelter. Escambia or Scumbag county as I refer to them has had many problems in the law enforcement area with human trafficking cases and murder cases. It doesnt surprise me the Animal CO said that as they are very lazy about doing their jobs and their idiots on top of that so that doesnt surprise me.
I volunteer at a shelter. I see all different breeds. I socialize pitbulls quite regularly. Never had a problem with any, from 7 months to 8 years. The smaller dogs like Chihuahuas, Shihtzu etc are more aggressive. The poor excuses for "humans" should not be allowed to have dogs, period
Have to say, my son and I refer to these as trophy dogs, they are not a part of the family, rather just a possession. I do chain my dogs, for the few minutes they are outside to do their business...then its right back inside and onto the couch.
I hope the city leaders understand that dogs living in these horrible conditions reflects of them. They allow this and look the other way. I live in another state and what I say when I see this is "I never want to live anywhere that allows this behavior and conditions, even without the dogs chained the people are living in aborrhant conditions. It doesn't take any money to have a clean yard and water for a dog."
Is it the tether/chain itself- or is it that they are underfed, unsheltered, unmonitored, living in debris? Which is the problem- I see many problems. I am writing this in response to an email I got asking about support of a tether law. I don't see information here about what the tether law is. How is this different from crating a dog inside the house without AC or heat or food or water? I am not supporting chains- far from it- I am asking b/c what will keep them from doing this inside?
there are many problems, but chaining is particularly dangerous. See the dogs with the damaged necks? The dogs baking in the heat outside, unable to get to shade because they are chained? Chained dogs also are open to attack from people and other animals with no chance to escape
Inside they are at least protected from these things
very sad but awesome video. this is something that SHOULD NOT BE allowed. i do hope this vid helps in the plight of these beautiful creatures. i have 4 dogs n they're all my babies. none of them have EVER been tethered/tied up in any way....thank u for this video, pokeweed1
I agree on the pit bull remarks....it is NOT the fault of the animals. I once had a pit who was the kindest of dogs...the only viscous animal we need worry about is that of the HUMAN kind (as illustrated with this video). There are animals rights groups (a couple local) who would gladly protest and fight for this law....I hope you'll get in touch with them. I would gladly march and organize in an effort to see this come to fruition.
You need to send this to a television station. I would if I were you. I see many of them are PIT BULLS, which makes it particularly dangerous. If one got loose it could go POSTAL and make a kid into dinner. MIAMI DADE has made it illegal to chain a dog without the owner present. Also PLEASE give this video to your county commissioners. try to get something passed like Miami Dade no chaining law.
Pit bulls are not the problem. The breed is very gentle. The problem is PEOPLE! Your comments concerning pitts going postal is totally inappropriate. It just further the misconception of these gentle animals.

As long as there are ignorant and trashy people there will be tethered dogs. Sad.

I have never had a dog myself; but goodness. How could people be so cruel and hateful? Great video, but kinda long and drawn out. Overall, touching.

Not if they are chained up.

It's a violation of FL animal cruelty laws for dogs not to have water and shelter.
