  • my favorite song from the EARTHLING album. Pure energy!

  • favorite Bowie song

  • I love David Bowie! He is welcome in my bedroom any time

  • David bowies dead??

  • This is a Great song. They don't do it anymore now, you know...

  • RIP sweet prince

  • RIP David.

  • @awsom3ness why did you out that? As of Oct. 4, 2011 he is alive from what I know.

  • @OpalKittie1980 hi i would like to if he has any plans to do a cd or tour again because i am huge fan of his i met him when i was young in hosptial

  • @vicky20278 I do not know... To busy to keep up if he is releasing a cd or touring. I also live in a place I think he would never go. South Carolina does not get a lot of Big Artist.

  • Hmmm, almost sounds like bad edits. Find the full version of this if you can (the album version is 6:50 long).

  • @Niven42 It's the single edit that was released on 7" vinyl. Sadly both Dead Man Walking and Little Wonder had pretty awful edits done to make them fit at 45 RPM. Also edited for music video attention spans I presume...

  • I played the heck out of this album! David Bowie is one of my Mantras in music and Art forver! I love David Bowie till the day I die

  • trippy. wish i was on drugs.

  • One of his best. Amazing and exciting arrangement, beautiful melody, intriguing lyrics, strong sense of strength and tragedy.

  • ...and im gone, through the crack in the past... like a dead man walking!

  • very different from anything from bowie i've seen/hear.

  • Sounds like a theme from the Tekken series !

  • @majordoom1 No, just no.

  • @MSM3NT4LL

I said that beacause I find this tune very similar to last Tekken OSTs (since the 4th, there are much techno sounds like this one)

  • Oh I had those times when I just felt like zombie going through the motions of life. I was so sick of it all that I became numb. I couldn't do anything else. I stopped drinking about the pain and I stopped smoking pot cause it was stupid. I lost interest in everything. I just wished I was dead all the time. I would kill myself cause it was a sin and I didn't want to make God mad but I prayed for him to let me die cause I was so tired of the BS and empty world and cold people and lyers.

  • @Mineretta2012 Get help!

  • Ich leibe!!!! David Bowie ist wunderbar!!!!

  • why not salute your own minor escape. admirable.

  • Acoustic version on Conan O'Brien is pretty sweet.

  • I remember watching this video on my aunts' house a few years ago. My cousin said something who this man thought he was doing making this kind of videos, and my aunt replied "this man does it now, did it then, and did it in the sixties. Don't mess with him".

  • @marcosssssssssss1990 Your aunt is AWESOME, but your cousin sucks... No offense.

  • @MSM3NT4LL He's forgiven because he was like 9yo hehe

  • Comment removed

  • @marcosssssssssss1990 I love your aunt!!

  • I love how Bowie's music videos got really REALLY strange in the nineties :3 it's not my favorite time for him but deffinately my favorite music videos :D

  • This guy is a genius

  • If your interested in this song it is from his Earthling album. David Bowie doesn't have a genre, he makes his own.

  • @danethefurry i would say bowie is a genre

  • @cherokeesven Indeed. That's what I meant.

  • Love this track... GREAT album too! (Earthling).

  • i know this is a really good song... but i prefer the acoustic version to this. you can hear his style better and I don't know about you guys, but every time I listen to the acoustic one, I am moved. :)

    Long live David Bowie! <3

  • 35 people got scared.

  • the man is pure genius.

  • The full version of this song is incredible. It start towards the end becoming a full on rock song with seriously awesome bass line/playing then it ends as a Salsa Music song!

The best from the 90's, far a few in between in that decade mattered or were great, this just an example of a decade that should of been pushing forward as the millennium was coming up.

  • I LOVE YOU BOWIE!

  • @EnchantedMagickLove I HAVE TO AGREE!

  • How can he change so much between eras and still be awesome? I really love how he dressed in this period, very cool.

  • This song is, this song is, this song is, this song, this blew my mind!

    Bowie is immense.

  • sounds like something from tekken tag tournament

  • Comment removed

  • Is this like a demo of the live version?

  • This video just proves that Bowie would have made an awesome Riddler

  • Fantastic number. Great video. Like a dead man walking ... Enjoy.

  • Avant garde anyone?

  • nice decent music wooot i say woot

  • i love his 97' look!

  • @Eggs4Eva He looks very good, even today

  • I LOVE that Gail is in this! Awesome video

  • 0:16

  • the synthe sounds like the zone of the enders battle music. no way is anyone gonna catch that reference.

  • 1:23, I fall in love...

  • @Lyktwz I know how you feel. ;)

  • Mr Jones, your life is the enigmatic masterpiece in the Louvre of my psyche!

  • recién está mañana escuche esta canción en vh1 y me encanto

    en antes y después : )

  • I can't forget that this is the same guy who did starman, ziggy stardust and the man who sold the world. Bowie is by far my favourite musician, but when I compare this to his older stuff, its obvious that this is nothing more than a last desperate attempt.

  • @Benjimindle There is no such thing as a desperate last attempt when your still continuing on.

  • crazy

  • Every song He has ever made is amazing, period.

  • @oxbowthegreat well said!

  • @chickensandwhich252 Think what you want, but this sounds nothing like NIN.

  • @chickensandwhich252 Gee, this song/album is now how OLD? And you're still whinging? Fucking get off the drugs you little maggot. Moreover, why whinge about it now? This song is over a decade old - you only just COMPREHEND - well what a dumb shit you are.

  • Man, this is all gravy. I was raised on all the old bowie records in my parents record collection. I would have been content to call this man a master by the time I was born. Now I look back and realize that this one, and Earthling, is comparable in impact to my generation side by side with albums like Diamond Dogs and the berlin albums, Low, Heroes and Lodger.

  • @MrHateregistering going in circles, lard. Too much gravy

  • @parksy010101 That's so very stupid. You dont like my comment, I dont know what to do about that. I'll pour gravy to my hearts content on any artist I like, in these comment sections. What was it that you were hoping to achieve, commenting my comment? I am thinking it trough, and I dont think there are too many good answers to that, in fact, non at all that I can think of. Perhaps I missed something? Please enlighten me as to the actual value of your comment, if you would.

  • @MrHateregistering Dear Sir, has one's Pension cheque arrived? Indeed, one's comment was over a month ago, however, please forgive this ignorant reader if one is so popular as to have just arived to a response. Moreover, you didn't write that Looney Tunes cartoon with the dogs - you know the one - "Don't forget, the gravy?" - did you? Albeit, this reader is rather fond of circles.

  • @parksy010101 Parksy my dear, it might just be that I am not as fond of circles as you are, but this is getting to be a bit circular for my taste. My point was merely that I did not see the meaning of your comment there, three weeks ago. Since your tone is somewhat light and comical, I will tell you that I appreciate your fast reply, even though you didnt really answer me. As my question was not very important, I shall suffice with this reply that I got.

  • Confront your past. Dad, Mum, Guardian(s), pricks? Tell them.

  • 1:23: I really lover her..!

  • Great song :)

  • Earthling: Best. CD. Ever. Released.

  • good job david, un autre style métissé pour mon caméléon adoré !!! l'intro me fait pensé à un morceau de Jerry goldsmith (gremlin credit).

  • music from 1997 is the best _everything

  • Bowie is a pure genius, the number one for me, my inspiration! Thanks god for giving us such an amazing artist like him!

  • discoenex loves your videos.

  • cammaleonesque ......great piece of art from the shaman!!!!!!

  • Unique!! love it.

  • Old in the movies? David Bowie had a great turn as Pilate in The Last Temptation of Christ by Martin Scorsese

  • David is definitely one of the most talented and versatile artists of all time. He does so many wonderful things, so strikingly different and yet they all have his special magic. I just have to get up and dance every time I hear this. It has so much energy, I just love it.

  • Cool song!!!

  • whats his other recent album with the "techno like" songs near the end?this guy is remarkable boldly being a true musician experimenting and making it happen-fukyeah

  • Is there another version of this song? Not acoustic, put w/out the club beat.

  • Earthlings and Low are one of the few CD's that can make me feel good about living in shit.

  • I always think of Neil Gaiman when I watch this vid, for some reason

  • Quite a weird clip - but I love i t <33

  • This is my favorite bowie album. Is that weird?

  • weird is good :)

  • i don't think its weird, its an absolutely awesome album, bowie is just great!!

  • he was thinking of making an album that only wankers would dislike. jokes. But seriously, the album is great. Awesome sound, guitar, lyrics and composition. Makes the speakers shake, too.

  • The vid seems dreamlike, I love that there is no reference visually to technology although the song wreaks of it. DMW defies category, it starts with a Linn LM-1 clap for godsakes! Then its techno-like, then its a Rock song with the live drumming, then the BASS LINE towards the end - incredible.

The hypnotic background vox, stellar, the freaked out electric guitar like its playing itself! Then the album version ends with Salsa...! Play it loud in your ride, full on music overload! I love it!

  • thats what i was just thinking, the bass line is simply amazing!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • I found the Earthling CD which I bought originally on Cassette at Virgin MS back in '97. I instantly fell in love with this song and Little Wonder back then, I only played those, but now, I've re-appreciated the album as a whole, its brilliant. Every song is thunder.

  • the fact is, this is a great song, the electronic version, and the acoustic. It's Bowie, he's a great songwriter, all of his periods. Seu Jorge proved that you can take his best songs and play them any style you want which means it's a damn good song.

  • Brilliant arrangement of an acoustic number- excellent video ! The band's live performance is super ! I love the live acoustic too !

  • Bowie is GOD, and I am an atheist!!!!

  • @bradleythebear17

Funny, because this is the only era Bowie I enjoy.

Different strokes and all that, but I still gave you a thumbsdown for being a hater. :)

  • So why do you even bother to comment on this? BTW, if he faded after Ziggy, I guesshis 70s output wasn't worth much either.

  • The original is cool, but I absolutely love the acoustic versions he's done. They're probably the most vulnerable performances I've heard from him.

  • Wish he'd do more fast/hard songs like this.

  • Francis Bacon!!!!

  • bowie is a genious without time. with any kind of genre in music can do just art pieces thanks to his voice.

  • this is one of the heaviest songs i've ever heard him do.

    Awesome!!!

  • hail to the KIng :)

  • god hes hot i just want to pounce him and...... *zips my lips*

  • indeed

  • *chuckles*

  • David can do just about anything, fashion-wise, arts-wise, and of course musically. No one else has had such a wide spectrum of styles and carried them off as well as him. Love your work David!

  • I would say, Bowie is like Duchamp, one of the greatest artist of 20th century, we are lucky he is still creating art!

  • @fanamire1

ahhhh except john lydon who is so similar to bowie that its scarry :) unfortunately a little group of die hard fans knows abotu lydon spectrum...his electronic works during the ninetees, his PIL carrier, his artistic works like paintings and his philosophe attitude

  • @kokorlici John Lydon can't hold a candle to David Bowie. PIL was basically rubbish...

  • @paevo2010

oh, you really dont know what you talkin' about, dontcha? what do you know about lydon, tell me? did you know that on press conferrence 1997 he said - my next album will be solo album...journalists aske them why he won't sign PIL instead of his name 'cause in fact he is PIL deux ex machina...do you know FASCINATING reasonwhy he didn't do it?

  • @kokorlici What do you mean by similar? You think they look alike. I totally disagree, they look nothing like each other.

  • @fanamire1 i agree imensely. i am a massisve fan and my favourite bowie album changes from week to week, dead man walking makes me gurn and shiver, what a fucking great track! Almost makes me think that the 90's was a golden age of pop! just because bowie was there! thanks Dave x

  • I think the acoustic version is better than with all the added stuff. The acoustic version lends itself to Bowie's voice.

  • Irrepetible Bowie !!!

  • as long as i live, Bowies music will be carved in my soul

  • @PlanetMother bloody well said!

  • my favorite Bowie era, the 90's, with Earthling and Outside

  • Love the accoustic version of this song.

  • Cara que epoca mais interessante da musica mundial, pois artista que nunca imaginavamos em ritmos experimentais como o dance, vivendo este momento como o proprio Bowie, Madonna, U2, entre outros, 1997 o ano do dance!!!1

  • Wow this is pretty good.

  • I like to listen to this one whilest I'm having a puff. Fancy a fag anyone.

  • Ha ha! thats rich

  • Smoking is bad.

    nty

  • this song/album reminds me of the job I had when it came out, and how I listened to it on my discman like every day. lol.

  • Brilliant song, so underrated when it came out, folks were saying the usual rubbish "Bowie re-inventing himself badly". This was and still is a total groove.

  • He was sooooo ahead of his time man, I mean this was twelve years ago and still sounds so refreshing!

  • most things made in the 90's-prior sound better then the shit that has come out of this decade.

  • @pedritocobos absolutely!! i couldnt agree with u more!!!!

  • @pedritocobos That synth bass sounds kind of outdated.

  • @NoPetrol it'll get back in fashion ;D

  • @pedritocobos He is even more ahead of his time "today" than what he was back then because music is now regressing into nothing but generic shitty bands that sound like clones of each other with no creative spark, no individuality and absolutely no staying power.

The 90's was the LAST of great music, the 00's killed music.

  • @blade004 ehh, the music industry and radio's demand for crap that any idiot will listen to killed the potential for most progress, that and fewer album sales due to piracy which was far less prevalent then.

To find new, good music anymore, you almost have to look for independent label artists. Indi bands were always a good source, even when radio and pop culture weren't trying to force feed us nothing but slop.

  • love that bassline with that skanky melody playing over it

  • nice baseline, great song

  • Increible!

  • awesome song by an awesomely (probably not a real word) epic man. david bowie for ever :)

  • la wea trnasfuga

  • bowie is amazingggggggggg

  • remember the movie

    'hacker'

  • nice language and feelings for someone who reads the bible...

can't we all just get along????

    Great song and video!!

I remember he was one of the first "mainstream" musicians that experimented with electronic music back in the 90s! well done!

  • no... he just followed the stream. but this song and the whole album are great

  • the acoustic version is better

  • AH another great electronica song by BOWIE!!!!

    love the man

  • Extra VideoI haveBUY the 2 DVD I LOVE all video soutout Afred American With

    -Trent Reznort -(EXTRA) A++++++

  • This video is soo Bizarr

  • David Bowie - Dead Man Walking is that the name of this song?

    pppppppppplease thank u

    and he is soooo hot!

  • "Dead man walking" is the name of the song, yes.

  • Earthling is a masterpiece. Bowie is pure genius-

  • noU

  • ill give you a bashin if you like

  • Comment removed

  • You say it's "gay" like that's a bad thing.

  • yea and so does the bible so gtfo

  • The bible also says a man must marry the wife of his dead brother. Fancy your sister-in-law?

  • This song is so amazing - compare this studio version with the acoustic version that dave and reeves do. It is duplicitous in as to how it affects you. This version is so direct - the narrator accepts his fate with arrogance as if he spits "fuck You! I know I'm dead!" - almost arrogant.. And then the acoustic version - the delivery is less accepting - the narrator doesn't want to give in - but knows he has no choice.

  • David Bowie ia a Genius!!
