  • So a railway was built over a residential street? Silly Americans!

  • yes, great video, and don't give a rats ass what kind of engines they are

  • Street running!! Best idea for railfans who want to be REALLY close to home!! lolz

  • @ckrailvideo

Nope. It was built as a C44-9W but it says that it is a C40-9W. You were close, Oceano

  • SUPER !!!! 5 *****

    Wo genau ist das ?

  • Who would put a train track and a road together? Those city planers should be shot.

  • The city planners that did this have been dead for decades and are buried in the cemetery a few blocks south of here. The train has gone down the main street in the old part of LaGrange for at least 80 years. There are at least four cross streets in this section, only one has a crossing gate (highway 53 in 1983). I imagine LaGrange requested the bells; the horns are VERY loud, you can imagine what it would be like between buildings.

  • Nice video! Thank you.

Why no grade crossing horn sequence?

I see only a crossbuck sign. Any (o)T(o) with gates?

Why does it sound like two bells?

    Thank you.

  • And they don't even have cross guards!!!? That's nuts

  • It is only dangerous because of idiots! LaGrange is fortune to keep streetrunning. If my mind serves me correct CSX wanted to overhaul the tracks in 2003 that would end street running all together and CSX would be allowed to blow the horn all two blocks if LaGrange didn't make changes to crossings or close a few. The design they choose when make LaGrange look like Midway or Frankfort, Ky. CSX would put a wall or curbs by the tracks to keep cars and people away from trains.

  • Street Runnings are cool, but it looks like somebody could get killed, very dangerous, please be carefull in areas where this happens, and be be watchful around all railroad tracks, a train can be up on you before you know it.

  • @ckrailvideo They're actually C40-9W's. They've been rebuilt since.

  • CW40-9 and a CW40-8(Ex Conrail #6082) Great consist!!

  • Inception

  • @ckrailvideo No they are C40-8Ws. C44-9Ws have Hi-Ads, like the ES44DCs have. And if your refering to the CSX roster, they are labeled incorrectly. Just search up CSX C44-9W and then CSX C40-8W.

  • I've suprisingly never heard of street running until now... Are all those spots on the side places for the cars to park? And How do the cars know, especially if there is 2 way traffic... its not like they could put a gate at the end of the street or anything..

  • isn't that dangerous

  • @ratchet666clank4 Dangerous as hell but also cool, I lived there in 1983.

  • i was wondering do trains on the streets have dangerous goods in their consists?

  • Wow, I wish they would be with me directly by driving just outside the door diesel with so brilliant and beautiful as this ... Of course we have here in Switzerland and beautiful features, but still not as nice to the American trains ... I love them, thank you for this video:)

Ps: the honk there lok I find it simply awesome, would be a shame if it were not so;)

  • auto train in the street how ironic

  • wtf is this a quiet zone?

  • @hawleywe Yes, the city of la grange is a posted quiet zone.

  • was this heading to queensgate yard

  • those were actually two c40-8w's

  • @oceano336 Def not c40-8w's u can tell by where the lights are on the front!

  • @oceano336 First unit is a Dash 9, second is a Dash 8. The initial CSX Dash 9's were pre production models and were built in Dash 8 Carbodies and with Dash 8 trucks.

  • Well done video!

    Thanks.

  • The most famous one in the UK can be found in Weymouth Dorset known as the Weymouth Quay tramway

  • u all probabaly know me or my brothers and sisters, linday walker, james walker, matt walker, chris walker, emily walker and tori walker. lagrange is a prettty small town.

  • the size of these beasts are just amazing!

  • well the closest street running where I lives is Ft Collins CO on S. Mason St

  • I can't believe trains are allowed to go that fast while street running- especially when there are historic buildings within 50 feet of the track. That's nuts. Sweet video nontheless.

  • I finally figured that out. do you know why they have it like that? It is confusing.

  • i live in lagrange!!! it sucks

  • Who cares? If they dont like it, they shouldnt live there. simple as that. Worldwide.

  • I have lived and worked on Main Street for 14 years. I always stop to waive at the train engineers as they go by. I reminds us all to slow down and take in life.

  • that would be dash-8 not 9. look at the trucks. 7670 also has ditchlights on the deck. Good video!

  • Actually its a Dash 9. CSX has their Dash 9's in Dash 8 carbodies

  • come up to walton!! SO this is L&N?

  • engine 9004 my cousin is almost always in that you no teh enggineer???

  • First time ive seen a dash 8 with the ditch lights on deck

  • my bad

  • that was a short train. is there a car factory near there???

  • It wasn't that short.. the passing of about 90 cars was cut out from the middle of the video. There are two major Ford plants in Louisville, and much of that traffic heads toward Cincinnati and points northward via this line.

  • 16-18 times a day! Wow. that's a busy line.

  • You obviously haven't heard of Fostoria or Berea, for instance. Those locations may receive 80-130 trains per day.

  • For those who are caught waiting on the trains going down the middle of the streets, 16-18 probably seems like a lot.

  • It sure was a lot, but I do miss it.

  • i live about a half hour away form berea, southeast of cleveland actually. berea never was really that appealing but fostoria is always promising. Problem is, unless you have a scanner with you, you dont know where to wait! around tiffin and greenwich are good places too

  • If you did go to Fostoria or Deshler, you would be seeing most of the trains on this line a lot quicker than waiting in LaGrange, KY for a train, since most if not all trains are going to or from Ohio. It seems that most trains in Kentucky take 2 to 4 hours to be seen. Some trains don't run till there is little to no light left to shoot. I quit going to La Grange because all I ever see is nothing but autorack trains and very long waits. I know it's Ford, but damn.

  • Well, I would gladly take the wait, if it meant getting nice/scenic/appealing photos and/or videos. Fostoria and Greenwich etc, are pretty close to my home, and are old hat - I can go to them anytime - I'd prefer to check out LaGrange.

  • LaGrange is great.

I got closer, though. :) (Check my profile for my LaGrange video)

  • IMPRESSIVE! Thanks for posting
