  • the views on this just blew me away sooo many lil wayne numbers need to hear this

  • Real shit right here.

  • Classic... Always loved this one!

  • THIS IS THE HARDEST WEST COAST JAM EVER...HE BANGIN ON M.CS

  • these guys are so underrated, sick ****** classic

  • Sampled from the Turtles "you showed me"

  • Thanks for the source. :D

  • Technically....This song is by All in All (before J Sumbi and Mellow D formed FF with the rest).

Search for All in All - Sunshine Men.

  • Thanks a lot for passing the knowledge.

  • No problem. My cousin and I (we run AlienNationRadio) at first didn't believe it but we finally found an old Rap Pages with an article on them that proved us wrong. Slowly we're breaking the Sunshine Men paradigm haha.

  • I have been listening to this song for two years and always dug this song but never understood it completely until this mornin. I don't know if your already 15 steps ahead of me and know this, but try thinking about it terms of the rise of Western civilization through colonialism and west-east coast hip hop as allegory. Sunshine Woman and Men are here to tell you how it is by connecting many things together to show the totality of everything. We are a sunshine people but some don't know that.

  • Think of Harriet Tubman's quote I'm paraphrasing, but that I could have freed so many more if they had realized they were slaves.

I definitely misspoke when said I understood it completely. But, I found the context to see it from. This song I think is I used to Love's Her uncle, same allegorical concept without the "and who I'm talking about is colonialism" or smtg like that towards the end.

What rap pages are you talking about? And what do you think about this?

  • 2nd verse is really how rappers must deal with the effects of colonialism and how they must deal with dominance of the white man. But the third verse showed it to me more than any.

they stroll like kings, the big fish in a small stream

too weak to battle so they fled the big apple

and they moved out west like old settlers

booty MCs, no rhymes, with a swelled head

aimin' to discover an inactive rhyme zone

just like Columbus, they called here home

White Flight? White priv through Clnlsm?

  • Well put, my friend. I've thought about it like that, also. Especially with that line:

To help my cause, the rise of inflation

    The incline of Western civilization

Words to enlighten and to direct

Brought to you live an correct....from Sunshine Men.

Settlers movin out west and callin Cali their home. History seems to repeat itself...

  • yeyyaaaa thas wus up

  • Thanks Oni!
