Definitely. Stripping the music makes a huge difference. I've listened to this song a lot cuz it's one of my favorites, so I recognize the vocal. But it sounds so pure here.

What you hear on the CD is NEVER the original version of a recording, especially a song like this. The song as a whole was written in 1998, but recorded, mixed, and mastered during November 1999 and April 2000.

This is the original unfinished version. I heard this from a promo disc from March 2000. She partly recorded this in November 1999 in Sweden and finished her work on it in January 2000 at Battery Studios in NYC. After that I guess Max Martin reworked it with the orchestral arrangement that's on the album version. Thank you for posting, I thought I was imagining things when I heard this before.

Max Martin actually made this song himself. They made this version together from November 1999 to January 2000. The one you hear on the album was re-done in April 2000 before its release. I really believe that after recording and releasing her Britney album in 2001, her singing voice had changed heavily by late 2002 when she started recording In The Zone. That was because of the heavy smoking that she took up after Justin Timberlake broke up with her.
