  • How do you teach her?I want to do that with my baby girl 12 month old

  • What a cutie!!! and so smart

  • Each baby is difference between another one, how to know if someone baby can learn things like yours?

  • If I was smarter than the average 26 yr old. I'd boast and brag and show off my skills as well.. Maybe not doing so verbally, but I'd definitely put my smarts to work.

  • Some of you are so damn ignorant. Whether she is memorizing images or actually knows how to read, EDUCATION IS PARAMOUNT and ultimately starts in the home. Instead of playtime all day, they actually put thought into her future. This is absolutely amazing. If your parents took time out to teach you something, you wouldn't analyze and critique this video as being a crop that will later lead to her arrogance. That makes absolutely no sense. Intelligence alone should make one cocky.

  • @tbtitants21 wtf, get over yourself they're just recording what seems to be a good memory. That's all. How is she going to be cocky? If she's smart enough to remember all this, I'm pretty sure she'll be raised to not be that way. Clearly your on another level of stupidity.

  • I started to talk at 1 and a half

  • She is beautiful

  • Awww... That's cute.

  • Smart

  • This little asian kid is probably in harvard now

  • Babies doing things early is actually pretty meaningless, it does not mean they will be brighter than average when they are older. My son never learnt to crawl and did not walk until he was 18 months, he didn't say his 1st word until he was 2 and a half, but at school he was genius level in maths and outstanding at chemistry and physics. He is now 21 and the highest scoring student at his university doing a masters degree in aeronautical engineering.

  • @knockandobus

Can I get his digits? lol

  • u are a great father ,and wha u doing its very good for her, will help here when she is older.

i have 14 months old baby girl ,she cant hardly say any corect word ,i want to teach here bu i dont know how to do its

can u tell me the steps how u teach ur baby cause its kind hard thing ever

    thx

  • well of course i dont have case studies because this has just been initiated...just a thought, but a question I deem worth pondering.

  • i really don't see what's wrong about teaching a baby a few words. sometimes it's really helpful, for example when putting on my nephews pants i say left foot and he puts his left foot, right foot, left arm etc. i wish parents put more effort into teaching their children these days as i find more and more kids to be complete dumbasses as time goes by

  • So awesome! Thats why Asians are hugely sucessful...they start their kids early on!!!

  • awesome! ! what is wrong with teaching a baby?!

  • Thsi video is amazing. She is very smart for her age and is heading into a bright future

  • has to be a asian

  • Of course she is learning this through images, but what is wrong with that? Actually it's a much better way. You can know that only by the fact that all babies learn that way, and they have to learn much more than adult in a much shorter time. Also some adults are picture/visual thinkers more than word thinkers. They also learn this way. I'm not saying everyone should teach his baby to read but I think it would help the world if we were more open minded about the way of educating our children.

  • I love how she repeats 'mommy' like she's thinking about her mom in that moment. That means she really associates the images/words with the sounds but also with the meaning!

  • yall haters good job daddy !!!

  • SO AMAZING LOVE THIS VIDEO....!!,,AT 1YR OLD SHE LEARNS FAST!,,,...

    TRY THIS TOO...

  • awwww <3 she's so cute and ovbiously she wasn't forced, believe me......

  • her hair is the best part

  • No guys he's obviously reading a teleprompter.... no wait...

  • Felicity is very brilliant...I agree that learning should start as early as possible but didn't know that it can be as early as 1year old..

  • What is the purpose of teaching a baby to read, and not allowing reading skills to be acquired in their due course? I think I'd have to agree with the person who advised you to let your baby take a break.

  • this shit is awesome. that is a smart ass baby.

  • the baby is wanting to leave doesn't mean she doesn't enjoy it at all~ if a baby doesn't like to pay attention to something or someone it's very hard to force him to do it.... sometimes u have to call a baby's name 10 times before he responds to you..... plus it's only 60 second not like 60 minutes so don't have to overreact~~

  • Don't know why some say that the child does not enjoy it, my son brings me the notebook and crayon for me to teach him, if not he cries! CONGRATS! Not many parents take the time to teach their children at an early age. My son already pronounced 18 letters of the alphabet at 18 months and learned names of objects through flash cards.

  • 7 people are jealous of this baby.

  • age 25

will be next Steve jobbs in female version or Albert einstein

  • Give her a break. He probaly teaches her 24/7

  • Y r Asians so smart? Cuz there dads coach them 24/7 even be4 they start school.

  • Wow! Good girl!

  • Liar the last one was supposed to be the nose :p

  • She might not be actually "reading" a word, but I think this is how MOST children start. They see a word, they memorize it. It isn't until later that they realize things have rules. I know that's how I learned. It doesn't make it any less amazing at 12 months old. That's pretty impressive.

  • wow for a baby that age to recognise words is amazing. Well done!! And she is gorgeous!

  • Such extreme cuteness with so much brightness too! Bless her heart.

  • it's unfair! at what age can a child be just a child! children will learn how to read in there own time. I do not see why as parents we try to turn them into little prodigies It is silly really.

  • @rachelfellify We are teaching them the basics of life. Just as you start teaching a child to eat, drink from a sippie cup, you start teaching them letters, names of objects...and guess what, when I take my 20 month old son to the store, he gets excited when he sees a ball, same excitement when he recognizes the letter K or M. There's nothing wrong about that, babies and toddlers learn very fast, you don't have to spend 24/7 teaching them, just 30min to an hour a day will do.

  • God bless her, even if she is using mnemonics, which is image to sound and linking that is very smart.

    Lovely.

    Keep it up.

  • wonder did you teach her phonics when she was younger? or you want to share with us your way of teaching?

  • smart baby!

  • i think she may get a scholar when she grows up :)

  • she is a smart baby.. :D i love her :D <3

  • @zoomafo2 - Yep, you're absolutely right. That's called whole word reading or sight reading. Babies start out reading that way and start to figure out the phonics code themselves intuitively (like they figure out rules of grammar intuitively out of sheer exposure to the language). See BrillBaby site for "whole word vs phonics". Re bored, yep, babies get bored when you test them, hence we only did it for these videos. How else would people believe it otherwise? :)

  • @brillbaby Well personally, I believe these videos are very conceited and I believe she will be consumed by these videos of her being brilliant, and get conceited also...humbleness is a virtue...so i would please beg you to take down these videos before she can see them and gets cocky with power...i also believe this is not the right way to raise a child...what child wants to read at such a young age...a child wants to observe, explore, and make sense of the world, before you roboticize her

  • @tbtitans21 yea, and after this video i bet you're gonna ask every child in the world not to get published because that's cocky

  • @halovir i hope youre being literal because that just proves my point. you say 'published' as if you are pinning a baby to a hypothetical pinboard (or whatever you call it). you're dooming these babies to incredible arrogance, an inflated self-worth level, and such people are not needed...ever. they usually become overwhelmed by their arrogance and fall into a worthless category of hard drug addicts. thank you for your unintended support, halovir

  • @tbtitans21 you seem to know some case studies. Would you like to share some of them to prove your point?

  • @tbtitans21 apparently you haven't seen the wonders of a lot of genius in the world eventhough they've had their childhood filmed. Sorry, but your argument is not valid. Would you please share some case studies?

  • @halovir I just don't think this is good for the creative aspect of their brain, the most important part.

  • @tbtitans21 I am not following. How does publications affect their creativity?

  • @halovir I was just referring to the playback of the words...the publications is a chance but I suppose if they see the hundreds of others they wouldn't feel so special.

  • @zoomafo2 Wwwwhhhhaaaattttt , that is amazing for 12.5 MONTHS OLD , what do you expect QUANTAM PHYSICS from someone whoose probably never seen the nite sky ?

  • @zoomafo2 not really the baby is reading please check out this other 18months baby and tell me what you think: I personally met this one and even tried putting letters together and he just joined the sounds together like on sesame street and read them out correctly.

  • @zoomafo2 not really the baby is reading please check out this other 18months baby and tell me what you think: I personally met this one and even tried putting letters together and he just joined the sounds together like on sesame street and read them out correctly. youtube.com/watch?v=48-EyZwYBns

  • @zoomafo2 if there is somebody still is wondering about this: It's actually the way most people eventually will read words. they see a bunch of letter wich they put a meaning to without really reading it letter by letter. It's why spellingmistakes are overlooked so easily except when it's in a word the reader isn't familiar with. So what is wrong by first teaching your child to recognize words and second letters, instead of the old-school alphabet way wich is more difficult to grasp.

  • @zoomafo2 -but she recognizes the letters, it means she can read. she also memorized it pretty well.congratulations!!

  • amazing !!!!!!!

  • WOW...

  • wow, amazing..

  • hi good job daddy! my daughter also can sign words ard 9 mths and starts reading at 14 mths. i wanna ask you how old is your daughter now? how is she progressing? what other things that u teach after this flash cards?

my daughter is 2.5 yrs old now, she is reading story books on her own, like Clifford books, cinderella and all sorts of princess stories. i'm trying to teach her more chinese at the moment

  • she's so smart...

  • wow! <3

  • she is smart xD

  • It's like showing a kid a picture of a ball and they then say 'ball' when they see it. It's not that you've taught them to read, you've taught them to recognise a picture or word and what sounding word or action i associated with it. It's a start and a very well done to you! :)

  • If your definition of reading is phonetical reading, then yes, you are correct. The video shows "whole word" or "sight" reading. Babies start of reading that way and progress to reading phonetically (by intuiting the phonics rules) over time. Read up about the Whole Words vs Phonics debate on the BrillBaby site.

  • yeah mate i think thats what reading is :)

  • @broam018

If a child could recognize a word and give it a picture in his own head , He has learned reading , This is how we come to understand things , Spatial reasoning !

  • omg! CHINESE! THATS WHAT I'M LEARNING! O_O! even if shes just 12.5 months old she can say ALL those words?! COOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!

    i'm filippino! she rockz!

  • she's is one smart baby!

  • She is very good! Can chinese signes AND english! Its amazing!

  • Wow!

  • ya how long did it take her to lern those motions and words and thts amazing!

  • goodjob keep it up

  • lol she is so cute her little voice is so adorable

  • Excellent.... Brilliant........

  • i cant even do that!

  • How long did it take her to learn how to read and understand those words? It's amazing!

  • I wish her all the best

  • MY FUTURE WIFE xD

  • Umm..?

  • I'm going to try this with my son. He is 11 months and is picking up one or two new words per day although he only sounds out the first part of the word he understands very well and often surprises me with new words that I didn't teach him. I'll definitely check out the site.

  • this is unbeliable

  • in chinese too? very impressive! was she speaking in manderin or cantonese? sorry, I'm viet so I have clue which is which which sucks because i'm half chinese too and i don't know a lick of chinese. :(

but all the best and luck to your baby girl! she's a cutie pie!

  • Hi, thanks for sharing with us such an inspiring video about baby reading at such a young age!! No doubt Felic is so cute! My boy is 13 months now I am keen to start GD reading with him ASAP, whether he will turn out to be a good reader or not, isn't really my main concern, it's afterall a good spending time together! I have a QUESTION for you please: May I know if I should teach him "just the Text" OR should I go with "Text then Picture and so on"?

  • wow very impressive shes very smart!

  • Well, I´m sorry for all that that I wrote but I thought that you forced that girly to do so :/ But she´s cute :) I´m from Italien (I´m using my friends account) and we didnt think that little children could do so :) She is soo cute but I thought you forced :( I´m sorry :/

  • Oww don´t you play innocent

  • LET YOUR BABY TAKE A BREAK , PLEASE !

  • I presume that you (like some others) think that she does not enjoy learning to read, and has to be forced to learn. Nothing could be further from the truth. Babies (including her) enjoying learning to read tremendously, especially before even turning 1. See "Top 8 Myths of Early Reading" article on the BrillBaby site for more on this.

  • i agree....

  • Such a cute baby. Very cute when she pronounces the words.

  • wow! i'm speechless. wow!

  • I can't wait to have babies and teach them to read just like that... too cute!!!

  • she so adorable and smart

  • smart baby..

  • See. this is what you get when you read to a child at an early age.

  • shEs rEally cute and smart,I wOuld like to cOngratulate yOur parents and I know they both prOud Of yOu I Love yOu felicity

  • I'm truly AMAZED!!!!

  • Wow im amazd how did you teach her?

  • You can read more about reading methods on the Brillbaby site. The methods used to teach Felicity have been encapsulated in the Little Reader program, which can be downloaded from BrillKids.

  • Or you could avoid all the accessories and just start by text pointing and alphabet play (there's a book called Native Reading that explains the method, it's reviewed on the brillbaby site)

  • awe cute

  • bravaa!! wonderfulll!!! 5 stars 4 u!

  • smart baby :)

  • Hi sir. I made an awful comment on you teaching your girl to read at such a young age. I was with friends and under peer pressure. What an idiot of me. I actually congratulate you and believe in the absorbent mind. Do you know Maria Montessori? Please look for her. I am really sorry for the comment, I don't think like that at all. Cheers!

  • Hi verticalmatt, no problem at all! We hear that all the time because it's a VERY common myth that little ones must have been forced if they can do things like read! It's precisely because we typically leave such teaching TOO LATE, when the child has many other competing interests and it becomes more difficult to learn, that we would have to force them. That's why teaching at early ages is the easiest for both the child and for parents!

  • Felicity is a beautiful baby! and she has a very special talent!

  • Clearly you're in denial. I have no problem admitting that the child is bright but why deny the obvious? Take the last two words for instance, from nose she went straight to her tongue without even giving a glimpse at the next word. ___ While this cannot be proven now that she is much older, I would have liked the opportunity to point to any given letter of any word and see if she can read just that one letter. I doubt she knew her alphabet before she knew to memorize word patterns
  • Ah, I now see why you think that (thx for clarifying)! lol... Actually, this is what happened: she sees "nose", points to her nose, but then proceeds to stick her finger into her mouth! She then sees "tongue", then sticks out her tongue! (look closely). She demonstrates 'tongue' not by pointing to her mouth, but sticking out her tongue! :)

    ____

true, she learned to read whole words before the alphabet. Babies progress to phonics after learning whole words, and will intuit phonics rules this way.

  • that is the smartist baby on Gods green eath!!!!

  • holey crap..... your baby is smart. I don't care if she remembered it. EVEN DOING THAT IS SMART

  • It seems that Felicity knows an order of

words because she on two occasions

at least follows through to the next word

before even having seen the word. She

already anticipated the word... it seems

  • I don't see how you would get that idea. Which words are you referring to? It's not possible because she simply did not know the order, as we deliberately mixed up the slides. :)

  • i retract me "cruel" comment. justamazing. I'll allow my baby to use his her full ponge-braing to the max when I decide to have one.

she even read some mandarin characters!

hat off sir and little lady!

  • The problem with that is that the focus will be on the pictures, not the words. What programs like Little Reader do is to show the words, then the pictures (or the other way around), so that when words are shown, the focus is purely on the words and nothing else.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually, they WERE mixed up before that. But I don't think there's anything that can be said that would convince skeptics 100%. Thing is, many babies can do this, some at even younger ages - Felicity is far from being the only one. :)

  • Fair enough they were mixed up but maybe if you would shuffle them up on camera and from different heights on the stack remove a page/word. I know there are many children that have been said of to have special abilities and skills, such as calculating a very lengthy mathematical formula at an early age but all that they have been told to do is to memorise a few and mechanically write them out. It's something I guess and as a parent I'm sure you are very happy and proud of Felicity
  • you know what i came out of my moms vagina walking

  • Research has shown that teaching reading before age 7 may damage the brain and most children are not ready for reading before then. Leave them alone to have a childhood.

  • Actually, research shows the exact opposite. Two of the biggest myths is that early learning (like reading) is harmful, and that little ones don't enjoy learning. You can read more about these myths on the BrillBaby site (look for "Top 8 Myths of Early Reading" and "Early Learning: For + Against")

  • OMG that is so rubbish my baby cousin when she was 12 months she spoke vietnamese and chinese sooooo our baby is better not ursssssssssss

  • man this baby really a robot.all asians are fucken androids.i figured it out.watch it will all come out in the press soon.stay tuned.

  • plain cruel!

  • Ah, the common myth that babies don't enjoy learning skills such as reading and must be forced. It couldn't be further from the truth! :)

  • WOW!

  • wow that is gud!!

    the baby is cute

  • lol you spelled Asian wrong (you must not be Asian)

  • looks like geniuses will overflow by 2020's

  • even if it was memorized it still amazing!

But my question is HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU DO IT!

  • NERDS are the future!!!!

Cause nerds are lovable humans who makes everyone comfortable.

But these mass manipulated created cultures, created by old primitive humans from the past, created diversity in society.

Eventually there will be Supernerds and magical people!!!

  • that's awesome!keep up the good work!!

  • WOW

  • Is this the baby learn to read program you used? How long have you been doing this with the baby? My son was using the baby einstein I thought it wasnt working so I stop using it until I seen him show me with his hand ball, kiss, milk, food, cup and shows me items. I just ordered the baby learn to read. Ill keep people updated.

  • spicymix, you can read more about reading methods on the Brillbaby site. The methods used to teach Felicity have been encapsulated in the Little Reader program, which can be downloaded from BrillKids.

  • whoa prepare a room for lots of trophies!!

  • FUTURE NERD!!!!!!

  • Even though it's memorized, it's still pretty amazing. I mean, I'm pretty sure I wasn't able to memorize so much even when I was two!

  • Did you not see how she had to recognise the word cup after mommy? It isn't as if she is simply reciting a line of words that were taught to her in sequence, she actually recognises the words

  • freaky hot house babies

  • wow so smart!!

  • omg she is super smart!! shes gonna be a billonarie when shes gets older

  • Nice...A+

  • wow

  • nothinig special...

I mean come on. She's a year old.

    Though I would want that.....

    ~Oreo

  • WOW.....

  • wow

  • Omg, how smart :)

    And she is so cute!!

  • ya that was so cute i luv her shes such a cutie pie!!

  • aww shes cute! :)

  • she makes me look dumb!!!!!!!!!!

  • HOLY COW

  • cutie pie

  • no fair she asian

  • amazing! that's brilliant!

  • Can´t see the mouth moving!

  • that's such a pretty baby

she evens speaks koren or japenesse or chinese

    :]]

  • She's adorable. You've done an amazing job teaching her.

  • AHHH!!! <3333

She is so freakin' ADORABLE and incredibly smart! :D

  • Wish my parents had done with me - it would've given me a head start in school!

  • Alicia McInnis just finished her study at LSU using MorphoPhonic picture cards to teach 2 yr olds to read. they were just "regular" kids, and after 18 15-minute sessions they could read words, recognized letters, increased sound awareness, and had a good grasp on the alphabet. Search "phonic faces" on YouTube and you can see the picture words as an alphabet book or as cards. The first part of the word is a face making the sound; the rest the meaning superimposed into the letters. ElementOry

  • nice one..

  • ha?????????? wow

  • shes good

  • thats really awesome

  • whoa...thats a smart baby

  • Amazing!!! Beutiful Girl!

  • lmao

    that baby is so cute
