I'm surprised with the comments stating how the CLS should not be close to the M5. I own a CLS55 AMG and a good friend of mine owns an M5. I have never lost to the M5. I don't think we have ever done a standing start race so I'm not sure how the two cars would compare but from a 60mph rolling start, I constatntly pull away from him. I have a flashed ECU but that is it. I would say the driver of the M5 is a better driver than me. I use the manual mode and sport mode with similar results.

I have a stock 55. All cars are close, but the driver does make a difference. Shifts points have to be perfect for the M5. The 55, just open it up, stay in the gas and let the torque work. Edge to the 55. Salon courses, the M5. Nice video.

M5 will NOT kick all these cars asses. M5's have no torque. barely in the 300lb ft limit for a V10. AMG's have tremendouse power and torque. over 500 in both categories. I will admit that the M5's and M3's will do better in the corners though

I think the 55 is the best engine AMG has built yet. The 63 is a nice, but doesn't have the brute factor the 55 does with the blower on it.

I have a very wealthy friend who's a Mercedes nut; he has just about every AMG ever made.

I've beaten his S55, CLS55, and SL63 in my E60 M5 quite easily.

The only AMG of his I've ever lost to was his lightly tuned '05 CL65.

Yet the CLS in this video takes out the M5; that seems strange to me.

Also, are Korea's street racing policies pretty relaxed?

I've seen alot of crazy races from Korea, and it seems like no one ever worries about police.

its is not automatic its smg. it likes to a manual gearbox. i your friend drive in automatic mode thats why you pass him. beacuse m5 fast only on s6 mode of gearbox. its much faster than manual. it is the fastest gearbox in the world ( 65 msec)

Get a grip the only thing Merc is better at BMW in is i) elegance and ii) oversized engines.

1. BMW make better engines: International Engine of the Year award confirms this as it has rightfully awarded and acknowledge great engines across all Jap/German cars.

2. BMWs own Mercedes at the track anyway. The old E46 M3 CSL even out guns Mercedes love and joy: the CLK 63 AMG Black Series on the Nurburgring. Go google it ;)

don't forget that benz is a much smoother ride with better ergonomics and design which makes for an overall better riding experience.... cars aren't driven on the track all day... sometimes they're used to get from point a to point b... and usually that doesn't require going on twisty roads and bends. fyi, never lost to a bimmer.

i'll try to get the acceleration runs. by this you mean shooting the speedometer while accelerating right? its tough to get shots of the cars from the outside since i would hav eto leave someone behind to do the shooting. heh. the rs6 is suprisingly fast... probably has the best handling out of all the cars... but in terms of acceleration it lacks the hp to keep up on the top end...
